I agree. There was always that mystique that they were sitting on gold, but this stuff is not it. Not for me, at least. I still think the leaks are neat and show the energy of what was recorded at the time, but these glued-together songs are beyond disappointing. They are shells of what they once were. If GNR wanted to really re-work these and suck all the life and soul out of them with this new lineup, well, they succeeded. Some will say we were never meant to hear the leaks and blah blah. But, they're there. In reality, they sound like products of their time, and they're all the better for it. These new Frankenstein songs, with parts thrown in and mashed up, with newer (and much shittier!) production values? They're the epitome of deflating. Maybe they'll release Monsters sometime next September and we can have close to half a new album by 2025.

What’s your track list for CDII?
Zeppelin replied to AxlRoseCDII's topic in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Anything that doesn't include Absurd and a bunch of covers. Package that and put it out. -
Lol sending out a delay message at the eleventh hour. What a bunch of pricks. Would be nice to get a gesture of goodwill and have the band just release the song anyway, but this is the most dangerous band in the world. They needed that vinyl exclusive just to prolong the mythical status of this song.

GNR releasing a new album on a Sunday! The most dangerous band in the world is showing the world they don't care about predictable release dates! GNFNRsssssssssss. Oh wait. You say the 15th as well? A Wednesday?! GNR don't give a fuck. Good work, Jason. -
Atlas Shrugged (November Release?)

I'm so comfortable in my knowledge of GNR's album release plans (or lack thereof) that I know I'll never have to do anything like this. But maybe Dexter will see the forum and ramp up album release plans just to spite me. -
Atlas Shrugged (November Release?)

Yup. Just enjoy The General everyone. If GNR puts out some surprise new album in November, I'll broadcast myself, live, eating a copy of CD. -
I’m not an engineer, but a song can have everything audible, but still be poorly mixed. Nothing breathes in the song whatsoever. It’s unfair to compare to something like AFD, since it has such great sound. But it sounds like everything has its place on that record. By contrast, HS sounds like everything is competing for space, and nothing is ever going to win. Beyond that, the instruments have zero balls. There are no great tones and there’s no oomph to the sound, other than horrendous amounts of brickwalling.

This is one of the things that bothers me about these song releases. Good to have music out, but it would've been better to construct an EP (or an album... but let's be real) with consistent production throughout (consistent also meaning competent production), so that these songs could all be appreciated in a certain context. I know most know the origins of these songs, and so they come from different times, stages, etc. But they could've curated something a bit more purposeful, which would've allowed the songs to have a true second life in something more carefully thought out. Oh well.
