Terrible DVD reissue covers

This seems to be a recurring theme among reissues of movies, classic and more recent. Awful, Photoshopped looking images used on the covers, often when there's a perfectly good poster that would've served the purpose fine.

The thing that bothers me about this one is that it's a clear knockoff of one of the theatrical posters for the movie. Why not just use the original image and not some cheap Photoshop knockoff? Especially considering the gimmick of this particular DVD release is that it was the original unaltered film and not one of the bastardized special editions?

All I can do when I see these is laugh. What were they honestly thinking? It looks like some 6th grader put it together on MS Paint in 5 minutes. Again, why not just copy the poster? I don't get it.

There has yet to be a release of the Bond films on DVD or Blu-ray that uses the original posters. All of the artwork has been terrible. They got around that a bit with the Bond 50 box set by making a book like the Star Wars Blu-ray set but even the standalone releases had terrible cover art for the most part.

Skyfall used the original poster. At least the international poster, not the UK poster.

True (although I would have preferred the teaser poster to be used) but I meant more for older films. It's a shame the posters haven't been used. I do have the Collector's Edition of Casino Royale on DVD which used the awesome teaser poster so there's that too.

Ive got that edition of Casino Royale too, love it. What was the teaser poster for Skyfall? I'm drawing a blank...
