I agree with this. I think he let go, but I also think he always carried that burden. Slash/Duff have always said he was honest to a fault. I think he always carried the burden of the original band and it haunting him to a sense because of his statement to Kurt Loder walking off stage in 2002. “How do you rebuild something that got so big and replace every single person, on the crew, every single thing. And… how do you make a whole bunch of guys that are something else into something that already was. I don’t think it’s exactly been done like this and not with the intensity of these players wanting to play the material.”

Also Slash gets to see Myles tonight. Alter Bridge goes on right before Guns. Maybe they’ll write a record tnite and get that out before the next guns record lol.

I’m sure Axl tracked to more than we know. I don’t the The General is same as SOG. I also don’t get hyped on the setlist narratives. It said “General” which could mean a lot of things. Could mean “General intro” which they use now. Could mean the old “The General” intro which is part of the song (or so we’ve been told.) I think From 94 (post sympathy) 97-98 Axl was scarce. I think maybe in 98 is when it picked up. It’s when we started first hearing rumblings. Like in the SPIN I bought that year. The one that talked about Shaq rapping and other new members being in band. I don’t think he did much with the band up until 98-99-02. Then maybe a few spot sessions 02-08. Then maybe some 2012-2014. Those dates on the locker songs likely are writing dates and the numbers I would guess are mix numbers (12) etc… seeing those dates on their kind of shows 99 was a busy time. Not to say those songs couldn’t be older. I 100% still believe some of those songs are likely Slash/duff era songs that they started and there is probably more that we will never know or see or that’s been long forgotten on hard drives, old computers and some may not have been even archived. Tape also degrades if they were using that so who knows. I just hope we get 4 new songs this summer/fall. Let’s hope for all new/old songs at minimum. I’m tired of live shit.

I wouldn’t be opposed to them re-releasing Chinese as a double or triple album but have Slash and Duff re-record on it. Anything to get something substantial out. Still blows me away they haven’t done more with live proshot video that they have tons of over the years. Hopefully Duff’s new album is a bit more of a rock album. Some people don’t like his albums. I liked believe in me, I really liked beautiful disease, about half of loaded I enjoyed. Tenderness wasnt bad but I’d like some more energy. As a nostalgic person sometimes I think back and if you took some of the best parts of 5 o’clock, believe in me, and pawnshop guitars, we could’ve had an amazing GNR album back around 95/96. I really wished they’d recorded originals with Gilby. I think he was a great fit. I know people suck Izzy off big time and he’s great, but IMO not what people make him out to be. Juju hounds had a great record, but to me it was almost like a copycat Tom Petty record. I wouldn’t be opposed to the OG lineup doing an album. I’d prefer Matt as drummer though. Not to take away from Frank, I just preferred Matthew. P.S. also surprised songs that dudes put up on YouTube have been up for 2 months

For some reason I doubt TG and SOG are the same song based on the phone recording years ago. But maybe. I often wonder truly where people heard or got songs and leaked them way back in the day. I know the piazza story, the anti quiet stuff. Wonder where others heard or had stuff like hard school/Jackie Chan that was on YouTube for years. I thought I heard a strip club story of someone ripping a cd axl had. Just crazy how this stuff spread out so much over 20+ years. Also blows me away I just turned 41 5 days ago and have still waited since Sympathy came out for new music. We got Chinese. I’d heard snippets prior around 2006 for the first time of what was to be new songs. I remember being so blown away by better. I just hope as creative people collectively they aren’t truly done and release more and don’t ride the nostalgia wave. It would also be nice to hear the fruits of waiting so long for unkept statements/promises and or indecisiveness. But life goes on…. If Paul McCartney can release an Ai song with lemons vocals as last Beatles song then these guys can put out a record. In the next 20-30 years they won’t be here most likely nor will some of us.

I’m going to speculate….with announcement of Duff’s new album, and I’ll bet a Slash album comes after or at least a tour as he stated, we won’t see a proper Guns record for the next year to year and a half at least. From a marketing standpoint the way the music business does things I doubt they’d put out an album if there are conflicting releases from members. So hopefully we at least we can get 4 tracks by time this tour is over.

Exactly what I am thinking. I think the instrumental songs may have vocals now or at least some of them, and I’ll bet a chunk of it got scrapped or deemed not worthy like any other artist would do.

