That finding it in the Spotify search is a smoking gun, we did it once and it was for Old Skool, both those songs have been uploaded in some form to Spotify.  We just don't know when they will be released, not *if* the will..

While I agree with the general sentiment of your post, we don't actually _know_ the songs will be released.

We could have misunderstood context and correlations. Plans could change (and I'm convinced they often do in Gn'R Land).

But it's definitely more than just thin air. Hardcore fans of other artists have reported here, that the Spotify search thing works like that for unreleased but officially announced songs set to come out in november.

Unless it is picking up on search terms made by logged in GNR fans in specific regions, and then showing GNR as a related artist when others in the region (regardless of their listening habits or log in status) type the song in.

An interesting thought. But why Wichita Lineman and nothing else here in Austria?

Personally I never looked for WL before yesterday and it's hard to imagine, that a sufficient number of Austrian Gn'R fans did so.

  3. 10-15 years ago I wasn't very different from who I am right now, but in general I've experienced, that I suddenly see songs completely different. Maybe because I've paid more attention to them or maybe because my conciousness has changed is hard to tell.

My perception of The Unforgiven hasn't changed since the beginning, but I've always paid attention.

Recent examples of songs that changed meaning are Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly (an ode tp the transcendent power of music) and Laura Brannigan's Self Control (one of the better descriptions of cocain addiction in popular music).

Eta: I want to add Michael Jackson's Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' to the list. This song is just so phenomenal and meaningful. Must be Jackson's best lyrics. I've just never paid enough attention before to fully grasp it.

  4. I hardly ever do this any more. 2022 so far:

    F.K.A Twigs - Caprisongs (It's like taking a ride at a Themepark)

    Ghost - Impera

The Weeknd - Dawn FM (I hate to love this record 😅, but it sounds so good...)

    Sohn - Trust (beautiful)

Eta: I also listened to Appetite for Destruction,  Chinese Democracy and a few Buckethead Pikes.

He probably had a Slash complex

You serious non gossiping men missed all the elaborate discussions in the Women's Thread a few years back. Of course he had a Slash complex. 😄😉

  6. All lyrics Slash has ever written and released are about Axl. He said so himself in his book and to members of Insane Clown Posse (it's in their book). Personally I have my doubts about 'I Hate Everyone But You', but who knows.

  7. Honestly, this is one of my all time favorite songs. It is a brillant dark pop song!

But you don't have to be a fan of the music to acknowledge that David Fincher is a genius. With just a few pictures and in just a few minutes he tells a rather complex story.

This was painful. Between YCBM and Locomotive. Reluctantly chose Locomotive despite having one of the best GNR outros. I think overall YCBM is more consistently better through the whole song.

Same here. Locomotive has got the far better lyrics too.
