I just go back to Absurd and how there was zero hype for Silkworms basically, and Axl chose to release that as the first single from the NITL lineup and it seems he had intentions of releasing it even in 2013. I'm speculating that maybe the motivation to release Absurd is the same motivation to release those other singles, mainly at least.
Sure, sure, but that still doesn't mean the hype couldn't have played some role there. In the decision-making. Again, they knew. You literally can't prove or disprove it in any way.

I mean, maybe the hype was not a part of it, it's just Axl slowly releasing tunes he still wants to release when it feels like the right time for him to do so.
Yes, and maybe it was a bit. They're surely not unaware of the status the song (or a song of this title) used to have. We're speculating here, but that's the whole point.

possible, or maybe Axl just simply likes The General and he wanted to release it, just like Absurd.
That's naturally always part of it.

Maybe they released it partially because of the hype, yet didn't realize the hype was partially caused by folks having heard stuff they thought was The General but in reality was Monsters all along.

Monsters will be the B side of Atlas
Nah, it's not a B-side type of song. Even if you call it "R". Atlas would do, actually. Now that would be a strong fucking single.

Funny how ev'rything was Monsters when we held on to the Gen

They seriously didn't let Frank rerecord the drums? Poor guy. Not that I don't prefer Brain, but still...

1. There Was a Time, Better, Monsters, Oh My God
2. Hard School, Street of Dreams, Sorry, I. R. S., This I Love
3. Perhaps, Prostitute, Shackler’s Revenge, Madagascar, Chinese Democracy, Catcher in the Rye, Atlas Shrugged, State of Grace
4. The General, Scraped, Riad n’ the Bedouins, If the World, Silk Worms
Some songs would oscillate one level up or down, like Atlas (3 or 2), Prostitute (3 or 2), Catcher (3 or 4), SoG (3 or 4) etc.

Let's just hope that after all those years, it won't be full of bugs upon release, like CP77 was, even though now it's a superb game.

I believed it would have a digital version, but not because Merchnando said so. He also said "new album in 6 months" and that was about 4 or 5 years ago and he's never even addressed it ever since. Fuck that clown.

The last thing I want them to put on any future album is yet another cover tbh. It would just take up space of a possible new song of their own. It's not like they haven't played enough of them throughout their career.

Looks like since the tour is over and there’s nothing to book, certain people have been stripped off their former duties – especially in light of certain recent grave allegations – and will now be fully committed to their real talent.

Ritz 91 vid, Monsters (if we count it), AfD demos
They also have other great official releases we should be thankful for, like Saskatoon 93, House of Blues 01, or the Village Sessions, right? Right?

Those of you who remember who SP1at is may find this interesting.
Prior to all the lawsuit stuff, the latest from GN'R was all positive. There is new, the beginnings of new GN'R material that is not related to CD, there. There was also wording that some historic older material was possible. Slash is expecting this later next year. I asked though about his previous assertions that there was an album for all the post CD material that had been release, and there was no response. So, I don't know.
Yeah but this is like sort of a typical forum stuff. What are this guy’s credentials? He may have been right about something in the past, but where exactly is this coming from? Has he really talked with Slash personally? Where? How do we know it’s true and he’s not just yet another fake insider? He’s not saying anything different that I haven’t said here several times myself – old material, CD material, possibly some new material – ideally.
So I’m taking this with a mountain of salt for now. -
I think the reasons were several, and one of them was balance. Axl would otherwise have had only 4tus on "his side", basically VR against him again. And yeah, they clearly want to have fun and go easy with any new material, which might be a view Matt wouldn't share. I still would've preferred him.

Where's Iron Man, you heathens.
Also, War Pigs is probably the best one.

You mean the 2015 one? Yeah, that was an odd thing. I'd seen him on that tour (2011, Arnhem) and it was pretty great in a lot of ways. But cuts like that just draw attention away from the show and really kill the momentum imo.
I've seen Roger live three times. First time in Lichtenvoorde at Arrow Rock Festival 2006. It was a year after the infamous Live 8 Floyd reunion and at around the same time of Gilmour's On An Island album + tour (which I saw 3 months earlier and was absolutely stunning). This was the beginning of his DSOTM tour that really seemed to showcase his regained joy in touring after he'd done In The Flesh. It still really focussed on the music with a long and diverse set including DSOTM in it's entirity, combined with big hits and deep cuts alike. Really great gig! So good that I saw him again a year later in Arnhem doing the same show.
The relationship between Rog and Dave (and Rick) seemed rocky at best during Live 8 and 2 years later at the Syd Barrett tribute they both performed, but not together. If I remember correctly Rog joined David for something late 2010 and David joined Roger on Comfortably Numb during his 2011 London show(s).
Somewhere during the The Wall tour he started losing it. He lost his filter and his megalomania and narcisism had grown immensely. The feud between Rog and Dave roared up a few times and of course Roger made some ridiculous comments on Rick after his death as well. By now the guy just lost it completely and he's just a bitter narcissist. I don't give a fuck about his political statements, which have also went from fairly subtle or at least veiled in the 00's to flat out insane now.
Sorry that it was such an odd and challenging show for you. The book reading stuff is just his absolute fucking insanity. Again. I'm sorry but who gives a fuck. This is not what people pay money for Roger. Get that through your skull.
It's disappointing and sad when someone who's created so much amazing music that you love turns into such a bitter megalomaniac figure.
Why infamous?
PS: DSOTM is cool but also overhyped (mainly cause of Money), and they have better albums. The Wall, to name just one.
PS 2: Also, I'm a big fan of the post-Waters era and even consider the 2 albums one of the best ones. And I don't give a damn what the majority says. Not that it has anything to do with the topic.

I'm too old for this shit.

"Pathetic" is the word I was looking for. Live and let live, or so they say. Ironically, hardly with guns, I'll admit that.

Its good, but doesn't Apocalyptic Love fit the best non_gnr album description?
Honestly, I don't even remember it. Which is not to say it is bad, it's just that... I don't even remember it. Which speaks for itself.

There were no "plans". It was all bullshit from the internet from the beginning.

Nah. 5 o clock is a great album but I rate WoF,AL and his solo album as higher.
Tbh I don't dislike anything he's released but I do love some more than others.
I know he’s done some more advanced guitar work on some of the later albums (Anastasia etc. iirc), but 5 o’ Clock sounds more consistent, and yes, perhaps more like GNR, it has Matt on it, and one of the most important things is also the singer (can’t stand Myles, sorry). The songs are great, the whole thing works as a unit and I played the hell out of it back in the day. I still have it in my PC, and that’s saying something! Good old uncomplicated yet awesome dirty rock n' roll I'd surely play in the car if I had one!

5 o' Clock is the best non-GNR music album Slash has ever done. There.

You can't be serious. We're counting the opportunities where Axl uses rasp in seconds per show now.
