Turn_It_Up
Sad news. That debut was/is so bad ass. Great memories:=========Rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose passed away on Saturday, March 3, at the age of 64. Montrose founded the legendary band of the same name with Sammy Hagar in the early 70s, launching their careers to a whole new level. Several rockers have already reacted on Twitter expressing their sadness and gratitude to Ronnie Montrose and the music he created. Among those expressing their condolences are Slash, Nikki Sixx and Megadeth's Dave Ellefson who played with Montrose for a few years. They all seem to agree that the debut Montrose release was a real game-changer for the genre. dalsh327
I heard about it this morning, very sad. Montrose is a criminally underrated band. RIP Hagar wrote in his book why they had one great album and why it didn't last. Prostate cancer's nasty stuff. Get your junk checked so you can keep riding it wet and hard into the old age home. With the exception of switching channels mid-song, I always loved the sound of 8-tracks. Especially the quadrophonic ones.
mrandyk
I hate how few replies this topic has, but I suppose Montrose has never gotten the recognition they may deserve. That first Montrose album really helped change the game.Today I brought Ronnie's death to someone I work with and made a joke about Mick Mars stealing the intro/outro to Bad Motor Scooter for the intro to Kickstart My Heart, but the guy just refused to agree that it's close to the same thing. I think it's unquestionably at the very least a major nod to Ronnie, but this guy wouldn't even say it's a tribute. Fuck I hate my coworkers. mrandyk
Oh man. This has become an even larger shame than it already was. Terrible to know that he suffered from such great depression.
