    I noticed that also.

Frank just came in badly and Slash turned and looked at him like ...... what are you doing?

I don't think it was Frank. It was Axl who skipped his "you're in the jungle" line because he was sipping his water. Slash was waiting on Axl hence why slash looked at Axl and Axl smiled. Not a big deal either way. Axl just picked the wrong time to take a sip of water

She was out there the whole show... If playing Pittman's parts include laying synths of It's So Easy and Rocket Queen then I'm all set.. I am pretty certain Dizzy could handle sound effects.. Sorry man.. I wasn't a NuGnR fan at all.. This is great for those that were but this is just more of the same really. She is the straw that broke the camels back. comical.

Did you feel the same about Teddy Zigzag back then?

I think there was just a lot riding on getting ready for the Troubadour show and having special guests, even being former band members. But that's what they are...former band members, special guests. Izzy doesn't want to even tour his own material and Adler cancels his shows. Izzy's been doing the special guest thing with GNR for a while, so it's just a matter of when.

We'll see what happens in Vegas next.

Exactly, well put. Izzy won't even tour his own songs. Last time he toured was 1993? And now people expect him to jump back in the limelight for a full tour. Playing multiple 10min songs every night. Izzy will continue to make his appearances than ride his motorcycle off into the sunset til the next time

     2. Izzy did not quit because of those songs. He got sober and became tired of the drama, to put it bluntly. Izzy had the attention span for 3 hr+ concerts in 1991 (Inglewood), where songs like Locomotive and Estranged were played.

    3. I love Izzy and Gilby's playing. They suited the GNR sound, unlike the guitarists that followed them.

    4. It is acceptable to forget some of the lyrics to a song that you have not performed live since 1991.

Locomotive sounds like shit with Steven. Very sloppy. Same with Don't Cry and YCBM as well I'd imagine. Sorum's technique and precision fit the direction the band were goingin with UYI followed by CD imho. Now AFD songs no one is better than Adler.

Fortus is muvh better and more versatile in the studio than Gilby. Its not even close. Slash & Izzy have a special natural chemistry that can never be duplicated but I'm eager to hear what he can do with Richard is Izzy doesnt record

  5. I can definitely see Frank and Richard bowing out or taking a break next year as we get the afd5 doing a AFD30yrs tour like motley, megadeth & metallica have done. Assuming everyone is still around.

Another thing some of you guys are grossly underestimating is how much of a struggle it is for Adler to string multiple years of sobriety together. He probably can't handle a full tour just yet. Too early on in his sobriety. Not much time has passed since the last relapse. Now maybe he can do it but you guys are completely overlooking the likely possibility he can't

Let clarify my original post a bit: I was at the troubadour that night. I did not get in, but I listened to the whole set from the outside (which was still incredible). I stuck around at the end to ask random concert goer's their thoughts and more than a few mentioned Slash's demeanor. That piqued my curiosity. Then I read a couple of published reviews from other outlets and they mentioned the same thing.

Am I sounding the alarms for Armageddon? Lol, no, I think they'll be just fine.

GnR has not only fascinated me on a musical level all of these years, but also on a personal level regarding band dynamics. I think we can all agree that they're one of a kind ;) So I decided to bring it up here in the forum to discuss because I thought it was interesting that there were enough random folks coming to the same conclusion. That's all.

to me it was as simple as small stage, emotions, nerves and lazer focus. Anything else is speculative nonsense. His demeanor will be much more grandeur in Vegas and as the tour progresses

Most of the UYI material (an evolution from AFD) was written while Steven was still in the band, so yes they would have evolved.

Depends if you are talking about songs like Back of bitch, Don't Cry, KOHD or Locomotive, Estranged, Coma.

We've never seen Steven play a song that clocks in over 5mins so its hard to know for sure. I certainly can't picture Adler & Izzy playing on CD. The rest of the guys I can. Songs like Estranged, Coma & Locomotive are a big reason why Izzy quit. Hence the reason those songs weren't played until Gilby joined. Actually Gilby got the gig playing Coma in his audition. Gilby knew what he was doing. Izzy just doesn't have the attention span for a 10min opus. As evident by how he can't remember his own lyrics every time he got up on stage with nu-gnr. Duff on the otherhand rarely screws up lyrics

I'm not sure why you say Izzy doesn't want to do a tour. 10 years ago he was up for a reunion. He quit the Illusions tour for 3 reasons. 1. Slash Duff and Matt were too high and drunk all the time and he was sober. 2. He thought the band had totally changed with the loss of Steven. 3. Axl was driving him crazy. I think its unfair to say he didn't want to be a part of this or any future reunion/regrouping/whatever tour. Sure he doesn't tour with his solo band, but maybe everyone being sober it being the old band enticed Izzy for himself or for the fans. It's unfair to say Izzy didn't want this....he was compelled to make a Twitter account. THAT says something.

