I think you are spot on with this.  As for the kids thing, again if Beta is to be believed about how much of a romantic soul he is, he may have just been waiting (and waiting) for the right woman..

I knew a huge who tried for a kid with his wife for over a decade before finally achieving success. Took a years of therapy but it worked. I would hope Axl doesn't have any issues with impotence

  2. What about the fact he had throat surgery in the late 90s. I'd imagine like with all other surgeries it takes time to heal and you have to take it easy.

Now 2006-2010 he really pushed it. Was his voice damaged from 2011-2014? It's fine now so I would  chalk it up to being uninspired with the replacements of the replacements and mailing it in. Axl was forced out there out of necessity imo. He had to pay the bills like pay his hired Guns.

Going forward it's probably best that Axl continues to use the controlled rasp. He can do it without screaming and straining like 91

  3. Yes exactly! I wish the rockers on cd went more in the direction of OMG. It had elements of NIN but still had the GNR edge. If you really think about it OMG doesn't sound like anything you've heard on radio before. It sounded fresh and new whereas  the song CD sounds like it could've been a Nirvana song.

GNR fans just weren't quite ready for it as Slash leaving was so fresh in everyone mind. I will admit I thought it was blasphemy when I first heard it. I was 16 and just getting into GNR, AFD, UYI etc. so I wasn't at the stage in my fandom where I was going to be receptive to a new song. I needed to catch up and go through the process that Axl and the older fans had gone though. Looking back now they were a lot of fans 10yrs older who were into a new direction. They had already exhausted through the old material and we're excited about something new. This is all a lot more exciting to me than hearing GN'R still play the same 6-8 AFD songs. I don't know how a band like ACDC does it but it works for them. Their fans love them despite the fact they didn't evolve one bit. Although i always wonder if they would've evolved bad Bon not passed. Once they brought in Brian Johnson they became frozen in time as the goal was to find a seamless transition from Bon.

Like I said if only Slash was sober then and a little more patient and Axl of course hadn't forced his douchey Indiana buddy Tobias on the band. Axl, Slash, Duff & Matt had it in them to make an epic follow up to UYI. Like I also said they proved Axl right with their abilities to experiment in VR, Loaded & SMKC. With the help of some excellent electronic, boundary pushing,  Avant-garde musicians like Robin Finck & Melissa Reece or even Pittman if he wasn't such a douchey tool.

A lot of the hate I've seen over the years towards Axl is because of how the band broke up and what went on earlier with Adler & Izzy. Axl was certainly no saint in any of this.

I don't think the hate comes from Axl's vision in following up UYI. I think the fans at the time would've been very receptive to evolving and I think Axl sensed that they could pull it off. It's all the other nonsense that got in the way and they all share the blame.

A reunion is happening now for a multitude of reasons. One being they are all sober. They also have a more mature outlook on life. This is also the case with the Misfits. Danzig admitted that seeing his peers and idols die in 2016 put things into perspective. I'd imagine it was the same with GNR.

  4. Oh My God is a killer song. Probably better than half of CD. Certainly the best rocker out of the bunch or on par with Shacklers. I don't really count Better as a rocker.

OMG is way better than Scraped, Rhiad, CD etc

That song is so fuckin edgy. Especially Axl's mean vocals. A perfect evolution from Welcome to the Jungle and Appetite. The perfect follow up to AFD & UY! IMO

Cure Me...Or Kill Me, Skin N' Bones, and Tijuana Jail would've made amazing GN'R songs. Perfect fits for a post UYI record. Shame they were rejected. I asked Gilby once if his solo stuff was initially written for GN'R and he had said yes but Axl wasn't into it. Shame I didn't screenshot it.

I can totally see why Axl regected them. I love Gilby. Seen him and million times. Own all his records but you simply cannot follow UYI up with those songs or the Snakepit 1 songs for that matter and I consider myself a Slash guy more than anything.

Now if Slash was a little more patient and thats asking a lot considering his feud with Tobias and how douchey he was as evident by Sorums comments. But if Slash stuck around, put his ego aside and they eventually brought in Robin Finck, who Matt was very fond of. Pretty sure it was Matts idea to call Finck. Matt was very much into the electronic side of music and NIN at the time. Those guys would made the appropriate follow up to UYI.

And that was Axl's vision and Axl himself said Slash had it in him to push himself  and stray from his comfort zone for the better.

Slash and Duff proved that working with Scott in VR. And they continued experimenting with different sounds with Loaded and SMKC.

And the fact that they are playing CD songs proves that now that they are sober they understood and respect Axl's original vision for following up UYI

  6. What would happen if Izzy signed on? Izzy, Fortus & Slash is a little redundant.  I guess Fortus would handle some of bucket heads parts but that isn't much. Him and Izzy would be extremely redundant.

