Is "confirm" this SA tour is a "new show" or its only promotion to get more (good) ticket sales????
You know the answer to this...

Thinking about it, Dark Necessities takes a steaming dump on all three of these songs. Not a perfect song by any means, but it still sounds inspired and makes these songs sound pedestrian.
-
I don't mind Shotgun Blues or So Fine, honestly. So my choice is going to be GITR or Breakdown. I'd be (so) fine to see both of those out earlier on.
-
All the released songs thus far are getting worse. Black Summer grew on me quite a bit, but Poster Child and now this... kinda boring. Just wish they would go somewhere with these ideas. They're just kinda nothings.

I figured NR would win when this all started, so I'm glad to see Coma win. Also my personal favourite.

I'd say Absurd is easily the worst song they've released. At least My World ends quickly and isn't too repetitive.
I agree with this. Honestly, Absurd might take the cake for being the worst, even over My World, and that's because it took different incarnations of GNR to record, re-record, mix, and master a Frankenstein version of an already dreadful 20-year old song. At least My World was slipped in there without too much consideration. I can at least respect that as a gag. Still terrible, nevertheless.

There's nothing redeeming about My World. Nothing. Think of going from Estranged to You Could Be Mine to Don't Cry... and then to My World to end the album . It's an atomic bomb of mediocrity.

The first round for UYI2 should be a no brainer at least.
I'm hoping we don't have a massive amount of My World fans here.

As a fan of longer songs, I have to give the boot to Don't Cry here. NR is a classic and Coma is a chaotic beast. They both deserve to stay and go head-to-head.
-
The fact that Dead Horse is among the final four with three insanely good songs is hilarious, and I wouldn't expect any less from GNR fandom, honestly.
But really, it needs to go. It's sticking out like a sore thumb. Might as well have Shotgun Blues up with Civil War, Locomotive, and Estranged...

What the hell!?! Are people actually voting out Don't Damn Me?
The biggest GNR related mystery to me is why some people don't like that song. If you ask me it's up there with anything on Appetite and easily in the top 5 songs from this album.
What is there not to like? It has way deeper lyrics than for example Right Next Door To Hell and Axl's voice is strong as well. It's raspy, but Axl pronounces words much clearer than for example on RNDTH.
Instrumentally it's also cool with great riffs and solos and the songs isn't too repetititve like some other songs on the UYI albums. The slower part gives the song nice variation.
I'll never understand why some people don't like the song. To me it's like saying that you don't like Nightrain.
This. The fact that that song is going to get the boot over Dead Horse and Perfect Crime is baffling.

Don't Damn Me is an right choice. This is the way.
No. The fact that Dead Horse has lasted this long is disappointing. Come on, GNR fans.

Bad Apples is an atrocious song by GNR standards, so it has to go.

Thanks for the update Axl!
Trust me, I wish it was going to be the case. But an album by June? Not even going to come close to happening. They'll probably drop some singles on tour again, and that'll be that.

I'm still confident having read interviews with the band that we'll get a full album release by June or when they go back touring like Slash has confirmed
Not going to happen.

Speak for yourself
I was? I don't see anyone talking about their first three albums. Fair enough, people want to talk about the newest offering. But I haven't seen anything that's resurrecting any meaningful discussion of their first three albums. Probably because they're all bland.

Not really. You forget Slash was alive durong that period and has been playing that style of music for most of his life. It's like complaining that Steven Tyler released a solo album and it sounds like 70's era Aerosmith or even yet how people complained about KK Downing solo album sounding like Priest when that music has been engrained in their DNA.
You didn't answer my question. What other generic modern band sounds like SMKC? What other singer sounds like Myles Kennedy?
If you don't like the style or music that's fine to each their own but saying they sound like every other modern band is just absurd.
I have no problem with it being in his DNA. That's all normal, and it's going to come out that way no matter what. But the riffs are boring. Slash has done better, and can do better. It's derivative. I'm not saying people sound exactly like Miles. I just think he sounds bad. Much like many other retro-inspired rock bands. And yes, there are plenty. Black Stone Cherry, Rival Sons, Danko Jones, Dirty Honey, etc. I've named a few for you there. No, they don't all sound the exact same, but they're part of a movement of horribly derivative rock clichés. Slash is better than all that. He was around before these clichés came about, and yet, he's fallen into them. It's sad to see for me, and I'm a big fan.
I never said they all sound the same. I said that they all go for that vibe, and SMKC is no different. I just wish they did it better. And yes, I get it. If I don't like it, I don't have to listen to it. But like I've said, Slash is just so much better than this. I'm not expecting some ridiculous late-career renaissance here, but from what I've heard off the new album, it's not anything I haven't heard from him before. And he's done it better in the past. If you enjoy it, that's all good. I just wish he would push himself harder, because it's just not an inspiring sound to me.

Zep are a decent band I'll give you that one fella. Imagine if Myles had ended up singing for them. What would have chose razorblades or a noose?
I'd rather not imagine that, but thank you.

Huh! They release new music, change the setlist and don't play the same cover songs for 30 years.
Go to a show and decide if you like it after the show rather than before
Again, I'm not defending GNR. They're the definition of autopilot. Why would I go to an SMKC show if I don't like their music? Like I said, I'm sure they put on a fine show, but them releasing record after record of uninspired rock music proves that quantity doesn't trump quality.

What other "generic modern rock" band sounds like SMKC? 4 sounds anything but generic, the riffs and hooks Slash wrote are pretty creative and has a throwback 70's/80's rock vibe for the most part. Even Myles whose voice is an acquired taste has a distinctive voice.
You just said it's a throwback rock vibe. There are numerous modern rock bands who do the same thing. So you just proved my point. I give them credit for churning out these milquetoast efforts that people will forget in a year, but they're not doing anything exciting here.

I see only one band that runs on autopilot and rips fans from money year by year, giving nothing in exchange.
Wouldn't argue with that either. And the two singles prove they're also on autopilot. However, at the end of the day, I'd rather see them half-ass performances of Civil War and Nightrain over another band doing painfully generic modern rock.

Come to a show, then tell me if you still think they're on autopilot.
I'll pass. I'm sure they put on a lovely show, but until their studio material makes me want to see them, I don't have any motivation.

Anything would be better than the puddle water that is SMKC. Truly a band on autopilot.

If GNR's new album sounds anything like Slash's new album, it'll stick out like the sorest of thumbs next to actually well-produced albums like AFD, the UYI albums, or even CD. Avoid that sound at all costs.

Mixed-to-positive feelings on the boba finale, from my side.
in other news: the Kenobi show is now confirmed to start on May 25th.
Thank fuck. Even as a big SW fan, I don't care about Boba Fett one bit. Much more interested in Kenobi's story.

Use Your Illusion II Survivor - Round 5

Civil War better win out. Then we can have the greatest one-two punch of winners for GNR: Coma (the end of UYI I) and Civil War (the beginning of UYI II). Titans. This is how it should be.
