Why does it always have to be either black or white with you guys? Let' say he'll have prepared about 5 new songs by 2023/24; then he'll add 5+ revamped CD2 tunes, and bam, there you go, a new album. Both creative and using shelf stuff. Plus if he comes up with songs like Prostitute - there's no rasp, he can nail that. Nothing impossible about either of these things.
This scenario would've been fine in 2014. Ten years later? With five brand new songs as well?
Nah.

So what your saying is, if Axl had not been making music and touring with a carousel of musicians from 97-15, there would have been no fan interest in a reunion tour?
No. Fan interest would've always remained. There are probably thousands of fans outside of these forums who think Slash and Duff never left, or at least came back a lot earlier. GNR remained in the public consciousness long enough (and hung on by a thread) because they were constantly touring, and because Chinese Democracy became this mythological beast until the end of 2008. They weren't putting up stadium numbers, but if they had stayed dormant after 1996, only to revive the band in 2016, I'm not sure Axl would've even bothered at that point. Him staying active enough is more of a catalyst than people may think.

People comparing what Slash is saying vs what BBF, Tommy, 4tus etc have said pre-reunion is ridiculous. Slash has way more fucking pull than any other band member prior to his return. That’s the reality.
And GNR survived just fine before Slash and Duff came back? Are you sure about that? Cause when I last saw Guns before the reunion, it was in a 7,000 person venue. If Slash and Dufe leave again, that’s a wrap on stadium and arena shows.
There's no such thing as "pull" in GNR. Slash isn't going to get the record done by himself.
And yes, GNR survived without them. Otherwise, Slash and Duff wouldn't have had a multi-million dollar machine to return to in 2016. It's a simple fact. People may not like the former lineup of GNR, which is fine. But if the band folded during that era, getting Axl even close to a reunion would've been a much steeper mountain to climb.

But this forum had me convinced that Use Your Illusion III was going to accompany the boxset next month. What the fuck?
But seriously, we'll get 2 "new" songs in the next year, they'll tour, and then the recording of a new album will never happen. Ever. I know people want to be excited about this, and I really want it to happen, but it's not going to happen. Slash saying, "Hey, well, I want to record a new GNR record" carries the same amount of weight as people on this forum saying they want them to record a new album.
If a brand new GNR album comes out in 2035, I'll gladly admit I was wrong. Until then, I'm pretty convinced that the leftovers are all we're going to hear from this lineup. Still going to be fun to hear those tunes, no doubt about that. But I'm not expecting one brand new note of GNR music.

Saying this on a GNR forum is hilarious. GNR. A band that released two painfully limp singles after 13 years of no music, and that has been touring endlessly to make millions of dollars. On top of that, RHCP is also touring to support both albums, which is what real bands do.
People can dislike their music all they want. It's not even my favourite music. Not even close. But the arguments here are actually laughable.

Not when you consider that 90% of that material is horseshit. I like the Chili's, but they didn't really have enough good material to fill up an EP, let alone two albums in one year.
Means nothing. People will say that about CD and half the Illusions. The point that the Chilis are more prolific is valid.

Love the song. Wacky, heavy, and energetic. Really helps to keep the momentum going at the start of CD.

You must be on drugs if you think that ANY GNR drummer is better than Josh Freese.
Agreed. Freese is a beast.

Did what they were playing ever get confirmed as a new song though? I want to believe in that and believe it could be Oklahoma, but since we don't know I think it could be disappointing if we believe in it and it just ends up being a jam or something, so have been trying to take it as face value.
This is what I'm wondering, too. The soundcheck of a mysterious song is nice and all, but is there any actual confirmation it's an actual new song that's going to be released? Or are people just using these clips and the Spotify nonsense to try to get a spark with two figs?

I'm sure the actual show will be the one you get in the set. Still, considering it's just a music video, they should've just dropped this yesterday. This whole thing about premiering it and then releasing it later is a big letdown.

I hate that I saw a suggestion of UYI 3. I'm forbidding myself from thinking of how cool that would be.
Don't worry, so is GNR.

If UYI III comes out with the boxset, I will do a livestream of me eating a leather shoe with a knife and fork.

What’s this? A day of lull inbtween weeks of frantic excitement over possible Spotify uploads followed by the band rehearsing new music bores you to sleep? You need more to keep you engaged and excited? Oh, I am sooo sorry. Have I got bad news for you. It doesn't get better than this. This is the pinnacle of GN'R fandom, it is what keeps the fan base alive. It is only beaten by the very rare release of new music, but that only happens once per generation. This is as good as it gets.
You’re right. This is as good as it gets. A fact that is more nauseating than yawn inducing. So, I’ll give you that.

Yeah it might not be, truth is we don't know. But to say it's a gigantic stretch is completely hyperbolic
If an ex drummer that they are on friendly terms with showed Frank a part of a song, that is not the same as Buckethead showing an original and founding member of the band how to play the solo to TWAT, a song already written and released.
You are drawing a false equivalence and I'm not really sure why.
No such thing as a false equivalency in GNRland.
You’re not sure why? This thread is pure lunacy at this point.

"Brain is teaching Frank the new song" is one of the craziest hopium theories I've seen here, and we've had our fair share.
Yeah, this is a gigantic stretch, even for GNR fans. I hear Bucket also joined them at specific dates to teach Slash the TWAT solo.

Part of me wonders if that's why the Dj Bumble era ended. He maybe just realized I cant write with these folks, and I cant write for them as they are not holding up there end.
And so Axl reunited with older members to once again not write/release anything original. Just noodling over 20 year old songs instead.

Be careful what you wish for.
Some things are better off left behind in he past. After HS and Absurd, I am honestly not sure I want to hear new music of this line up.
Nah. I can't stand Absurd and think HS is a terrible re-work of a demo that was leagues better. But I still want to hear new music, even if it's not really all that new. If they can somehow Frankenstein some good songs together into an album, I'll take it.

This is so fucked
So, essentially, GNR fans are lazy typists. Can't even hit the Shift/Caps Lock key.
They're even lazier than the band.

Just search for "Spotify employee" and GNR will pop up at this point.

Ballad of death proves nothing. It's not an algorithm. Anyone who still thinks its an algorithm has absolutely zero idea about how these things work and must also believe it affects GnR only.
That's the thing. I don't care about how algorithms work. I just know how GNR works. And we should all know how they work by now.

That song is everything wrong with modern rock music. If I wanted amateurish production with horrific vocals and generic riffs, I'd record my own song. These guys should be better.