Finck, Buckethead & Fortus was great because they each brought their own style with Fortus assuming Izzy's role.

is Axl's loyalty to Fortus keeping Izzy out? Nah I'm sure it's the lack of commitment and lowball $$$ offer

  7. I guess it didn't matter as much or wasn't as noticeable with nu-guns because everyone was always focused on Finck and DJ screwing up the classics. Although I never had a problem with Finck because he was intentionally putting his own spin on them. DJ was trying to play like Slash and often failing miserably.

Drummer is different though. Drummer can't be off doing his own thing. He is the foundation and needs to be on the same page with the bass player. Especially with GN'R where the vocals and slash are the leads in 95% of their songs. The drummer and bass need to leave them room to breathe and do their thing. Axl is killing his voice when the tempo speeds up. And in turn it sounds like a car wreck when it happens

You really think the sped up temp is Frank alone? The band had plenty of rehearsals on their own. Why must it be solely Frank's fault? Perhaps it has been a conscious decision by the band to play them faster. The 2007 lineup which Frank was a part of played the classic songs at the 'proper' tempo...

some songs start of fine then get sped up and it sounds like a train wreck. See nu-guns doing Civil War

  9. There are a zillion drummers out there who would love to be in GNR.

Drummers who  can play the songs without screwing up the tempo and aren't the kind of personalities to rock the boat.

Sudden speeding up of the tempo on GNR classics whether it's nervous or lack of focus was never an issue with Brain.

Lets see what happens once the tour starts. Either Frank works on his chemistry with slash and duff and tightens up the loose ends or they start dropping the classics. Replace them with more Chinese songs which Frank plays just fine. But Frank would be dismissed before that happens

I've never seen anything remotely negative about Axl emanating from Sorum. I suppose Matt is the 'new Slash', nobody being able to quite fathom why Axl hates him so?

There may be some bad blood but no where near the level of the Axl/Slash feud. Whats really keeping Matt out if Axl's loyalty to Frank. Frank would have to step down. I would if Slash and Duff were lobbying for Matt. And I would understand and be totally cool with it. I guess its a tough call for Frank. He may never get the chance to be in a big band again whereas the others guys in nu-guns had their old bands to fall back on

So after loving the cover, mainly just because it was your favorite band playing it.......you haven't even taken five minutes to YouTube the original?

Who said they were the best band ever assembled? Or that you needed to have a patch of theirs on your pretend jacket?

It just seems peculiar that you wouldn't even take a couple minutes to listen to the original version seeing as it had such a strong influence on your idol that his band chose to record it. Heck, you might even like the original version better. Hard to make a claim which version you would like better without listening to both.

Have you every heard of Michael Monroe?

Thats what I loved about Spaghetti. GN'R and that record introduced me to great bands like The Damned, UK Subs, Misfits & Dead Boys. Attitude kicks ass and is probably one of the weaker Msfits songs! Thanks to GN'R I'm a much more rounded rock fan. From the Stones, Zeppelin, Pistols, to Motley Crue, Megadeth, Soundgarden & of course Faith No More!!

Oh I agree on a whole in that particular incident he wanted to play with the whole group which included Fortus. Fortus declined to share the stage with him. Which from my understanding Slash wanted Fortus before he joined GnR. Though I can't find ugh to back that up. I do however believe his statement of Slash wanting Fortus.

If that's true it was back when Slash was forming a band with the black crowed drummer. Pre-THE Project/VR. Before they played that the Randy Castillo benefit show with Izzy and Steven Tyler.

but I think Richard was already in GNR.

unless Slash wanted him for his first solo record or before forming the conspirators

  13. i can see the Misfits at some point with Guns. They have to announce a full tour first. They may only be doing big festivals for all we know.

Also Guns would have to feel them out and make sure they don't get caught in the middle of unwanted drama. Misfits like GN'R were a very volatile band. Maybe they've grown out of that. Certainly don't need another GNR/Metallica or Motley/Godsmack type situation happening at this stage. There would have to be a lot of mutual respect and understanding each other.

The conspirators would be great for some select dates!

If it was an arena tour I'd say Misfits could be a good fit. But no way in stadiums. That said, a co-reunion tour would be cool as shit, and it's not really something that's ever been done before.

Misfits are huge. Fans of all ages all over the world.

For some reason radio never played their songs. Maybe because they were lumped in with the other underground punk bands but they are more than that. They wrote countless timeless songs and albums

  15. yup thats exactly it which is why I had a hard time understanding ACDC fansand their reasoning as to why Axl could never pull of singing ACDC songs. I told them Axl would pull it off easily because he is a flat out better singer and they laughed
