  1. I like all three of their albums, but Blackbird is my favourite.

And the live in Amsterdam DVD is awesome. They seem like an amazing live band.

I hope I'll see them this summer at some festival.

  2. ALTER BRIDGE's third album, "AB III", is now available for streaming in its entirety at NME.com. It can also be heard using the Soundcloud player below.

"AB III" will be released on October 8 via Roadrunner Records in all territories except North America. The CD was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who has previously worked with CHEVELLE and RATT.

    "AB III" track listing:

    01. Slip To The Void

    02. Isolation

    03. Ghost Of Days Gone By

    04. All Hope Is Gone

    05. Still Remains

    06. Make It Right

    07. Wonderful Life

    08. I Know It Hurts

    09. Show Me A Sign

    10. Fallout

    11. Breathe Again

    12. Coeur D'Alene

    13. Life Must Go On

    14. Words Darker Than Their Wings

Singer Myles Kennedy told The Pulse of Radio that the follow-up to 2007's "Blackbird" will be a "darker" effort. "There is certainly a common thread throughout the, almost the entire record," he said. "It's lyrically a pretty dark album, probably the darkest record I've been a part of. Just a lot of questions personally that I had over the last few years, just things I was struggling with, and it was a very cathartic record for me, just to kind of get that all out. I mean, that's generally the way I personally like to write lyrics, for things that are honest and from the heart."

Kennedy also spoke to The Pulse of Radio about how he and and his bandmates approached the new album from a songwriting perspective. "There's a certain spontaneity to this record basically because of the fact that we arranged it in a much shorter period of time and the way we tend to write, it's very part-oriented," he said. "Mark and I will basically stockpile musical ideas and melodic ideas. And then it's kind of like putting a puzzle together. So we get together with Brian [Marshall, bass] and Scott [Philips, drums/keyboards] and we get everything to gel together in the context of the arrangement. There is certainly a common thread throughout the, almost the entire record," he said.

ALTER BRIDGE plans to hit the road in October after the album is out, starting with a European tour.

Kennedy recently toured with Slash as his live lead vocalist, after singing two numbers on the guitarist's debut solo album.

The instrumental members of ALTER BRIDGE toured this summer in their other band, CREED.

  3. I'm only going friday.

I saw Aerosmith front row at Graspop two years ago. That was awesome.

Friday's line-up is really cool. Aerosmit, Motorhead, Stone Temple Pilots.

Too bad Slash plays on saturday, but I already saw him a few weeks ago at Pinkpop.

  4. Starting this week, Amazon.com will stream a new single from the upcoming self-titled STONE TEMPLE PILOTS album. Each week leading up to the release, a new single will be available for your listening pleasure.

A deluxe version of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' new self-titled album with expanded artwork and two bonus tracks will be available on the May 25 street date. Target will be given a CD/DVD version of the set with exclusive interview content, and Walmart will air an exclusive STP performance in stores and on its Soundcheck web site.

The group's self-titled sixth album, its first all-new effort since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", arrives on May 25.

The self-titled effort features the following track listing:

    01. Between The Lines

    02. Take A Load Off

    03. Huckleberry Crumble

    04. Hickory Dichotomy

    05. Dare If You Dare

    06. Cinnamon

    07. Hazy Daze

    08. Bagman

    09. Peacoat

    10. Fast As I Can

    11. First Kiss On Mars

    12. Maver

The disc will be issued through Atlantic Records, although Weiland told The Pulse of Radio at the time of the band's 2008 reunion tour that he was interested in exploring other options outside the traditional music industry. "When we first talked about putting STP back together, it was do this tour and then see about doing a creative deal with another company, like an all-in deal," he said. "And, you know, if you look at even like RADIOHEAD and a handful of other bands, they make more money doing things in an unconventional fashion as opposed to doing it, you know, with the major labels."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS reunited in 2008 after a six-year layoff. The band's last album, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will be featured on VH1's "Friday Night Alright" concert series on Friday, May 21 at 11:00 p.m. The performance footage was filmed on March 27, 2010 at Chicago's Riviera Theatre.

"Friday Night Alright" is described as a music fan's passport to first-class rock and pop music concerts in HD from around the world.

"'Friday Night Alright' [is] the premiere destination for concerts on television — a different show featuring an A-list artist every week, driven by the excitement of arm-waving, foot-stomping audiences," said Ben Zurier, Executive Vice President, Program Strategy for VH1. "The series literally covers the globe to present the best artists, and the best-produced concerts."

According to Billboard.com, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS has several TV appearances lined up around its new album's release — including NBC-TV's "Late Show With David Letterman" (May 19) and ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" (May 25) — and it's scheduled for Howard Stern's Sirius Satellite Radio show May 18.

  5. The other CD is called My 4th of July. Its actually really good.

Its funny to watch him do this great alternative rock and then listen to the gospel countryish music of his solo CDs.

