  1. Myles does most all the rhythm stuff, but Slash has a touring guitarist so he can focus solely on singing for the most part.

Myles is apparently a hell of a guitarist, but he doesn't really get the chance to let loose and show his stuff. He's more than capable of doing the rhythm stuff in the studio.

  2. A lot of people seem to say "at this point, no", but to me it seems like at this point more than ever.

Rebuilding GnR turned into a revolving door band that can't release anything and is covered in drama. Why not drop all that and start over?

From what we've seen, there's no more fire in Axl's belly. When he was younger, and angrier up until about 2006 even -- I would've said sure. But now that he's 50, and seems content playing Jukebox Tours, and Vegas Residencies, does anyone think the dude is still ambitious?

    He's not ambitious at all.

The amazing thing about the entire experience with him is I thought he would be the last one of the group to be content to be playing an Appetite tribute every night instead of pushing the envelope and creating new music.

Instead he has been the laziest one of all of them and is just fine operating as a defacto tribute band by just playing the hits every night.

I thought he was better than that, but clearly he isn't.

  3. Some of you seem to think Bumblefoot would go homeless without GNR. He would get along just fine, seriously.

    This.

And like I said earlier, Ron does business with a lot of people outside of GN'R. Who knows if his tweet had anything to do with GN'R at all.

I always figured (and he intimated as much) that he was doing this as a means of saving money for the future, and that when he got to whatever point that was financially that was his goal he was gone.

Whether he is there or not I don't know but I suspect after 7 years of this romper room stuff that he is closer to the door than ever.

  4. DJ is an ass in my book for posting that comment in regards to Ron and GN'R. Look how much DJ has used the bands name to further himself, he doesn't need to tell Ron what he did.

I don't blame Ron one bit for responding, and I'm fully behind Ron in this situation as a whole. Every point Ron has raised in relation to the Guns situation is every GN'Rs fans subconscious truth, we all know he speaks the truth.

The difference between Ron and DJ is that Ron is an individual, where DJ is a leech... pure and simple.

    Great post.

DJ is a a bitch and a fraud, and it is probably why he fits in so well with this version of GNR.

Ron is authentic and real, probably why he has always seemed like a fish out of water considering what the GNR brand is at this point.

  5. To be honest I am kind of excited there is some new blood (relative to this project at least) in the room for this album.

I liked the work he did with Eric Valentine, but a new voice relative to Slash's world could never hurt.

The AB board is saying that Elvis will push Slash, which is only a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I am sure this was Myles suggestion. I wonder if he will have a bigger footprint on this album since they are bringing in a guy he is clearly comfortable working with.

  6. I wouldn't be upset if they switched up the formula a bit and didn't do the straight make it sound like they are playing it live thing like AL. I like that they can replicate it perfectly every night, but sometimes some studio trickery is OK.

I don't want a cut/paste album that sounds like it came out of a computer, but I wouldn't mind Slash playing around with some different sounds/effects.

  7. Just browsing the AB forum and I get the impression that band plans on touring Fortress pretty hard next year and pretty deep into the year. They landed a pretty prime spot at the Download festival, and it sounds like they want to make the most of it.

Slash's album might have to wait a while into 2015 as they appear to be ready to tour far more extensively than they did with ABIII.

  8. If you want paint by numbers wildly generic EMO music that makes you want to cut yourself you want a DJ album.

If you want something that has some creativity and originality you want the Bucket/Finck material.

Just listen to the difference in the DJ version of Better vs. the original. It was neutered and lacking balls. We could expect more of the same for anything he is involved in.

  9. There would be significantly less hostility towards Axl/Team Brazil and the band if they would all admit they have no intention of releasing new music, and are content to be a nostalgia act that tours the hits and nothing more.

Regardless of what they say publicly, they know with 100% certainty right now how realistic a new album is, and in what time frame it would take to happen if they were motivated.

They know if they publicly admit to being a touring nostalgia act it would be a big blow to the band and fan base, however it would bring some closure to everyone involved.

The problem is they portray themselves as a real band with a real future, and yet their actions behind the scenes don't match up with a band that is trying to be anything other than a touring apparatus with no designs on making new music.

If they want the hostility to stop, they need to stop lying to us and just tell us that there is no future for GNR beyond touring.

Otherwise stop touring and finish enough songs to release an album.

Those are the only 2 solutions that will calm things down, and they seem to be interested in neither.

Instead they will continue to portray themselves as martyrs at the mercy of the angry mob that is the GNR forum, refusing to realize or acknowledge that they alone are entirely responsible for the situation being what it is.

  10. Oh I'm very aware of the Axl/Madison issue but you're not suggesting that to be the reason for personal attacks and insults right?

    No one is saying that.

However, it sets the tone for how the band thinks one should communicate grievances they may have with the other side.

In Axl's world, if your pissed off about something/someone throw intelligent discussion out the window and just start personally attacking.

Is it any surprise that the fan base responds in kind when they have issues with the band/management.

  11. Can't think of a single decent performance on em ever cept Nirvana doing Lithium and Oasis doing Live Forever and thats only cuz Liam was being a cunt.

Jon Bon Jovi and Richie doing the Livin on a Prayer/Wanted Dead or Alive medley with just their guitars spawned the entire Unplugged series, so there have been times where a performance stood out.

GNR's WTTJ in 88 also kicked some major ass as it was about as ferocious and alive as the band had ever sounded.

  12. Is everyone else just waiting with baited breath for the big 'N Sync reunion tonight?

I miss the days when the VMA's were actually good. I even miss the yearly musings about whether GNR would show up or not.

MTV should just retire the vma's already as they don't play music anymore.
