I don't really think GNR are having issues with selling tickets though to be fair, they've been out since 2016 and last year they were still playing to mostly full stadiums... obviously Beyonce with her huge promotional comeback album and tour is going to sell tickets, GNR somehow manage to sell tickets despite themselves. And it's not a stampede, but a steady trickle that sells GNR tickets these days... and if Beyonce toured every year, her sales would be slower too.

As far as GNR not releasing the remainder of dates, Megadeth just announced their 2023 dates this week, it's not too late to sell out shows.

Megadeth announced a plethora of festival dates in Europe. Those don't really revolve around them specifically. They sprinkle shows in between those, but it's not exactly a massive stadium/arena tour.

They did play stadiums last year. They played stadiums in the US 2 years ago, when all of you said that no one will show up. So really, shove it with your arrogance. Why shouldn't they be able to do so again? A limited run, in different cities. Why not? And no one is talking about every show being sold out. Also tickets for GNR don't cost thousands of dollars.

Your head is in the clouds. Tickets have gotten more expensive, travel has gotten more expensive. Touring has gotten more expensive. The whole point is that the band can't wait too long to announce something because people have to be able to put money aside if they want to go to these things. It's not the same as it was even two years ago. They no longer have that luxury. Obviously their tickets don't cost thousands of dollars. That wasn't the point. The point was that Beyoncé can announce the show whenever she pleases and it would sell out because people would throw money at her. GNR has people that will do that, of course. But not even close to the same numbers as someone who is actually relevant. Not even in the same stratosphere. Relevance matters.

You can tell me to shove it all you want. You clearly think GNR is in some odd bubble world and if that's your safe zone, then good for you. Enjoy it. Doesn't really change anything that I've said. It's a reality. GNR should make a big stink when it comes to touring and new material. We know that to not be the case anymore. But it would help them in the long run.

  3. Some of you live in a fantasy world. Beyoncé can drop dates and people will pay thousands of dollars and it'll sell out without issue. I think some of you legitimately think GNR will drop a stadium tour announcement (of any capacity) and legions of people will be foaming at the mouths, stampeding each other to buy tickets.

I'm not sure what some of you are smoking, but kindly pass it over.

  4. I really don't think Axl cares about the success of these songs. If he did, he wouldn't have chosen to resurrect Silkworms of all songs. Imagine bringing a 20-year old song back out, doing musical surgery on it to include current members, making it even shittier than before, only to care about a potentially mediocre reception. Axl has some odd tendencies, but that would take the cake.

How many Fridays left before 2025?

Maybe they are waiting until 2028, for the CD 3-disc anniversary release to happen which will include CD2 and CD3 and the remix album.

Then they can work on the next album.

Crazy to think that it's inching closer to the 20th anniversary of CD, and we've gotten two poor afterthoughts as songs since its release. Then, when you factor in the disappointing boxsets of classic albums that omitted any interesting side material, you're left with, arguably, the most interesting potential anniversary release of them all in CD. I mean, let's be honest, we're not getting an all new album in the next five years. So, it's the anniversary to which we look forward.

Maybe this was Axl's plan all along. Overshadow the classic era of the band by showcasing how interesting CD's leftovers will be on the 20th anniversary edition. All those alternate mixes, versions, new songs, etc. It's a goldmine. Clever bastard.

  6. I'm extremely critical of the band, but if they're actually touring Canada (not sure where this rumour comes from), and they come near me, you bet your ass I'm going. Mind you, last time I saw them was 2010, and so I'll have to mentally prepare myself for the extreme difference in Axl's vocals. But whatever.

That is all it will be.. Absurd and Hardschool were the nail in the coffin for this band as far as I am concerned. At least for any hope of credible half decent music. This lineup still kind of blows anyway.

This. The whole point of releasing those two turds for singles was that it was a sign of things to come. To show that it was possible for them to release new music, but that it would just be in chunks so they could release some of it faster. It's an optimistic approach if you actually follow through with it.

I could understand it if they had actually re-recorded these shit songs instead. At least to give them a more organic feel. But pasting parts and compressing everything together means we should've gotten CD2 and CD3 by now, if we're going to go by these shitty standards.

TWAT’s greatest accomplishment, to me, is that it creates a vibe. It just sounds like a bitter, rich-trashy, California ‘fuck you’ of a breakup song, which it is. Very well done.

…though I hate the chorus. They kept messing with the chords in the various iterations, but the real culprit was the melody line. “It was a wrong time for you, it was a wrong time for me…”. The melody in the chorus is weak, and he should have just started over again and written a new chorus there.

Still, the verses, bridge, and that explosive ending really make up for it.

I somewhat agree with the chorus bit, but I also disagree. On its own, I don't think it works tremendously. But with the way it plays out and then melts back into verses, it seems to fit quite well.

Weren't those other mixes just supposed to make the songs have the surround sound to them? Not to make the songs "sound different" from the original mix, I don't think the band wanted to make a "new" mix for the albums, NR only has a new mix because that was the only way to add the orchestra.

There are many different intricacies when remixing something into 5.1/7.1. Depending on who's working with it, it could be a whole new experience for the listener. If it's a lazy remix done by a shitty engineer, it could be nothing noteworthy at all. It really just depends. With Wilson, I want to hear those mixes because he takes a lot of care into doing what he does. The Illusions would've sounded better than anyone could've imagined. Instead, we just get remasters. It's a shame, really.
