BTW seeing how he sings fast-paced tunes like Shadow & Reckless Life pretty decently nowadays imo (angry Mickey I call it) I think Axl could do a decent job if they played Perfect Crime now. The angry Mickey sounds better than the normal Mickey.

It’s remarkable the Chili Peppers released more original, new music this year than you will find on way more than half of the GNR catalog.
The Chili Peppers have always sucked, so them releasing two albums in one year is a cash grab. They're counting on people with poor taste in music or seriously distorted hearing to buy their garbage.

I thought the Estranged video was pretty weak compared with Don't Cry, and especially, November Rain. Makes virtually no sense, and was filmed with a different camera that makes it look like a long public service announcement (my opinion).

Use Your Illusion Super Deluxe https://a.co/d/iCam0F0
I found this for under 200 for the cd version
I was waiting for Amazon to match the Walmart price, so it's a done deal for me. Amazon gift cards will cover the whole thing

Decided to pull the trigger on the 4 LP set, the one that's retailing for $124.98.
I'm a sucker for Limited Edition merch, and they're claiming only 5,000 of these individually numbered albums are going to be produced.

I didn't really care for the video. I would have much rather preferred the actual footage that corresponds with the song, not the spliced together shots of Slash with different guitars, and Axl alternating between the purple leather jacket and bare chested.
Not a heck of a lot of Izzy in the clip, either. Was Dizzy Reed shown at all?

I don't like how they're not offering the vinyls and CD's in one set. That leaves me leaning toward the Super Deluxe set with the CD's. It is not in my budget to be buying both.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I was alerted to the live version of "Welcome To The Jungle" that was played by the band on 8/01/87, where much of the official video was taken from. I'd never seen it before, had no idea it existed. Pretty cool, and Axl sounds great.

Chili's just announced a new album due in October, second album this year 🤷
Red Hot Chili Peppers might be the worst band ever to gain mainstream popularity. Walmart and Target stores probably stocked three copies of their most recent album, and they're still sitting there collecting dust.

He entered rehab in late May and stayed for more than 30 days, so it's impossible to have been out of rehab for two months.
But whatever, I hope he stays sober this time, and Aerosmith can reschedule those cancelled gigs. They're supposed to be doing Fenway Park in Boston this September. Joe Perry just played at the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, NH with his "Joe Perry Project" side gig. Probably just trying to stay busy while Steven gets himself together.

Who would have thought that upon it's release, it would become the highest selling debut album of all time in America?
I knew it was good, and I can remember the day I bought it: October 10, 1987. Had seen the "Welcome To The Jungle" video on MTV. Based on the video, I thought they were another hair metal band that would have one hit, and probably never be heard from again. After hearing the full album, I knew this band was different.
The story I always love to read about is the one where the execs at Geffen are pleased with the number of albums sold, which at the time, was in the range of 200,000. They call it a success, and make plans for the band to record another album. Mind you, Appetite has been out for around 6-7 months at this point. Someone at the label goes to upper management and insists there's a number one song on the album, and a single should be released for it. That song, of course, was "Sweet Child O' Mine", and in the United States, it did reach #1. It has been estimated that during the summer of 1988, when that song was moving up the charts, that the Appetite album was selling 500,000 copies a week!
I saw GN'R open for Aerosmith in August of 1988 in Mansfield, Massachusetts--basically Aerosmith's back yard. This was my first real concert. Appetite was #1 on the album chart. "Sweet Child O' Mine" had just cracked the top ten. Before they played the song, Axl said to the crowd, "I think you've heard this one before". GN'R had exploded so quickly, I swear there were as many people wearing Guns N' Roses t-shirts as there were wearing Aerosmith t-shirts. In essentially what was Aerosmith's home turf. Honest truth is, Guns wasn't very good that night, but they did play "Patience", which hadn't been released yet. And it was the only time I got to see the original five members on stage together in a live setting.
That album carried me through my last year and a half of high school. Great memories of that time, when most of my teen years before that were aimless and miserable.
From that first listening on October 10, 1987 to now, Appetite For Destruction remains my favorite album ever, and it will be for the remainder of my days.

