What time was the soundcheck? Thinking of trying to get to Hyde Park early
-
And now the fireworks lip sync too! But seriously, people like to shit on Tommy and Eric in that band for not being originals, but they have my respect for playing and singing their parts every night. Paul Stanley could – and it wouldn't matter if it was good or bad, most aren't great at that age – but doesn't. Like you say, shameful

This is Elton John's moment to shine, he's not going to give last night's headliner even more spotlight is he? Let's be realistic. These have all been carefully selected and rehearsed way ahead of time (he's said in multiple interviews how he's had rehearsal space booked specifically for the guests), they're not sporadic – unlike Dave Grohl, who was clearly a last-minute addition, evidenced by the fact he was playing one of Fortus' guitars. Plus, it's not like they released a big hit together, is it? I mean, he did a song with Dua Lipa, and even she's not playing with him. She was even at one of his recent shows and didn't play with him. I'm not trying to be a downer, just being realistic. I can't think of a single reason why he'd obviously appear

An explanation for the sound issues: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/tv/bbc-glastonbury-viewers-issue-complaint-27196793?fbclid=IwAR30seXMV6cAw516uDFI4-9r7xi7Mx83r_H6GsZ73jUp6iF3huO02TMd5Z0 "It comes after similar complaints were made about Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose during the band's headline set on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night (June 24). But last night, a spokesperson for Guns N' Roses told the Manchester Evening News that they looked into the matter. "They said it appears the broadcast had issues being played on certain TVs like UHDs and added that this was an unfortunate issue that the mix played through these TVs sounding so poorly and was not the band’s fault." So it appears to be an issue on certain TVs, not the broadcast itself. That'll explain why it was okay on iPlayer and 6Music. As pointed out above, there's no sound to fix, per se, but speaking of BBC Music, the show's on iPlayer and BBC Sounds in both video and audio forms. They'd probably get a copyright strike from the overzealous 'fans' if they uploaded to YouTube anyway, so not bothering saves them the hassle. It wouldn't be the first time a festival didn't uplad pro-shots of GN'R
-
I found it odd that at the end of the broadcast, Lauren Laverne (who's hosted music programmes for the BBC for years, so would perhaps be considered an expert) said she'd never heard of Estranged, and that someone on the crew – allegedly a big GN'R fan – would be amazed if they played it... even though it's a setlist fixture. They said it was down to "the magic of Glastonbury". No, it's a song they've played every night for years. And even if they didn't know (the mega-fan make-up artist should know), it doesn't take long to look it up

I wish they'd put this back in the set!

Oh I agree. But it's not about whether they matter. People seem to think they'll get slated in the UK press, I don't think they will. But whether reviews actually matter at all is an entirely different discussion
-
Simple, Glastonbury isn't in Belgium or Denmark. The mainstream press in the UK largely praised Axl and the band at last year's shows in London even though the shows themselves were a disaster. The only negativity surrounded the issues at the venue. The band was praised. https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/music/1634740/guns-n-roses-Tottenham-stadium-review "Axl’s virtuoso vocals as impressive today as ever." You won't find anyone here say that... And 2018's Download set that wasn't great for Axl: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/concerts/gun-n-roses-download-festival-review-set-dispensed-feral-purpose/ "...showing the band are back to their best" Kiss has been getting positive reviews too even though their latest UK shows aren't great. The UK press loves a legacy act, and I guarantee that the UK press will find a way praise the band while the forum will find something to moan about, even if it's Slash holding a note for 0.001s longer than he did on the record 😂

The band's biggest critics are the people of this forum. The response to Glastonbury will no doubt be fine