I can email you the 4th of July stuff. I think its on iTunes now. Not sure- let me know.

I can't wait to hear the songs you linked- I heard they're great. I'll download in two hours when I get home.

Is he IN Scars of Broadway? Are they still a band? I think he'd do a decent job at VR frontman. There's that video of him doing Slither right after Scott left.

I still can't imagine that the guy in THAT VR video is the same guy as the skinny kid on the cover of his solo CD.

    Funny.

Don't know if SOB still exists, but he was in the band. But I think he only played guitars and did some background vocals.

Didn't like that slither video with him so much tbh, but every other video from him are pretty awesome.

And according to his twitter he's gonna record a new solo album

  6. No problem.

I also have a video from an acoustic performance of "Die in Vegas" somewhere.

If anyone is interested I'll upload it.

Didn't know he has 2 albums released. I have "poor mans son", which is a great album. What's the other one, and how is it?

I still think Franky would be a good choice for VR. I really like the guy.

  7. SLASH Runs Into SCOTT WEILAND On Way To Las Vegas - Feb. 22, 2010

Over the weekend, Slash flew to Las Vegas to take part in PokerStars.net's North American Poker Tour celebrity charity tournament. On the plane to Sin City though, he ran into Scott Weiland, who was in VELVET REVOLVER with Slash until acrimoniously leaving the group in April 2008.

The guitarist spoke to VH1 Radio Networks' Dave Basner about the reunion.

"After we got off, the plane landed, it was cool," Slash said. "It was nice to see him. We talked for a minute, we walked through the airport together. It was the first time we talked since the last show of the [last VELVET REVOLVER] tour."

Slash went on to say that things were great between him and the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer.

"It was really cool and STP has a new record about to come out and I was really excited about it," Slash told VH1 Radio Networks. "It's just... I don't know... Now that we're not sort of at odds with each other in the band, I have no issues."

As for the poker tournament, Slash — who was at a table with Christian Slater, Marlon Wayans, UFC fighter Tito Ortiz and World Series of Poker winner Chris Moneymaker — didn't win.

Check out pictures from the event at NAPT.com.

This confirms they talked to each other.

  8. New myspace blog:

    Happy Holidays from Slash

Greetings enthusiasts, how is everybody doing this festive season? All's well over here in the City of Bangles. I'll be Staying in town for the holidays, but I'm doing a poker tourney in the Bahamas 1st week of January, which is a benefit for "The Foundation for AIDs Research," or AMFAR. It should be a cool trip & it’s for an important cause.

The mastering session of my solo record is done. We did it at Sterling Sound with George Marino, who is hands down the most genius mastering engineer I've ever worked with. He is the perfect engineer to best bring out the dynamic nuances of the analog recording & I'm ecstatic with the results.

Although, it is not in my nature to brag about how good the performances are or how good the songs are, I will say, between Eric Valentine & George Marino it is a fucking great sounding record.

We are now in the process of mixing the special bonus tracks which should be done next week. Then, we will master those & be done with the whole recording, mixing, mastering process.

I should be signing a US distribution deal in the coming days, I will announce who with as soon as I do. We're still looking at an April release so far.

I'll be at the NAMM show next year announcing the New "Slash model" Marshall, as well as a new signature Les Paul & a signature set of Seymour Duncan pick ups, all of which will be available early in the new year. I played the new "Slash model" prototype with the new Seymour Duncan pick ups at the KLOS Christmas Show at the Nokia recently & they sound fantastic. The performance was a little loose, but the guitar sounded great ; )

Anyway, things have been pretty busy around here. Until next time, have a great holiday & happy new year, 2010 is going to be killer! Iiiii|; ),

  9. @SlashHudson Hey Slash, is Meat Loaf going to sing on your album? Thanks.

about 3 hours ago from TweetDeck

@MackArillo. No, Meatloaf didn't sing on my record, but Meatloaf is badass.

about 3 hours ago from TwitterBerry in reply to MackArillo

So now we know for sure. Would have been cool though.

  10. "Sahara" is being rerecorded in English :

    Slash:

    @brandonw3. We're recutting it in English w/Koshi

about 12 hours ago from TwitterBerry in reply to brandonw3

Cool, I really like that song, but it sucks that it's in Japanese.

    no it doesn't.

A good song is a good song regardless of the language.

    Yeah, I really like it.

But I hate it when I can't sing along with it. I just think it would be cool to have an English version.

Cool, I really like that song, but it sucks that it's in Japanese.

I wonder if it will also be on the album, or just a B-side to a single.

  12. http://www.nme.com/news/arctic-monkeys/46941

They just supported the Arctics in Brixton.

apparently they were the secret band playing at Pukklepop

Yep, and they also were the surprise act at Lowlands.

I saw them at Pukkelpop. Great show, and I'm sure they'll come up with a great album. But I prefered the performance from QOTSA at Pinkpop last year.

You can watch some good quality videos from Lowlands here:
