Tommy Stinson on Chinese, GNR and Axl
UYI4 replied to Dean's topic in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
You know, I never understand why these people don’t ask more in depth questions. Unless they do and are reviewed and passed on pre-interview. how many songs do you know were actually finished with vocals on the lists for CD? what really took so long? (People seem to skirt this one. I’d like to hear someone say it truthfully) too many vague questions that spark vague answers. Drives me crazy -
Songs can release at any given point. My band had done it at random before. An artist as large as these guys probably have a lot of leverage to do as they please as far as release days. There was a well known rapper that recently released an album on a Tuesday not too long ago like they used to be 15-20 years ago.

I’m presuming that these guys don’t care about solo album successes. Slash really didn’t tour his album too much. Duffs album he is really trying to promote but that’s just due to it being so close to release. I noticed the song “hope” featuring Slash. Those of us who know probably assume this is the same song “hope” from beautiful disease that never saw official release. I bet it’s same song. I still wish Duff would buy rights and release that album properly. I really liked that one. That’s the best version of Seattle head. Also I’m a huge Mike Bordin fan due to guns doing what they did in 90’s, Faith No More became my number one band when I was 13 in 95 and KFAD came out. Would still be cool to have Beautiful disease hard copy some day. Probably won’t happen if he’s using songs from it elsewhere now. I know Seattlehead was originally a Neurotic song.

Well they released absurd in August and hardskool in September so there’s a possibility they’ll do the same shit. They don’t need to market anything. Nobody’s broke. Even if the US tour bombs nobody is broke. I listened to China exchange last night Axl Grease mentioned wanting to release more music with Guns N’ Roses. He didn’t know if slash would play on a bunch of things that they had or not. He mentioned more than once in that interview how he really liked the lineup right before slash and duff rejoined. thinking more about this, I wonder if it is at all possible for others who are gone to rejoin the band. Axl seems to take the approach of “here’s what’s recorded, you can be on it or not, either way I intend to release it.” The question is when. All of this could be answered if these fools would do press and give straight answers and if someone had the balls to ask real questions, and when they skirt the answers say “why?” “Why always the hold up?” “What prevents things?” Is it legal? Is it perfectionism? Is it something contractual? the entire thing has become stupid. It’s almost been 7+ years since the “reunion.” 2026 will be 10 and will also be 18 years since the release of CD. By then it will be 5 years since release of absurd and hs.

My guess is yes. There’s some sort of buttsniffing going on in forums and on social media. This is proven by interviews being removed amongst other things. also, why I think that they got the leaked CDs back and slash and Duff heard them and then they decided to redo some of those songs because their recording was after the leaks happened. There’s no irony. Also if the general is released I 100% believe they pay attention. Otherwise why not one of the other 20+ songs on the discs. I question axl vocals being finished on much more, because apparently he kept getting pissed about recording vocals when people would ask him years ago. I think band members meant “instrumentally songs are done. We are just waiting on axl.” But they weren’t allowed to say that. Wasn’t it axl who went years without singing? Listen to vocal coaches. They critique him saying poor technique and lack of singing. That alone says a lot. Shouldn’t be so hard for what was the biggest band in the world to release an album. A 5 song EP. Video. Etc… bottom line someone doesn’t seem to have the balls too IMO. Or there are other plans. Hell, I just read an interview in Rolling Stone with Melissa where Caram asked her what she was doing for the next few years back in 2016 because they needed a keyboard player. This goes to show they planned on doing a big tour for a while. Not just a few like we are led to believe. Pittman was right. Nostalgia act. It’s become what he described as oldies band playing 30 year old songs over and over. it probably does and did suck to some extent being an integral part of relaunching the biggest band of all time back in the 90’s writing all of that music and then being stuck playing someone else’s shit for 20 years. they could have played Jungle, paradise, sweet child, November rain, live and let die, estranged, civil war, YCBM, patience and then done the rest new songs with new band. But they didn’t. They started to post CD release, but it took it being forced released. I think Axl missed the old band once things got going. At the end of the day I’m not one way or the other but the Chinese years and up to 2016 should have been a solo record. Not a GNR album. This is telling by re-recording appetite. That’s an element of control and ego that’s just unhealthy and ridiculous. I think if we don’t hear at least 2 new songs by years end (preferably more) then I’ll stop paying attention to this band after this many years. It’s a big joke. If I don’t pay attention it won’t matter. But more and more people won’t care. They’re becoming less popular at this point. Most young people want nothing to do with a 40 year old band and eventually it’ll just be a historic thing like the Beatles or Elvis and be looked at as a band that was ruined by bullshit. Similar to beach boys.

Been so long, but is that song list supposed Axl’s blackberry screenshot? Almost seems like it would say Hardschool instead of J.Chan. As on the locker inserts it read as Hardschool. Some dude on YouTube commented on that live rehearsal of Perhaps and said “perhaps I was wrong” lovely song written by Paul Tobias in November of 1998. Some lyrics by Rose.” HTF would that dude know that. Unless he’s speculating. Perhaps always reminds me of an Axl’s Elton John moment

So that’s a new FfuD record and Slice record coming. Wonder how Axl Grease feels about that? Wonder if he even cares at this point. I assume not being he didn’t release any of his own music. I never understood why all of this music we heard axl writes on his own on piano has never gotten released. He could easily hire session players to finish an album and bam. Shit I’d take a W.A. Rose Album now if he did that with what’s left of the Chinese songs.