I liked the ad. If anything, it could get "Sweet Child O' Mine'" a few more downloads on iTunes, which in turn, draws more attention to the band.
I heard Tom Morello say some very nice things about Slash during his most recent SiriusXM show, and he played a song that he and Slash recorded during the lockdowns, called "Interstate 80". It wasn't bad.
Also, Happy 57th Birthday to Slash. He looks happier and healthier than when he was 27.

The stage is setup on the wide side of the stadium, so i guess the crowds are getting smaller and smaller.Probably maximum 40k ppl tonight.Axl's weak voice and the lack of new music are having an affect on the ticket sales.Soon, GN'R will only be playing in max 12k seats arenas.
Tough economy worldwide, which can be attributed to a lot of things. Never mind that the band has always commanded premium ticket prices since the reunion.
They will always be a big draw, but crowd sizes will fluctuate due to economic factors.

I think a lot of music companies are still dealing with "supply chain issues". As an example, I ordered the Beatles 'Get Back' documentary on blu-ray all the way back in February. It was supposed to be released in April, but then I got an email stating that due to the problems in the supply chain (sounding like they were physically unable to manufacture the discs at that time), the release would be moved to July. No update yet, so I am assuming it will be sent to me sometime this month, but then again, there could be another delay.
It seems that the merchandise, especially the vinyl, for the "Hard Skool" release, was not available until just a month or two ago, despite being announced last fall. Perhaps there are supply chain issues in being able to properly put together the Illusion box set.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Carrie Underwood ended up recording with the band on a new song, given how big a fan she is. Or perhaps Axl duetting with her on one of her songs, though I think she just released a new album. Or maybe recording something for charity that gives GN’R an opportunity to cross over into the country genre?
She’s likable (and has great legs). She and Axl have a good thing going.

Is this the same exact shirt sold at the shows with the GN’R branding in the tag? The shirts of the last couple of years are the best quality shirts they have made in the last 20 years. I went ahead and bought it off of the gn’r tour truck website, hopefully it’s legit. I’ve never bought anything off of the gn’r website (for good reason). Thanks
I’m not really digging that shirt, especially at $50

As far as this particular merch line goes, it is what it is. It's ugly as hell to me, but I'm sure it'll appeal to someone.
Vegas odds are favorable that this shit will be outfitting poor people in third world countries

Anyone seen the Funko/Walmart exclusive 'Appetite For Destruction' package?
I got one today. It's heavy! $39.88 from Walmart is a good deal. Saw one for Queen's 'Greatest Hits' also.

What a weird post. There's grown adults who listen to Billie Eilish, Eminem and all sorts of shit, lol. RHCP are in their 50s-60s and aren't exactly making music for 'the kids' anymore.
I like their new album, but I've always liked their mellow stuff - Scar Tissue, Soul To Squeeze, Wet Sand, etc. and this album is pretty mellow.
Red Hot Chili Peppers are absolutely one of the WORST bands ever to make it big. Right up there with Nickelback.
Meanwhile, people rip Greta Van Fleet for being a Led Zeppelin clone, but those kids can actually play and write good songs.

We'll probably get some news on the new record tomorrow, April 1st.
Because April 1st is not just an ordinary day.
No foolin'.

Nacho fries are back at Taco Bell, so that’s going to take up a lot of Axl’s time

Better chance of Def Leppard playing it, at least they have a confirmed new album coming out.
But in reality, it will be another shitty rap show.
The "New Album" Thread . The maybe, possibly, at some point, soon, whenever, wtf Axl thread🤞

I'll be 52 in two weeks.
I recall being the first person I knew of in high school (bought it early in my junior year) to own Appetite. It was funny hearing people say that Guns was just another hair band that no one would give a crap about. Flash forward to September 1988---Appetite is #1 on the album chart, Sweet Child O' Mine is the #1 single for two weeks, and people are coming up to me and saying how good the album is.
No, I didn't discover the band, but a lot of people gave me credit for turning them on to the band and album.
In 1991, if you weren't born or were too young to remember, there was never more hype--before or since--than for the Use Your Illusion records. That was a fun time to be a Guns fan, because you knew they were the biggest band in the world at the time.
For me, being part of the Guns explosion in 1988 is akin to being a 16 or 17 year old when Beatlemania hit in 1964. You just knew you were witnessing music history.
