  1. It's the "cool" thing to do in the media. Notice how when Axl starts doing shows there's all these friviouls(sp) news stories coming out? He could go on and do the best performance of his life and the next day, there will be some bullshit story on him

  2. I dont think Axl was thinking about the risks.....

he was just pissed off (and who can blame him?)

    mr.Q

You may be right -- but the "risk" that I mentioned is a very real one.

As for the statement about it -- well, Axl can't just walk off the stage in the middle of a show anymore (unless he has a very good reason to do so). Afterall, I'm guessing he has to "prove" during this overseas tour that he can show up for shows if he hopes to convince a promoter to back the band for a U.S. tour.

what do you think a promotor would think about his late arrivals?

(personal experience: Madrid 2.5hr; Almeria 1.5 hr)

This might end up in a riot (hopefully it doesn't). In Madrid it nearly did, throwing chairs etc.

A riot is a very serious risk for any promotor I guess.

    mr.Q

Theres a lot of reasons for late starts. Most of the concerts ive been have been about an hour late. A concer t isnt like a movie, you can't just hit play.

very true, i expect most big bands to be about an hour late, but 2.5 hours in madrid? and it was close to 3 hours when i caught them in pittsburgh! and i was possibly waiting for axl to eat some fucking lamb?! he needs to just have the damn shows scheduled later or have his management on top of this shit.

FUCK YOU MAN! You have no right to dis Axl for wanting a lamb dinner. For all you know, he was starving to death and that lamb was the only thing that saved the concert.

Axl should have the right to show up three hours late and fat with lamb. Hell, he has the right to not show up at all. YOu should just be grateful that he's drawing breath on this Earth. And you should not have the right to complain about it. GO LISTEN TO VR! Axl can shit in my mouth, and I'd call it Snickers.

I believe every word of Axl's management's press release. AXL ROOOOOOLLZ! SLASH IS BAD! CHINESE DEMOCRACY STARTS NOW! SILKWORMS NUMBER ONE SINGLE OF 2K7!!!!

    WOW! That was, uh, weird

  3. Isn't it rumoured that the band were re-recording AFD along with CD?....if this is the case then maybe they're planning on releasing it to mark the 20th anniversary of the original release and to mark the return of the GnR name throughout the world...

That would be like Paul McCartney re-recording the White Album with a bunch of session musicians and putting the Beatles name on it. Completely UNnecessary.

Or like, you know, putting a band together and calling themselves "The Beatles"

    :krider:

  4. Axl Rose - Denver, CO (July 11, 1991): "See we dont use a setlist, we go by how we feel and how you feel. That way, we dont get bored by doing the same shit every night. And you people go, well they did the same show when I saw them in Chicago. We dont have guys standing under the stage doing my whistle parts and we dont do sample shit."

That pretty much says it all.

Here's the setlist from the comeback show in 2001.... Sub out Rhiad, Oh My God, and Silworms for Better, IRS, and Madagascar and you have virutally the exact setlist from every show between 2001-2006. In fact, the 1st 4 songs are identical to the most recent set in Sweden. Some other set openers, at least, would be nice (yes we know where the fuck we are!). I mean, no matter how much the "new" lineup rocks, its pretty lame when you know all the songs they're gonna play and there's no hope of seeing a song like Estranged or Civil War!

Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Live And Let Die, Oh My God, My Michelle, Think About You, You Could Be Mine, Sweet Child O' Mine, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, November Rain, Out Ta Get Me, Rocket Queen, Rhiad And The Bedouins, Chinese Democracy, Patience, The Blues, Nightrain

    encore: Silkworms, Paradise City

Yeah but GNR didn't NEED fans like they do now so they have to play it safe

  5. Guns are back, playing gig after gig, getting in fights, showing up at forumla one races...etc...but I don't know, my interest in this new band is so much less than the interest I had in the band back in 2002 when they were touring Europe. In fact, I just find this new GNR to be a lot more "blah" and uninspiring than any other GNR that has taken the stage.

The thing is, I don't know why I feel this way, but I just do. It's as if something were missing, but then I think to myself, it's not that anything is missing, it's just that the Guns N Roses fuse has finally expired and the concept of what made Guns N Roses, Guns N Roses, is over.

Do any of you also feel the same way? That this new GNR is border line BORING. Same set list, same clothing, same show night after night. It's Summer 2006, Axl has no new single tied to a major movie, he has no momentum or press except for fighting Tommy Hilfiger and biting a security guard.

I think all of us believed that Axl would only return to the stage to promote an album that was out. But that's not the case and here we are, the same cycle of waiting and waiting. No release date set, no single, no video...the whole thing is boring and tiresome.

