xphoenix
I'm wondering what people would expect to pay for a whistle or microphone used in a GnR concert. I went to a GnR Las Vegas show last year and Axl threw his PC whistle to my friend. He now has it hanging up in his office.Just curious what people think a fair price would be to offer for the whistle... also curious what you'd pay for the mic he throws out at the end. niceguy
Agreed. I'd frame it if I caught it. Wouldn't buy it, though. On eBay, you'd likely get $50 for it.

xphoenix
More curiosity than anything. I cant ever see my friend selling it or giving it away. I would never pay for it, catching it yourself is part of what makes it special.I
Coma16
How would a potential buyer know if it is legit and not some dollar store rip-off? Are they branded GNR?
xphoenix
Axl does not skimp on his whistles. Its a high quality and rubber tipped. There is no real way to know for sure though, not individually numbered or GnR stamp or anything.

Alain4911
I would pay a pretty decent chunk of cash IF it was a blue wireless mic with a white foam top and some damage to it-like it had been picked at neurotically... Because it was...For some reason this would be the most important piece of axl garbage I could think of or would want. Almost any mic from the UYI tour would fit this description to a tee.I would want it even if it werent from that tour though... As long as it had all those details and was really axl's. highvoltage
I think the story behind catching or obtaining these kinds of items usually exceeds their commercial value. The item itself isn't rare (there's a whistle from practically every show they've ever played out there), but actually catching the whistle or the mic yourself from a show you were at? That's really rare, and I wouldn't part with the item for any sum someone was likely to offer me for it.

Saltzy
I've often wondered what I/we could get for this after getting it all framed and mounted. (Note, it is not for sale)The story is on the main forum somewhere, but long story short this (as in the autographed mic) was sent to me by the Hard Rock Casino after the Appitite for Democracy residency in 2012 after we had the mic that was tossed at the end of the show taken away from us by security and I raised holy hell about it here and on a few other GNR message boards. I took care of acquirig the pics, room key, and ticket stub, and getting it framed as seen. It's been PSA authenticated, and has all sorts of documentation that it was a stage used mic that was sent to me by the Hard Rock Casino in LV. If i had this thing, I wouldnt sell it, its a thing to be kept, but well if im broke and in really need for cash, I wouldnt give this away for less than $1000 to $1500, I know no1 will even pay more than $500 for this, but well its pretty awesome u have it, I have drum sticks signed by Steven Adler and ive kept them safe, I will never sell them

Here is the link to the thread from back in 2012 that got me/us the mic back. Almost 3 years later, and it's still one of my favorite stories ever. I will always be indebited to this board for how it helped me out.http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/194893-saturday-nights-mic-tossassistance-requested/?hl=%2Bsaturday+%2Bnight+%2Bmic+%2BtossI will tell you right off the top that this is worth way more than $1,000-$1,500 though. For one, the mic itself, brand new out of the box is like $300. The framing was like $400. (The plexiglass is 100% custom made and took like 6 weeks to receive) and the PSA authentication was $100.With all the documentation I have to prove it's an actual stage used mic (the thread above, the packing receipt from the Hard Rock, etc), the autographs, and the framing there is no way it's only worth that much. There is only one real way to find out though, and neither my friend who I gave it to nor myself have any interest in ever actually trying to sell it. It's gonna go to his 1st born son, which was the one requirement I had when I gave it to him. Edited March 18, 2015 by Saltzy

I know you wont sell it, but take someone else who has a similar mic with the framing etc etc, what would be the total cost?

I know you wont sell it, but take someone else who has a similar mic with the framing etc etc, what would be the total cost?I have put together a number of similiar pieces with sports related themes. What I can tell you is this. People are willing to pay a serious premium to be able to just buy a finished, wall ready piece that is ready to hang as soon as they get it home. They also like things that can be easily displayed. I won't argue that the letters are more historic and personal, but at the end of the day they are just that, letters. There is only so much you can do with them. I also won't argure that anything stage used from the GNR glory years is far more appealing to pretty much everyone. With that said, I think that if we ever had to sell this, and were able to get it into a major Rock n Roll auction, that it would probably go for somethng like $2,250 on the low end and maybe up to $3,000 or so on the high end. I could very well be wrong, but that is what my gut says.As far as the framing, I live in the NYC area. Everyhing is way more here, certainly if you want somethng custom made. I think that with the amount of work it took to get it all done that $400 was a fair price. I'm not sure if you can tell, but the square behind the mic is a morror to reflect the signatures on the other side of the mic, which itself had to be held in place with steel wire. The framing guy told me it was one of the harder projects he has had in recent memeory, and I believe him.
