I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long as they stay respectful, etc. This is a discussion board, and if someone wants to say the setlist is short, they are free to do it, as long as they aren't here just to piss everybody off. I personally LOVED the setlist, exactly as it was. I didn't think the setlist was short at all and it's not that I (or anyone) was counting the songs being played or anything. At the end I didn't think about the songs we didn't get, but about how awesome the show had been. Here's my little humble review:

Well, so there I was standing so close to the stage, that I felt like the pyros would kill me or something. The time waiting seemed an eternity, and time passed slowly, but finally Baz came on stage. That guy is fuckin' crazy!! I had seen him on videos, but live he looks REALLY energetic. I don't know how he can pull off that show almost everynight, I wouldn't last a single one. He talked in Spanish several times, but I could understand him in English better. His phrase that appealed the most to the crowd was "Santiago es la raja" (something like Santiago is the shit (the good shit, not the bad shit)). He really surprised me, I didn't expect THAT much from him, and when his show was over, I was already soaking wet. I realized that would be a crazy night.

Then the long wait began. For some minutes everything was OK, but some time later, The crowd began booing between the songs on tape. I saw a bottle hit the stage in some minute and got really nervous. I had some "hater fans" (only in GN'R) behind me, shouting things like "come out you fuckin' fat asshole", and suddenly, the lights came down, and everyone got crazy again. When the intro to Chinese Democracy began, and the red lightscame, I could see everyone's silhouette, incluiding Axl. The only time I had seen a member before was when Bumblefoot appeared on stage to throw picks (I don't really feel like stalking bands in the airport or hotel). Then with the opening riff the place exploded and then, oh those fuckin' pyros. The band sounding tight as ever, and Axl looked in top shape dancing while singing. Then the opening notes from Jungle. I didn't actually like this song at all before last night, but the energy these guys put on it made me completely change my mind. Same with It's So Easy, and Mr. Brownstone. (Mostly) Everybody in the arena sang these 3 songs. It was an unforgettable moment.

By the time Sorry started, I felt like we were only a group of people singing it in the whole arena. Everybody seemed to like it when it finished, though. For me, it was definetely a highlight from the show. I thought I knew it all and that 4tus solo would come now, but I was surprised by the Better intro. The crowd seemed to recognise the song when it started, but I didn't hear many singing. During this song there were parts where I could barely hear Axl, as his mic volume went up and down. Then came 4tus solo. That guy really rocks, he is very underated. Then Live and Let Die, the pyro showing off moment. The instrumental part is really crazy when everybody is jumping like motherfuckers.

When If the World started, I could hear some dislike for this song somewhere far away. But this one, having always being my second least favourite from Chinese Democracy, blew me away. The high notes Axl sang were amazing, although the press said otherwise (I don't know if they were there really). And then came the first REAL surprise from the night, Rocket Queen. Frank's intro made it a really exciting moment. I didn't expect this song to be played. As Dizzy's spotlight started, some people booing could be heard, but they were shut up by the whole crowd cheering after that. The crowd's reaction to Street of Dreams was very good. It wasn't a good vocal point for Axl, but it was an emotional moment for me. Everybody laughed when he got up on the piano.

A small jam came after, and all of a sudden, it turned into You Could Be Mine. It was the best intro I ever heard to that song. Everybody started jumping again. Then came DJ Ashba solo, followed by Sweet Child o' Mine, which was the most sung along song in the whole night. After the song ended, Axl asked for an interpreter, and he/ she didn't appear. They started Knockin' On Heaven's Door. Tommy made signs to tell us to move back, I think that's whaat Axl wanted to say. During the whole song he looked pissed, and changed some words, but I couldn't understand what he said. During the instrumental part, he just sat there and waited for the crowd interaction. I was really nervous, and thought it could end there. It was the most tense moment of the night.

They started jamming, and then Another Brick In the Wall. It took a while for the people to notice what song it was, but once they knew it, everybody sang. Then Axl started his solo, and then November Rain. I fuckin' love the song, and it's really good to hear the whole intro to the song. As the first notes started I got chills. The second half was a definite highlight from the show, with the pyros, and the guys playing in front of them, it was amazing, and as Axl started playing with his foot, you could know his mood was back.

Then Bumblefoot started his solo, and everybody laughed when they noticed it was the Pink Panther theme. I really enjoyed this one, much more than I thought. Then one of my all time favourites started, Nightrain. I think that during this one there was a lack of energy from the crowd, I don't know why the fuck, I mean, it's a classic. I started thinking that if the concert ended just right here it would be already brilliant. I jumped till my feet couldn't resist. Fortunately I had some time to rest my feet before they started the encore.

Madagascar came on after a while, and I couldn't hear Axl very well, and in the last part I could hear the backing tracks more than Axl's voice. The second surprise from the show shocked me. The Shackler's intro blew the place away. It was so fuckin' loud. I didn't expect to hear this song, and when is started, I jumped like nobody else. Then came Patience, a song everybody knew again, and to calm everybody down a bit. I've never been a fan of this song, but I think they play it really good. The outro is really energetic.

When I thought I couldn't be more tired, Paradise City started, and I started jumping again. The energy that this song brings is incredible. Everybody knows the show will end, and everybody uses all the remaining energy in this one. The chorus is amazing to sing and see all the fists in the air. In the last part, everybody went crazy, then the confetti, the solos, the lights, everything. When it finished I stood there thinking it couldn't have been better. I loved the show and was completely satisfied, I didn't leave wanting more, it was perfect. Obviously I got up this morning wanting to see them everynight until I die, and I know I shouldn't trust anything Axl says, but I really hope he meant it when he said "we hope to see you again".

Is it possible that when the next show is discussed we can refrain from the following trends:

* Certain people acting as though you work for the band and your job is to clean up the forums or add a positive spin on everything regarding the tour.

* Accusing everyone of dissing the band when some of us just want to DISCUSS the setlists and shows or upcoming shows.

* lol slash remarks or anything that just takes up space/pages instead of adding to the conversation.

If you do not want to discuss the show stay out of the discussion. It is that simple and it needs to be said.

Just for the record: xGNRxSTARx did not just "discuss" the setlist. His choice of words was such that in their meaning they were insulting to people arguing with him, even if the single words were not insulting. He was not discussing, although maybe he thought he was. He was drawing attention, keeping people busy answering his annoying statements and accusations.

Best example, imo: He claimed that people having been to the concerts and defending the setlist as alright had reduced tickets via this forum and thus could not feel that they got too little for their money. When proved wrong, he defended his accusation by stating that it was reasonable to assume it anyway. Which means, his insulting claim was totally based on assumptions.

To me he came across like he was being purposefully irritating and hurting other people's feelings in order to make himself feel superior and enjoy it.

Having said that, he is the first user on my ignore-list now. :shades:

Glad you had a great time, Mike Honcho. And thanks a lot for keeping us updated all the wile. Everybody was depending on your twitter. If you had stopped updating ... I would have had another fit of fearing the worst. So, one more thanks for saving me. :xmasssanta:

Yeah.....not sure why GnRStar is always hijacking threads. You are 100% correct that he tries to annoy people and draws attention to himself. There are about 5 or 10 users that do the exact same thing. They put a negative spin on everything. You know how cable news channels have people in charge of spinning news stories to the left or the right? That's what these people remind me of......spinning everything negatively and pissing people off just for the hell of it, without using logical explanations. They are just attention whores. The best way to shut them up is to ignore them.

Exactly. The main thing that I was trying to get across is that just because we are talking about the setlist or expectations of it, or even how the show turned out - it doesn't mean we are dissing the band or don't LIKE the shows. It is a discussion & news board and some of us are beaten verbally for 'discussing'. We all love GNR or we wouldn't be here.

If I criticize a so called GNR-educator for trying to tell people how GNR was back in the day when they were barely born..

How old were you when Appetite For Destruction came out?

He keeps avoiding that one...

First you say "exactly", and reading it I think you mean to agree with hedgehog444 who stated that xGNRxStarx did not just discuss but offend people with the way he argues. And then you continue to say the opposite again.

Nobody got "beaten verbally for 'discussing'". No problem if somebody says "I think the setlist was too short, those fans deserve more." or "I personnally wouldn't pay that much money." I don't think anybody on this board would have a problem with it. But stating such a personal opinion as a general fact by saying

For the prices they are paying and the fact that there were what,50,000+ at a show, that is a short set. You can spin it all,you want, compare it to VR, make all the (off topic) LOL SLASH! comments but the set is short. Nobody is saying that those people aren't having a great time. However the amount of songs is lacking (not counting the solos/jams)

does inevitably annoy people because it implies their dissenting opinion as irrelevant. Because he's got "facts" and their criteria are just "spinning", you know?

And if he starts defending himself by arguing with merely assumed figures and dishonoring accusations like

Listen if people think $200 American or whatever those tickets were, for an 17-18 songs show, is a fair price then more power to them. … A bunch of the people jumping in to defend the set list length btw, got comp (free tix) seats due to their "forum/gnr "connections" It's a lot easier to say how awesome it was when you didn't pay.

then all this does not qualify as "discussing" things but as annoying people. Feelings are the measure here, not intentions. And many felt offended, including me.

deep in thought

I knew Axl Rose was human after all and his stage performance was just that....a performance

That metal box we see Axl moving around himself at the airports and carrying into his hotel and shit is his microphones....thats fucked up, why does he carry that shit around?

Listen if people think $200 American or whatever those tickets were, for an 17-18 songs show, is a fair price then more power to them. I'm not going to bring in Pearl Jam or other bands I see (who are as old as GNR yet regularly play) 3 hour plus shows.because that is as irrelevant as when someone posted VR's song list.

Well, according to the Chile concert guide tickets in Santiago were between 45.000 CLP (85 USD) and 23.000 CLP (43 USD). Where does you figure come from?

A bunch of the people jumping in to defend the set list length btw, got comp (free tix) seats due to their "forum/gnr "connections" It's a lot easier to say how awesome it was when you didn't pay.

That's an empty allegation. Who of those defending the show length in this forum had free tickets to the show? And how do you know?

I don't know what shows were the most expensive.I stand corrected, I should have said they PROBABLY got free tickets to the shows . I think it's reasonable to assume that some people have built up a (online) relationship with GNR/Associates etc. over the years and some are given comps.

I payed 500 reais (+/- 250 dollars) to the PREMIUM tickets! Tickets here are very, very expensive, and even with that price, they still sell out fucking huge venues!

GREAT! I hope you had the time of your life and it sounds like you did. I personally, wouldn't pay those prices for that amount of songs.

Hey! This wasn't the concert I went. I went to the São Paulo one, last week, which had a pretty long setlist, and even if it had a setlist small, I wouldn't care. People who went to the concerts don't give a fuck about this, but some internet assholes like you are always bitching around.

Here we have another guy who can't have a discussion without breaking forum rules and insulting people. Asshole? Nice,Broham

Again, empty and unfounded allegations. You're lying. You just can't admit that GN'R kicks ass.

So, how old were you when AFD came out? 8 years old right? You were 8 years old when AFD came out, so stop spreading that "you were not there blah blah" thing.

I was there too. If you think a setlist with 22 songs (excluding solos) is short we can't discuss anymore, seriously.
