Explain to me how hard rock is interesting? Don't get me wrong I'm not saying their debut (which is basically 3 chord pop music, although if you're looking for interesting the way it's put together might be something investigation, there's a helluva lot going on on that album musically and not a note is wasted).

Three chord pop music? Really? Fuck me, that's certainly not how I've ever seen it. Look at the guitar work on "This is the One" for a start.

big fan of U2 but How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb is terrible

All that You Can't Leave Behind isn't much better

Whaaat? HTDAAB had some awesome songs, man! Original of the Species, SYCMOYO, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo! And ATYCLB had Walk On, Beautiful Day and Stuck In A Moment!

Vertigo isn't bad, Sometimes is excellent, love that song, and Beautiful Day and Kite I like, it just comes across as boring on the whole. the 90s output of Pop, Zooropa and of course Achtung Baby is far better for me

Yeah, U2 had more personality in the 90s, sometimes I think Bono was way too "Jesus" in the 2000s, y'know?

It has a lot of frills and everything but structurally its pretty much 3 chord pop, This is the One goes the furthest out and even that don't go so far.

Sex Pistols - Nevermind The Bollocks

I'm sorry, but this album is just terrible. Yes, I get that it's a cultural statement and all, but everything on it is bad. All the playing of all the instruments, the singing, the lyrics, the compositions. Everything about it is just terrible.

I think it's perfect :) It's one of a couple of albums I've come across that is truly flawless and consists of all 10 out of 10 songs. The singing I can see as being a bit different and possibly quite grating but the instrument playing? Steve Jones is on fire on that album, I believe it was Bill Price who said that it was 'the tightest guitar playing I've ever heard'. And the compositions, the songs themselves, Christ, I don't think rock n roll can actually get any better than that.