In regard to Axl’s voice. A few things. As a musician and singer myself your voice is never the same every night. The caliber and amount of touring bands did in late 80’s and 90’s damaged a lot of singers voices. Add in smoking, alcohol, soda, and other things that damage your vocal pallet. The voice is a muscle that wears over time. Bon Jovi has discussed this. If he wants to sing however he can, then cool IMO. He’s worth 200$ million he can do what he wishes. There’s reasons there is a saying of “rock n roll is a young man’s game.” Corey Taylor even said “you think I’ll be able to scream the song people=shit at 70? It’s just not possible.” In regard to new song(s) I think Hyde park would make sense as a single release. Given the show day/time and volume that will be there but I could be 1000% wrong. I assume they’ll follow same model and we will see 2 songs. Probably no more than that this year. Annoying but eh. I think Fortus sitar pedal would be relevant for Atlas. I’ll have to match his settings on my same ravish sitar pedal and see what it does. I really hope they release Atlas, Perhaps, The General, and finalized state of grace. The fact they’ve released locker leak songs makes me really question if there is even many more completed songs. If there were your think they’d release something nobody’s heard. Anyone else a bit surprised by Atlas? First time I heard that I was like (it’s cool, but not as epic as I thought it would be.) I am wondering if we all may feel same about the general when we hear it. What if it’s 1:30 seconds of that intro and then just 45 seconds of singing? I always thought Atlas would be more estranged-ish based on discussion. I’d really like to hear a confident and finalized version of state of grace. That curly shuffle song would be cool to hear. I still think that song could be a mid 90’a pre slash exit song. I think a few songs on the lockers could be. Obviously Oklahoma as well.

This is Guns N Roses. Slash 100% knows what he worked on. I think the locker stuff was brought about and when they got discs it was like oh yeah these….do you guys like these? And maybe here’s a few others I’ve got. He knows what he’s done. He’s just not saying to be vague because someone needs to say “okay yeah release this.” I 100% believe that’s the case. Unless they’ve done far more than we know which could be possible. They were pretty quiet pre-tour. Duff had the iggy stuff but that was quick. Acoustic songs were in the van for him. Slice did some of his own promotional stuff and probably guest spots. I hope we at least hear the general soul monster perhaps (done) state of grace (done) seven ides of march Oklahoma zodiac I’d welcome any other Chinese or full album stuff. But at minimum those then I’d prefer to hear a new cohesive album

You know what is a bit interesting is if Perhaps is on the setlist, it makes me ask why. It’s almost like maybe the locker discs came back and were listened to and it was thought as “oh yeah that’s a cool song we can use.” Almost makes you think that what had vocals on lockers was it other than general etc. I say that because first we get absurd which we all knew had lyrics due to it had leaked a few years before. Then, hard skool which had been on a snippet on YouTube for years. Now Perhaps a lockers song yet none of the others. Just seems a bit odd. I would expect Atlas would be next or state of grace or both and that’s probably it. It would be nice to be surprised with something random that we didn’t know existed. (Yes I know we wouldn’t even know about those if not for locker shit)

I come here because I’d like new music. Other like-minded people do too. Some don’t care. That’s fine. This was the first band that spoke to me as a 9 year old kid in 1991 and made me pick up a guitar and start writing my own music. I had heard AFD prior as a little kid from my older siblings and it was cool but didn’t speak to me the same because I was 5/6 years old when AFD/Lies were released. I was excited for every release they had even sympathy. I defended the band. Bought any magazine that had a glimmer of info on new music prospect throughout the mid 90’s to early 2000’s. Between 95-97 Faith No More took over as my favorite band of all time than a band called Virgos Merlot and NiN. I paid attention to Guns and still do. Part of that little kid/tween in me is still hopeful for more new music. I had heard the leaks of stuff in early 2000’s and was stoked to hear Axl on CD in 2008. I come back for those reasons. The issues I have is the “it’s funny that they don’t know what we are doing,” and talking about new music and giving timeframes and then nothing happens. That’s my indifference. I was 9 in ‘91. I’ll be 41 this June 9th. So to me it’s just what’s left of me as a music fan. Music speaks to me a bit different. I put it nearly important as my family. I have an adopted child, a career, I play baseball, and goddamn it as much as this band pisses me off at times, I still love them and want new music. Even if it is new old stock. I’m stoked even today Duff released new music. Slash does etc. So why not the whole package? I think if it were announced no new music ever, or we are done or just going to tour, we’d all have different perspectives. It’s the talk of what’s been done and what’s been discussed in few interviews that keep people regurgitating the same narratives. Once the band stops we may hope but then at least we’d know.

Maybe some day with AI going nuts, we’ll be able to put axls voice on instrumental locker songs and hear what it was supposed to sound like LOL. I laugh but it will probably be possible.
