  1. It's a tricky question to answer I think. The answer I think is yes and no. On the one hand, Frank did play some songs on CD, the newest album. You can argue that moves him out of the touring drummer status, and I think if they were to record entirely new material, there's a solid chance Frank would be involved to at least some degree.

Brain's tracks were all recorded 20 or whatever years ago. They have them sitting around, and it's likely what the band agrees is best anyways, so having Frank redo them would be a waste of time and money. Frank, who was recommended by Brain, likely understands that Brain got him the current role and just stays in his lane, so to speak. It's a weird thing to conclude what this all means. I don't think we'd ever really have the answer until an entirely new GNR song comes out, which may be never.

That being said, basically everyone besides Axl, Slash, and Duff are considering touring members in a way. No one besides the Big 3 are really ever promoted, never in the lithos, etc. It's cool they got nods in the music videos. With GNR though, I don't think Axl really ever thinks of it as touring members and studio members, I think he just sees everyone as a band member (a few other people said this too).

Another possible reason is they knew it would generate some kind of discussion and that could end up generating nore listens and buzz. Streaming services are very dependent on the snowball effect and, Idk, if the hardcore fans are listening to the song at least 2 times each, it will appear as a trending sugestion to more users.

I doubt this. 99.9% of people will listen to it without giving it any thought, and maybe a few hundred GNR nerds at most are really thinking about it.

  3. I have a conspiracy theory that Axl really loved the Finck solo, a lot more than Slashs, and had also envisioned that being the solo on the song. So it was alien to his ears to entirely have it start differently, so he shoehorned the old solo in a bit.

Im glad for it because it gives us 2 notes of a master solo before Slash noodles.

He did a great job on the chorus, seriously impressed with the rasp there. Changes the feel of it in a good way.

He’s gotta commit to just the low voice for the verses though, I wanna hear “what a weight upon your shoulders” without that weak mid range voice man. Go full baritone.

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s up with the Mickey verses. You’d think it would be incredibly easy to entirely baritone. He said something along the lines of needing to figure out how to sing it before it started, so it’s entirely possible this performance is his first time trying to sing it in 20+ years.

It seems Perhaps replaces Pretty Tied Up? They haven't played it yet.

Shame, if that's the case. Perhaps could be played instead of Reckless or Anything Goes. Of course it would be better if it replaced Hard Skool, but it's not going to happen since HS is still a "new" song.

Sad if this stays consistent. Was looking forward to hear both when I saw them this tour. What a weird song to replace.

  6. I don’t really believe in all of the trilogy shit. Axl never really strikes me as the George Lucas type who would have this shit all planned out a million years ago. Maybe incidentally it all fell together a certain way but I always just see songs as themselves.

That being said im fucking excited to hear this song and you could call it the sequel to My World for all I give a shit. Bring on the FN General.

Side note: I don't know if it's just me, but I'm having the impression that the forum has been slowly turning into discord, maybe because many forum members are in discord servers, too.

Not long ago there was a tendency to start new threads, sometimes to a point where there were more than one threads for similar topics. For example, in this case there normally would be another thread for rating the three released singles, another one about whether the General or Atlas will be next, maybe another specifically about the lyrics of Perhaps, and so on.  But now it's the opposite trend: it looks like people want to discuss everything in the same thread.

I don't like this trend. I prefer forums over discord exactly because discussions are supposed to be less "chaotic' and ephemeral.

Anyway, just an observation. Carry on :)

I tried to make a thread for what I brought up by the way. Don’t know if it’s a glitch or whatever but it wouldn’t let me make the thread so that’s why I asked it here.
