I ve seen worse 🤣 bon jovi is really really embarrassing. Axl has good and bad days

I think the longer breaks between shows this year are partially designed so Axl can allow his vocal cords to recover more fully. It's a wise move. We shouldn't expect him to do back to back nights singing songs like You Could Be Mine, Welcome To The Jungle, or other songs that put a lot of strain on his voice.

I haven't even looked at pricing, but have read many people surprised by how high tix are. Are nosebleeds really $100 a piece?

I actually think tickets prices dropped a little from 2020, at least for the Fenway Park show in Boston.

Not sure if there's really such a thing as a nosebleed seat anymore, since the bigger touring bands use giant video screens that anyone in the stadium or arena can see easily.

  3. I bought the premium Nightrain package. First time. Seemed reasonable for $89. To get a t-shirt, hat, live CD, and surprise gift (maybe the Ritz 91 lithograph?) for under $100 bucks was money I could justify spending.

Will probably buy up to three tickets for the 8/21 Boston Fenway Park show. Had tickets for the same venue in 2020, but COVID caused the reschedule and I ended up getting a refund.

It's also available on the band's merch website, and also store.nascar.com when you click on the number 43

I may buy one, but not if the car finishes in last place. Needs to be a top ten or better

They've grossed north of $500M over the last six years and have been one of the biggest bands in the world for the last 35 years, they don't need exposure anymore.

If Metallica did this, you'd be saying "Why can't Guns N' Roses do something like this?"

I get it, Metallica has a new record coming out in April, while we see nothing new on the Guns horizon. Perhaps, as unlikely as it might seem right now, this car sponsorship is the stepping stone to a very proactive 2023. And who knows? Maybe if the car wins Daytona, the band releases a new song to mark the victory.

One thing is certain: putting their name on a car for the Daytona 500 did not come cheap for the band. If they invested that much money, they expect to make it back. If the car finishes first or in the top five, there will be a lot of money in the form of merchandise sales coming back to them.

The problem is that Guns N Roses is now a legacy band and even Axl performs live too bad, they will attend the show, but if Guns N Roses decides to release a new album/song/ep people expects something more, something as good as 30 years ago, and this I think that everybody knows It would not happen, even Axl, that's probably the main reason for not expecting Axl to attend the studio frequently, that's my point

Yeah, even with their small catalog, Guns can play arenas and stadiums to near capacity, as long as Slash and Duff stick around. There's only a handful of bands that have been able to do it--Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Eagles, AC/DC, KISS during their reunion tour. Certainly, Led Zeppelin could have done it with Jason Bonham.

If a new album eventually sees the light of day, great, but I was fortunate to be in high school when Appetite For Destruction hit, so the band has been part of my life for more than two-thirds of it. Anything new is a bonus for me now.

Does he talk shit about Axl because I know they hated each other.  Everyone has their version of stuff. I never liked Matt so won't read his book.

I didn't care for Matt's drumming style on the Use Your Illusion records. It came across as rather straightforward and technical, and lacking in a rock n' roll feel like Adler brought to Guns.

I did think his short solo on the Ritz '91 blu-ray was good, though, so I'm perplexed as to why his techniques on the albums seemed so robotic.

If Axl wanted Matt back in any way, he would have invited him to guest on the NITL tour for a couple of songs, like what was done with Adler. Frank wasn't going anywhere.

  8. I finally got my 4 LP special limited edition vinyl yesterday. Had some shipping issues--some lazy fuck at FedEx didn't want to deliver it in the heart of the busy season last month, so he/she put a code on it that said I refused it--but it's finally in my hands. I like it. Has a couple of small tears in the plastic wrap, which sucks, because it's not my intention to break the seal by opening it. That's how I am with vinyls, especially limited editions.

    #554 of 5,000

  9. Hopefully, thousands of the box sets will go unsold, which will force them to sell the contents of the set individually, as they did with the Locked N' Loaded set. That might be one way to obtain the Ritz blu-ray without having to pay for the entire set.

This box set is one of the larger disappointments I've experienced in my 35 years of following this band. To boot, I cancelled my order for the limited edition 4 LP set, because I was sick of getting emails stating that because of production delays, the shipping date kept getting pushed out. My guess is, they can't count to 5,000 (the number that was supposed to be produced), and took more orders for it than they could fulfill.

    Welcome to the BUNGLE.

I scooped up 4 at that price and gave some away as gifts.  I have serious regrets for paying what I did for this Vinyl set.

I bought three AFD Super deluxe sets for $40 each on the official merch website back in 2019. Pretty sure it was a Black Friday deal.

Sorry that you regret the UYI vinyl purchase. I had considered getting it at the discounted price, but then my CD set was delivered, and immediately saw that it was overpriced for what's in it. By comparison, Walmart is selling the Metallica Black Album box set online for $167.22, and there's way more in it than the UYI set.

I'm still waiting for my Limited Edition vinyls to ship. Got an email last week stating I should have it by 11/25 (tomorrow), but that was if I got a second email with tracking information, and to date, I haven't.

  11. I just got my Super Deluxe CD set. Not happy with Amazon, as they combined three separate orders into one oversized box, with no packing material or protection between items. Just five items floating around to ding and damage each other. The 40th anniversary super deluxe of Rush's 'Moving Pictures' album for my brother in-law got the worst of it. That's Amazon in a nutshell. They can be great on occasion, or horrendously bad.

