It's like some people don't understand the concept of "greatest hits". I always thought the title gave it away. Not much room for interpretation.
Is this a GNR thing or across the board? Does anyone want a Chicago greatest hits that excludes the 1970s-80s material?
The concept of a greatest hits album not including any of the greatest hits certainly is an idea

I wonder who except collectors buys a GNR greatest hits in any form or shape? They got four albums and an EP, five if you count TSI which is a cover album. You can basically get their entire catalogue on Ebay for less than half the price of a new CD and make your own best of.
Reminds me of The Doors. They have a ton of greatest hits compilations, but only nine studio albums. It's like going to the cinema and see only trailers instead of full length movies. GNR needs to be experienced live and through their full length albums.
The album sold over 10 mil to be fair. It's one of the top 250 selling albums of all time iirc

Agreed! Slash hasn’t put out anything bad, but the last two SMKC weren’t nearly as good as the first two. I’m really looking forward to his next all star album.
Same!!

If any of you haven't seen Bucket perform live, you owe it to yourselves to add THAT to your bucket list.
I was at the Philadelphia no show in 2002 lol

I agree it's probably solo Ozzy's peak but man, solo Ozzy doesn't hold a candle to Black Sabbath's first 6 albums, IMO
I'm glad you said first 6 because a lot of people leave out Sabotage but that is a badass record.
No I am a huge Sabbath fan. Ozzy solo can't compare to Sabbath.

50 bones LOL
The record looks like a toilet bowl somebody just pissed in

Does anyone else realize we are basically waiting for a song like No More Tears from Ozzy? haha. That song just came on shuffle for me, and I realized..it basically fits ALL the things we know about The General. I seriously don't believe it will be half as great as such an all time classic song but it comes VERY close to what we expect, doesn't it?
Funny I just heard that song the other week, and it had been the first time in a while and I just sat with it thinking what a fucking amazing tune. The whole album really. That's Ozzy at his absolute best.

Aside from the artwork – which you can put on posters, t-shirts etc. anyway – what's the appeal? Having a physical thing to collect? I can sort of buy that reason but not much else.
The sound quality isn't as good as a modern, lossless formats, and the present day vinyls aren't even properly produced as vinyls – they just paste the track onto the format as is, it isn't made for it, so that too affects it.
Someone woke up one day and decided vinyl was the way to go again and everyone just blindly followed suit. The same was tried with casettes and thankfully the world's coming to its senses on that one.
It just exists for the sake of it. There's a reason it died out in the first place.
For me it's just the experience. I love sitting down with a record and the artwork and the fact there are only a few songs per side really makes you focus on it. When I stream music it's usually in the back ground when I'm doing something like cleaning, or driving, or exercising. But when I listen to a record that is my focus, it's an experience. And I enjoy that. And it makes me glad to know the bands that I love are getting paid for the art that I love.

Always a sad day to hear Better is back in the setlist.
One of my favorite songs. I don't understand why Axl struggles so much with it. But it should be dropped if he can't figure out a different vocal approach to it

I actually heard Perhaps twice on Sirius and once on local radio today...then they play a show and don't play it.
I have heard perhaps on Sirius radio more than I heard hard skool and absurd combined.
I guess Axl just wasn't up to it tonight! I'm sure it'll be back in the set soon. I mean if he still is willing to play better lmao
-
I think Axl would really struggle on IRS but I think it's one of the more classic sounding GnR songs off of CD and would sound great with Slash and Duff.
I would love to hear Shackler's Revenge too.
I'm fine without the other 3 though. Even tho I like them all I really don't have desire to hear any of them live at this point

Eh I like LTD and 4. First two albums were definitely better but the last two were good too

They play playoff baseball games at that stadium in October and even early November. There is plenty of time to reschedule a concert. Especially since the Cards missed the playoffs this year.

So many heartless people in here who just view the band as a robot or something. These are humans like you and I and clearly they wouldn't cancel unless someone was seriously ill. Everyone in the band outside of Melissa is at an older age and it could be something serious. Have a heart and fuck off

Just heard Perhaps on Ozzys Boneyard-and it wasn’t 3 Chords & The Truth. First time….hopefully it starts getting regular play.
I've actually heard it on Octane a few times!!

1 & 2 is Slash.
As for #3 honestly I think the band is great as it is. Everyone plays well, they get along, they are happy and they just seem like a well oiled machine. I would say Brain as he is an incredible drummer or Izzy dor obvious reasons but I don't think either would want to tour to the extent that the current version does or play as lengthy of shows either.
-
Izzy left the band when I was 7 years old and has largely been out of the industry since I was old enough to buy albums.
Some people around here talk about him like he is a mythical creature, but idk. I hope he is living a comfortable life and is happy but he really isn't someone I spend a lot of time thinking about. People are upset he didn't rejoin the band when he hasn't even really toured at all in the last 30 years.
Glad he was around from 83-91 tho.

Wow.
On Earthcam, you can see a lot of folks leaving after Nightrain. After Axl said "Goodnight!"
Either they didn't know about the encore, or they wanted to beat the traffic jam that would happen once the show ended.
The show is 3 hours so I guess I can understand why people would try to beat traffic. I personally am going to stay for every song no matter what but I am also mentally ill lol

I think we have a to remember they've only played it twice..it'll improve over time, hard Skool has and absurd definitely has...it was a mess 1st time out .it rocks now live at a gig, if you know it and aren't a casual just there for scom and NR
For the record I don't think it's performed bad at all. There is room for improvement and I bi if will improve but I think it sounds fine as is. Axl nails some of it. Just has to figure out the rest

Hey I saw that show too earlier this summer.
If was great to see Coal Chamber again. They absolutely killed it. Mudvayne was great and Gwar was fun too. Great show.
Definitely an odd show to promote Perhaps at tho hahaha

Not that I believe it, but now someone on 4chan is claiming Atlas Shrugged is actually the name of the album, and that the tracklist is:
1.Oh My God
2.Hard Skool
3.Atlas Shrugged
4.Perhaps
5.The General
6.Berlin
7.Seven
8.In This Grave
9.Absurd
10.Thyme
LOL

Yikes! That live version doesn't do the song justice. Well, the vocals don't. Instrumentally it's fine.
It might sound better if Melissa would handle those "hey hey's" on the verses. I don't know. Axl is all over the place and it doesn't as good as it could. They need to do some vocal arranging.
These new songs would be a perfect opportunity to craft material for his current voice
I said the same thing in another thread about Melissa doing the "hey hey" part. I think it would work a lot better

Slash’s solo is just fine
dont know why people have problem with it
its not shredding so…all good
People are used to Robin's solo, so pretty much anything else was going to stick out like a sore thumb. If they heard it with Slash's solo first they would have enjoyed it a lot more.

If GNR ever goes into the studio to record a new album I have no doubt Frank will be on drums. So no he is not a touring musician. The band just hasn't written or recorded any new songs in 20ish years lol. As of now he is the last drummer who has recorded anything with the band
