I wouldn't be surprised if the delay was a result of, or response to the leak

It's not like this is the first time though. We all knew of Hard Skool's imminent release when it went live on Linkfire. So they should have known the potential for this to happen. The only difference here is that it seems they were planning a bigger promotional cycle and more media picked up on it.

Or one day (depending on whether it's released according to each region's timezone, hence in New Zealand first which will be at about this time tomorrow, or everywhere simultaneously at midnight EST USA).

I know the timer didn't mean much as it was all in draft, but it was different based on timezones and did fall on or about a midnight (which could correlate to a final midnight release per timezone).

Actually, yesterday I read this article on NME which also says "next week": https://www.nme.com/news/music/new-guns-n-roses-single-perhaps-reportedly-coming-next-week-3479330

    In the article, they say:

The track is taken from the band’s ‘Chinese Democracy’ era and is set to be officially released on all streaming platforms this Friday (August 11).

"Contrary to what was reported by various music information sites, and by some of the main US message boards dedicated to the group, Radio Rock has learned from internal sources, in the last few hours, that the release initially scheduled for this Friday, August 11th of "Perhaps" – new single from Guns N' Roses – was yesterday postponed to next week. The song – whose release does not seem to be in doubt anyway – has not yet been officially announced by the band"

Does anyone know if this is a trustworthy news site? At this point, I don't see the benefit in postponing its release by a week. The song has already had a significant amount of media attention with the 11th as a release date, and they should just drop it then if they can't work out a pre-save campaign.

How does everyone feel about all the odd sounding “hey heyyyys” and “ayyyyys” in the demo of ‘Perhaps’? Are you hoping they’ve been removed? I find them a bit jarring myself 😬

Other than that I’ve always quite liked the demo, the chorus in particular is pretty epic. I don’t have much faith in Slash’s soloing these days but in fairness this wasn’t one of Finck’s greatest solos anyway…

Listening to the full soundcheck video, it seems the 'hey hey' at 15 seconds of the song has been changed to a more upbeat/shorter one (as opposed to the drawn out 'hey hey' in the demo). It is also the only 'hey hey' played in soundcheck as a backing track, so maybe they have shifted that 'hey hey' specifically (or even others) from the primary vocal level to the backing vocals instead.

Links don't work anymore here (those in the first post).

First one just redirects to gnr.com and the second one displays a blank (well black background) page. Is it working for you guys ?

I get the same results, but they're likely doing work on the page while redirecting the Linkfire to the GNR website in the interim. Clearly the Perhaps announcement page wasn't finished when we picked up on it as the countdown was wrong and the Spotify pre-saves weren't working correctly.

If the linkedin post was real and they're mentioning 2 million streams in a day, is it fair to assume GNR have gone the Ashba route and are paying for likes, views, etc? If so, it's sad but not really surprising. They probably want future singles to be more successful than Absurd and HS...

I think it's more likely they came to the 2 million number by estimating their expected marketing results and gauging the response rate that Hard Skool and Absurd achieved in similar time frames.

    Frickin copyright claim 🤣🤣🤣

Ive just found a version of Perhaps on YT

I could only find two videos of Perhaps on YT after a cursory search - one heavily edited and another unedited. All the other videos of Perhaps that have been floating around YT for months/weeks that had substantial views are gone under copyright claim by UMG. You can test this by typing in 'Guns N' Roses Perhaps' into Google and clicking on some of the indexed videos which no longer work, lol.

Probably just the usual suspects up to their old tricks of getting videos removed.  UMG is probably just sick of getting them taken down since they always get re-uploaded anyways.  The fact that this is the 3rd single of songs from these leaks that had Axl vocals is disheartening.  Will we ever get anything "new" (meaning, even if it was something recorded in 2004, at least its something we never heard before)

I would agree with you if it were more than just Perhaps getting pulled. Some of these copies of Perhaps have been sitting on Youtube for months/weeks (depending on the video), and now they are all gone as rumours are heating up of an imminent release. If it were the usual suspects, they probably would have tried to nuke the whole account and/or all the leaks. That only Perhaps seems to have been impacted tells me it's probably an official move preparing for release. I recall similar things occurring before the release of HardSkool/Absurd.

On Sirius XMs Classic Rewind this morning. They played a Guns N Roses song then after the song the host said in the next 3-4 days Guns are supposed to release a new song.

Most of the videos of Perhaps on YouTube have been pulled. I know because I was listening to one of the videos last night and now it's gone... along with every other video of Perhaps that had substantial views. The kicker is that some of these accounts have uploaded numerous Village Session songs like Atlas, SOG, HS, etc, that have not been pulled alongside Perhaps.

The worst part is that this picture has become like the official photo for GNR articles everywhere, i fucking swear every single GNR related news comes with this thumbnail.

"GNR to release UYI anniversary boxset"

"GNR announces more American tour dates"

    "GNR rehearsed new song"

Read those headlines and you'll remember having read an article with that photo attached to it. (even though it's totally unrelated) Obviously there's some malicious intent behind it coming from the media. And clickbait of course.

I don't even think Axl looks bad in that photo.

  12. Are there any indications OMG has been seriously considered for release or live performance since the reunion? I find it hard to believe the current band would prefer to re-release it over officially unheard material like Perhaps or The General. Just because Axl continued to play around with it after its release means little in the current context of the band.

OMG is best left in the past, and indications for new material relate to Perhaps (and maybe The General). Who knows when we will get a release, but I don't think one setlist or a few shows missing a rehearsal of Perhaps mean anything. Remember, we saw an official video that featured a worker flicking through song cards that included Perhaps and possibly The General not more than a week and a half ago.
