Lots of songs repeat lyrics or verses.  It isn't uncommon at all.  I'm not sure why people are surprised that a GnR song does.  Especially given the style of song

I like Absurd a lot, but I think it could benefit from having different lyrics in the second verse. That is my only gripe with the song. The third verse could be the same as the first to nicely wrap/round things up.

    Translate?

Wrote it all down to Google Translate.

The comment by the dude was basically: Sorry, to comment, but the music is bad. I know we won't get another AFD or UYI, because they are different people these days. But that song was disrespectful to the fans.

Her answer (and this is a direct translation): "Too bad you feel disrespected. I guarantee you 100% that this was not the intention but anyway, this song is part of the cd. enjoy your day."

  3. Seems like every thread is about Absurd, so I don't know where to post this exactly, but after watching Youtube-videos of the band performing it, especially the second time, they seem to really dig the song. At least, to me, it looked like they were a bit more animated than during older songs. Or not more animated, but differently animated. Excited.

Attacking one woman is as misogynistic as attacking one black man is racist. Misogeny is the systematic contemp for women, a devaluation of a sex, not simply disliking one person who happens to be a woman. If we are going to use the misogyny card every time someone expresses anger at a woman, regardless of how abrasive or vulgar that is, we depower the term misogyny to a point where it becomes impotent while we at the same time raise women on a pedestal where they individually become sacrosanct. The same goes for people of other ethnicities, religions and lifestyles.

    I agree.

  5. I think the lyrics are so over the top that you can't really be offended by them. I think real misogyny is more subtle than that. Or rooted in real life actions, phrases and structures. There's stuff on Appetite songs that are lot worse.

I mean, call someone "a syphilistic priestess" and they'll probably look you funny, but in the end laugh you of.

Say "turn around, bitch, I got use for you" and that's just... wrong.

Disclaimer: I'm not personally offended by any Gn'R lyrics. It's all art and we shouldn't censor it nor should artists censor themselves. Though, we can and should boycott art that we don't want to consume.

BUT: why does the "screaming fucking banshee" come in a beat early?!  When did Axl make that decision? It was the wrong one imho.  He sounds off the beat. I don't care if it was intentional or not, it doesn't sound like it was.

I have recorded one song and there was a part when my vocals came in a bit too early/offbeat, but it fit the vibe so it was kept like that. Maybe something like that happened when they were producing the song? A mistake, but something they thought sounded good, so they ran with it.

I like that it is offbeat. A little change in dynamics.

Can someone politely tell Beta what the difference is between a "new arrangement" and a "new song" lol

I mean I get what she is saying for sure, but just this *is* not a new song, just like Slither is not a new song just because Axl is singing on it now and Frank is playing drums instead of Matt Sorum

But then again, was Don't Cry, which was performed in the 80's, a new song in 1991? :wow:

(Not trying to argue or pick a fight... :smiley-confused2:)

An outake from that shitty The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) EP.

Say whaaa... It's one of their best work :headbang: I mean, I like the party side of Limp Bizkit, but their serious, more metal stuff is pretty great!

  9. I don't get this modern day infantilization of adults by selling them all kinds of cheap plastic crap. Unsustainable plastic pieces of junk made dirt cheap in China. It's even worse when rock bands do it. Have some dignity.

I get buying t-shirts that you can wear or buying posters that you can frame, but this kind of crap? Yuck!

  10. I like it, but, to me, it still feels unfinished. Half-baked. Which is ironic, considering how old it is.

But then again I kinda see it as Get in the Ring -type of song by New Gn'R and the original Get in The Ring feels half-baked to me, so... I don't know. I like it and I don't like it. It has potential. Though, I see it as this "fun", tongue-in-cheek -type of song. Mainly because of the lyrics, because you can't take them seriously. And as a result, you can't take the song seriously. But I still like it.

I didn't except this song to be so tough to put my finger on. Absurd!

Dustin Bones is the guy who replaced Axl as vocalist a few years ago. In all seriousness - he creates song-parodies with Axl's current "voice" - for example, seach "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". Hilarious stuff

Thanks for this! Hilarious and way too accurate! That Kickstart My Heart is so funny on so many levels. Those background vocals by "Duff" are the cherry on top!

Him and Trent are shit though.

Reznor has been saying for 20+ years that that story is made up and not true. Which, I guess, was one of the reasons he cut ties with him back in the day.

I love the production-mess that CD is. :-D I can listen to it a thousand times and still hear new things and details. There are so many layers, so many things buried in the mix, I think it's absolutely fascinating, trying to figure out what the hell is actually exactly going on in all of these songs! It never gets old for me, it will probably always remain my most favourite record of all time for so many reasons.

This. So much this. After all these years I still hear new things. I love it. Final version of There Was A Time is such a masterpiece, for example.

Though, I got to say I do love the demos too. Especially the bass-heavy versions. And IRS '99 has an amazing, untouchable vibe.

I guess I love all those versions. I love the songs and it's cool to have different versions of them.