I'm happy with the lineup except for Frank and the second keyboardist. Frank butchers the songs; I'm sorry. Brownstone's a mess, and what were the extra hi hat hits in the WTTJ clip? Fortus is great and IF Izzy didn't want to be a part I'm glad they chose him. The keyboardist adds nothing and I really don't understand her purpose. But on the bright side at least she does nothing for me rather than bring down the songs (Pitman).

I like Frank most of the time. He is good mix of Adler & Sorum. He has more swing and power than Sorum. Frank is better equipped with proficiency to play UYI & CD than Adler.

Problem is Frank tends to overplay quite often. There were parts of the show where you could not her the other 4 guys clearly. And that is something that Slash & duff always despised. A drummer that over plays doesn't fit in GN'R. The drummer has needs to stay in the pocket. No extra hit hat beats like you said. That is why everywhere Slash & duff went after Guns they brought Sorum with them. Snakepit, Neurotic Outsiders & VR.

You have to think after watching the Troubadour footage. Slash and Duff will have a talk with Frank. Like I did with Adler when Duff and Izzy hid his excess drum equipment everyday at rehearsal for AFD.

Posted this in the "Regrouping" thread....

Josh Freese and Brain were the best drummers GN'r ever had. I'm partial to Brain since Freese is looked at more a hired gun. Was so disappointed when Brain left. Axl, Slash, duff, Fortus, Brain would've been epic

No, it hasn't. When the original 5 reunites it will be legendary, no hype has been killed in my opinion.

Heres the thing. Izzy to me is only important in a studio setting. Live? He has no barring on me. Which is why usually I'm indifferent to Izzy, Gilby, Fortus (although Fortus is sure an amazing guitarist). Now as far as the drummers go? I don't mind Frank. Yes, Adler's sound is the best but he's not reliable for touring. Frank is actually my second favorite GNR drummer, and yes I don't like how he plays on Estranged/Brownstone but I still think he does the majority very well in an original different sound.

This lineup is the best possible scenario because it has a future. The original 5 reuniting wouldn't last more than a few monthes.

We're getting caught in a circle here with the CD/VR stuff. Thats not the point. I don't think either of us is going to change the other's mind. I think we should simply let it be that some of us think its silly of Slash to play CD when Axl isn't playing any of their songs, and you feel the opposite. Thats fine. Its no more complicated than that.

Personally, and I think Tom Ass would agree, with the show we had last night, it seemed Axl finally "won the war" so to speak. Not that it comes down to petty arguments, but in the end Axl got Slash on stage playing Chinese Democracy songs. Slash backed down and accepted before Axl did, and I just didn't see it going that way. But again, I don't know whats going on behind the scenes, and hopefully more stuff is in the works. I would absolutely like to see Slash play CD stuff but I'd like to see just as much Axl sing Slash or VR material. They are one and the same to many of us.

I more excited about Slash playing CD than a lot of GN'R songs. Certainly more excited about that than hearing The Seeker & LALD and the other half doxen covers

Its a tough call. Think how well you can see a football game from one endzone to the other. You're probably better off being higher if you're that far back.

Gonna try again for the general sale. Have a feeling I will find something much better which will totally defeat the purpose of shelling out $85 for Nightrain. Then sell these.

I don't think I will be too far. The field is not THAT big and the Stage takes up a good portion of it. Now the 200-300 level straight back is another story cos the stadium walls extend deeper the further up you are.  Also sound should be pretty good near the soundboard

oh man, i feel so bad for steven. canceled his gig, and it wasn't to play in GNR. why then? so fucking depressing. no one wanted this gig more than he. while everyone is cheering, he must be alone in a cold room now.

very mixed feelings on all of this. the least they can do is finally giving us a status update on steven's role in the future concerts, so we can place this.

because it would've been dumb to play your show at the Whiskey simultaneously when the whole world was focused on the Troubadour. GN'R came up with the brilliant idea of playing April Fools Day.

Also there were rumors Steven had an injury
