Yeah, although the VR question was a bit "out there" considering how much time has gone by and how many projects Slash has going on currently.

Well it's better than all the other GnR questions that he's asked in every other interview.

Well Slash has never really said definitively that he was done with it. There were people here wondering about the status so a worthwhile question. And let's face it, he was cuffed not being able to ask gnr questions which he clearly avoided and didn't elaborate on whenever he easily could have... So what else was he going to say😄

Right, it kind of fizzled out and they stopped talking about it, but now he's said that it's actually over and has been for a while. Which is probably for the better, because I don't think doing VR 20 years after Contraband came out would be as fun or exciting.

So this is actually the June issue, so it won't be in stores until then (or ship until then if you order it online). Same with the Total Guitar mag.

Time to add my three cents on Katowice, Poland show.

Me and my crew were there at the venue since 10:00AM, preparing the surprise for the band.

We pumped 200 balloons in the form of '4' to celebrate newest SMKC album, also called '4'. We brought those up after Mammoth WVH, shortly before the SMKC show started. Handed them to people in front rows. Even though a good part of balloons didn't make it before the show started, it's been quickly noticed by the band and later during the set Myles appreciated it once again, talking about polish fans always being special to the band.

Around 4:00PM we've been invited by Cheryl Hall (SMKC Tour Manager) and Slash's new bodyguard Mike to the soundcheck. We could watch it in full - not my first time but hearing Slash's guitar alone and raw is always something unique. There we have had a scheduled meeting with the band, where guys signed the middle section of our 2013 welcoming flag (check video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k9DQVH0YeA&ab_channel=LiveMusicPL), which at the time was 12 meters long. Eleven years ago we cut it in few parts and sold all of them for charity, current owner of the middle (biggest) section of the flag reached me and I arranged the meeting. Entire band signed it and we will auction it for charity again early next winter. Here are some photos of guys signing it:

The show itself was really good, band as always was super tight and the chemistry was obviously floating around. Myles has been sick for few days already which you could hear while talking to him, but he did a really good job on the show itself. It's a nice addition to have Todd singing 3 fastpaced songs, those were like nitro boosters to the audience. Rocket Man is something that any Slash's fan should hear live, both pedal steel and Myles' vocals makes it a magical time in the set. Guys were tired, you can tell that playing a show each day in different countries isn't for them anymore, you won't fool the clock. They aged and you can see it.

I was hoping for some private moment between SMKC and the audience, Slash even teased us with Paradise City intro after Myles thanked us for the surprise, but nothing happened. I rate the night 10/10 though, guys, the management and security were super kind to us, Slash got late to an interview because he did not rush our meeting with the band. Super guy, amazes me everytime I meet him.

Ok great, I'm going to see if my local bookstore has it first before I order it online. In my experience magazines direct takes forever to ship.

Yeah Slash has a pretty tacky style when it comes to graphic design. Just look at the Apocalyptic Love album cover, it's like everything a 12 year old thinks is cool smashed together. Don't get me started on the LTD cover...

Yeah… no. I actually like the AL cover, as an album cover, a lot. It seems old school compared to his first solo record and WoF for example. But yeah, Living The Dream’s album cover, as much as I dig the record, is god awful 🤣

It's because he worked with that weird artist, Ron English (who also did the WoF cover). I thought it would look so much better if they just had a nice pic of the band with the logo above them or something like that, instead of this weird tacky stuff.

Yes some made it a sport last summer to collect the bandaids he wears on his hands to keep the jewelry from slipping off his fingers. I also couldn't believe it at first but they proudly posted photos and told their stories how they supposedly got the bandaids from the security guys after the gigs and collected them. Every time one of them got one she posted it and got congrats from the others.

Not to derail the thread any further but maybe this way everyone can judge for themselves if it's nonsense or not - I looked up some of those posts on FB I mentioned earlier on, so you guys can see for yourself.

My favorite thing out of those two tracks is Steven Tyler blasting out his harmonica. So cool, I'm happy he's still doing ok.

Other than that, it's cool for what it is, it's a change from what Slash is generally playing, kind of refreshing for sure, but I don't see myself playing this on repeat and

certainly not the kind of material strong enough to justify me buying a ticket for a gig.

It's like cool little bonus tracks. I don't know whether Slash offered the material to Axl, but I can't picture him singing on these. Not for Guns anyway, doesn't suit the mood.

Looking at Slash's setlists, there's not much I'd pay for. If he'd add Back to the moment and Serial Killer, maybe. I'd love to hear those two live, my favorite songs of his.

I hope he has far better material for the album. Otherwise, just like what Duff has released, I don't see the point. I don't mean this in a harsh way, it's cool

they're still working and touring, sure, but I don't find this exciting. I even feels it diminishes their comeback for an upcoming Gn'R tour.

See, as much as a lot of people bash Axl constantly, and the lack of new real music, I enjoy his rarity. When he appears, even if it's something we've heard too many times,

    it still feels special.

I'm not even sure whether I prefer hearing average new songs than no song at all. I'm just like "yeah ok, but what's the point?".

And regarding live gigs, if the frontman is Myles Kennedy, I just can't picture myself going through this. I need a charismatic frontman to cope with all the waiting, all these people and the sweat.

Sorry, maybe this post feels a bit too negative but just what I feel.

They should do a megatour with Axl & Tyler rotating between songs and mixing their material. Or better, Gn'R + Aerosmith, with feats in each show.

Who the f wants to watch Myles for 2 hours, frankly?

Rant over, sorry, needed to be said.

Wrong thread, SMKC is in the Slash section.

    Here's Serial Killer

The drummer situation can be solved, Bring Brent fitz in and it wil be great !! Last tuesday went to the Conspirators in Amsterdam, Brent is the un sung hero of the band !! Damn he is realy good !!! It was one of best gigs if seen from the Conspirators.

Axl can still sound good in a studio, live is a different story...........

100%, Fitzy is one of the best. Current GnR would sound 100x better if he (or someone like him) was behind the kit.

Same.. I have very little interest in what Gn'R do anymore. They could hang it up tomorrow and it would probably be for the better.. I'll still go see them live for nostalgia purposes and to see Slash play the classics live but if I had a chance to see this tour over Guns, I would choose this one...

I feel the same way. The tour last year was cool and fun to follow online here because of the changes in the set and the overall positive energy but otherwise there's nothing exciting going on there anymore.

Not just Axl but Slash also needs to realize how much better this is mixed than the last two SMKC albums. Neither of them seem to have a great ear for mixing and production.

LtD was fine but 4 sounded like a demo from a rehearsal. I agree with your 2nd sentence though. I've found that most musicians don't pick up on the finer details in the mix the same way that mixing engineers and producers can.

Like I said previously, that's not comparing apples to apples. There are several versions of the Standard, and the one you linked has a AA top. A Standard with a AAA top costs the same as a Slash model:

Oh I didn't know you were referring to that one. Yeah and it being a Sweetwater exclusive also contributes to the price, but you're right it's also because of the AAA top.

  10. 6 hours ago, evilfacelessturtle said:

Yep, which is the same as a Standard. I was shocked that Gibson didn't upcharge for a signature model. I wonder if Slash had a hand in that decision.

No the Slash Collection is $200 more than the regular Standards (in the US anyway).