As far as the UYI box set goes, it's heavier than I was expecting. Haven't looked at the lithos yet, and skimmed though the book. The memorabilia extras aren't impressive at all. Audio quality on the remastered studio albums sounds pretty good. The highlight of the entire set is the Ritz '91 blu-ray, no doubt.

The urge I was having to buy the LP box set has diminished greatly. I did order the limited edition 4LP set, which due to production delays, is scheduled for delivery next week.

Ok, now I go back to waiting for new music.

    That is all.

How likely, in %, do you think a new album will come out within the below timeframes?

    - 1 year
    - 2 years
    - 3 years
    - 5 years
    - 7 years
    - 10 years

    I will try guessing at:

    40% - 1 year
    56% - 2 years
    70% - 3 years
    80% - 5 years
    85% - 7 years
    90% - 10 years

Taylor Swift has set the bar pretty high on how new music should be released.

At this stage, even with the big turnouts at shows, GN'R is not in the same league as Taylor Swift. Her loyal fans have bought four different covers of the SAME ALBUM. The CD has sold especially well at Target because it has three exclusive songs, and the music she released in the early morning hours of 10/21 (I think it was dubbed as the "3AM" songs, or something to that effect), was truly innovative.

If I'm the braintrust within GN'R, I would follow a similar formula. Personally, I think it would be genius if they one-upped themselves by releasing three seperate LP's, or even EP's, on the same day. Also, get a new song on one of those Netflix shows that everyone watches. I know that the Johnny Lawrence character on Cobra Kai is a fan of 80's rock and GN'R, so a new song popping up on an upcoming season of that show would really set the gears in motion for a new generation of fans and potential big album sales.

The frustrating delays just make it pretty freaking clear *someone* in the mix just cannot for the life of them make up their mind. And I kinda doubt it’s Duff. 😆

  13. I haven't gotten my Super Deluxe CD set yet (due November 21st), but like almost everyone else here, I've been watching the show on the Tube.

It's pretty magnificent, I must say. Slash is a monster in this show.

Concerts like this one perfectly illustrate why Guns N' Roses could not succeed without Axl and Slash together. It's like Page/Plant in Led Zeppelin, Jagger/Richards in the Rolling Stones, and Daltrey/Townsend in The Who. Some bands just don't work without that 1-2 punch, and Guns was/is one of them.

I pre-ordered UYI I and II and the boxset.

Amazon says I will receive UYI I on 11/30, UYI II on 11/11. No estimate on the boxset.

    Anyone else having issues?

I got an email from Amazon stating the Super Deluxe CD Box Set would be delivered sometime between 11/18 and 11/22. That's a little disappointing, but Amazon usually updates their anticipated deliveries to an earlier date fairly often.

As far as the limited edition vinyls, I don't know who the shipper's going to be on that. Was thinking UPS, because they were the carrier for my Locked & Loaded set in 2018. In any event, even if it ships on time, I have it scheduled to be delivered to the post office because I have to keep a box for mail. Post office is closed on Friday because it's Veterans Day.

  15. Just bought November Rain 2022 on iTunes. Listening to it for the first time now. Changes seem subtle, possibly because I'm not listening to it on earbuds or headphones.

Seems like Slash's original guitar parts have been tweaked a little bit. Either that, or because of the remaster, it just has more clarity than the 1991 version.

November Rain has become my favorite song from the Illusion albums; it was epic when they played it live at the show I saw in 2016. Not entirely sure this was necessary, though.

Sounds like we get to hear some of the orchestra in November Rain, and so far, it’s more subtle than the original

I'm expecting the 2022 version to be available on iTunes prior to November 11th. Would make sense, with "November Rain" as the song title.

Thinking that with the right promotion, it could be a hit all over again

I think we all know that we will never see a “new” GNR album. I think at this point Axl doesn’t have it in him to record enough vocals to fill a record. Our only hope lies in what can be done with the material that’s in those vaults.

Sometimes, it seems like GN'R are following the business model of The Eagles.

One example of this is the reunion tours by both bands- Eagles 1994, GN'R 2016. Both tours were named after a comment made by one of the band members when asked if there would ever be a reunion (Eagles--when "Hell Freezes Over", Guns-- "Not In This Lifetime"). Both tours are near the top of the list of highest grossing of all time. Both bands promoted their tours heavily with photos of their "classic lineups", though neither had all the original members take part.

Another example is that The Eagles released only five new songs between their reunion in 1994---four were new tracks recorded for the 'Hell Freezes Over' album--and when they released their last full length studio album, 'Long Road Out Of Eden', in 2007. Since the Guns reunion in 2016, there have been two official new songs, not counting the reworked "Shadow Of Your Love" on the Appetite box set. Slash is talking about the band possibly releasing another couple of songs, and then getting to work on a full album after touring wraps in 2023.

For the Eagles, it took 13 years after the 1994 reunion to release 'Long Road Out Of Eden', so for GN'R, if they were to mimic the Eagles, we'd see a new full length album in 2029 (though none of us really want to wait that long).

Another Eagles/Guns connection: Irving Azoff, who has been a business manager/agent for the Eagles for decades, was part of GN'R management for a hot minute about fifteen years ago.

When you look at the hits that the Eagles and GN'R can fill a setlist with every night, the bands come to the realization that new music isn't a necessity to fill seats, it's about seeing the band members who were a part of those hits. It also explains why GN'R with only Axl as the sole original member was such a massive fail.