You know, I used to remember Guns N Roses, I used to love them, sometimes, when I close my eyes and think hard enough, GNR comes back to me and I can see them up there, on stage, kicking ass, looking like this...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4luYy4NikE...0Roses%20Jungle

Yeah I agree. I'll still get the album though

  6. Assuming C.D. is released later this year (which is a pretty large assumption) , and the U.S. tour goes down as planned , what happens next???.......another C.D.??......I know I know the very thought is ridiculous....but when all is said & done what will we be talking about & looking forward to this time next year.....don't get me wrong I am thoroughly enjoying all the activity going on lately....im just looking up the road a bit....

another 10 years till the next one

  7. He goes from being non-existent for several years, to now making headlines, and unfortunatley not for all the right reasons.

But whenever Axl goes into the spotlight, he always gets into these types of situations. Hell it even happened here in Arizona back in 98 when he wasnt in the spotlight. I dont give a shit what he does in his personal time, he's writing kickass songs and putting on kickass shows with his kickass band. So what if he has a temper or if he's a spoiled rock star.. he's allowed to be. He's Axl Fucking Rose.

So he's NOT a human being. He just exists for your entertainment?

  8. Man there are so many retarded losers out there its ridiculous. I say Ron should stop answering e-mails and just put up blogs so he dosent have to answer the same thing a million times.

    http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...c1-aea47baf2a8f

    Hey all!

As ya know, I read and answer every email personally, and always enjoy corresponding with each of ya. Been answering hundreds of emails a day, spending 6 hours a day - that's fine, happy to do it. But all the typing is causing numbness and pain in my hands and is starting to affect my ability to play guitar. I've had this problem in the past as some of ya might know, and I need to back off a bit on typing before the damage gets worse. So please, unless it's really important, or doesn't require a long response on my end, please be gentle with the emails and myspace messages :P

*Some folks have been sending 10 emails a day, and there's only so many times I can say "That's a question for GnR management, I can't answer that..." - lol. It is not my place to make announcements about Guns N' Roses' business - their management will fill you in on things at their discretion.

*If we haven't spoken since age 10, please don't ask if I can get your cousin's friend's wife's co-worker's neighbor's son free tickets and backstage passes for all his friends to next week's show. There are security issues, plus you're asking me to strain my relationship with everyone in the group by being responsible for people I don't even know and have them hang where other members need their privacy and space to prepare for the show. The requests have reached nearly 1000 in two months time... :P

*I am *NOT* MySpace tech support - I don't know why your media player still isn't working properly, even though I walked you through the process three times.

*I'd prefer not to give Axl your personal messages - it's a bit awkward...

Thanks so much for your understanding :)

The price of being in a band with a high profile name. Comes with the territory

  9. Yeh the looks good...but maybe he could stand to lose the braids.

Yeah, the braids I don't understand.

But I heard that if he removes them; his hair is very thin and you can practically see his scalp.

So maybe the braids are for his own good too.

    Heard from where?

  10. Really? I havent had time to see wat the public thinks of bumblefuck or the new bands performance. NYC seemed postive tho. i wish id been at the izzy show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a more holistic approach why not have Izzy slash and Bumblefoot and finck and everyone (even Bachy boy) for the world tour. Either way GNR is b-b-b-b-b-back!!! in my humble opinion.

GNR back? Nope. Axl's new band under the GNR name? Yep

  11. Doesn't it strike you odd that the other guys who worked on this alleged 3 albums worth of material are content with only playing 2 or 3 of those songs a night, and pretty much the same ones?

You are obviously not going to cut any of the AFD singles, or even the stronger album cuts like 'Its So Easy' and 'Mr. Brownstone'. But songs like 'Out Ta Get Me' or 'My Michelle' can't be dropped in favor of tunes these guys actually, you know, worked on??

I don't know. Strikes me odd. My fear is that these guys either have no say in what goes on or no balls. Neither scenario is particularly encouraging.

It's kinda like, if you have a new bassplayer join your band and he suddenly calls the shots. Replacement guys don't have much say until they have more senority

  12. We've heard AXL say it would be out this year, he is touring, speaking public, "looks happy" out on stage, is he ready to finally release this thing? lets hope he stays true to his word and releases this darn thing. however, what if it doesn't come out as promised by AXL? Do you think the press will tear him a new one and never give him a chance again? and what from the fans? how will you fellow gunner fans react to yet another year of dissapointment and letdown. i mean yeah it's cool and all he his on tour again, but would you rather hear Appetite being toured again or CHINESE DEMOCRACY? He must at some point start playing new songs on a more regular basis.

To be honest I'm fine with it either way. Reason is that GnR press release saying the band played nearly half (6 songs) of Chinese Democracy during their NYC shows. Madagascar, Chinese Democracy, TWAT, IRS, Better and The Blues. So we've already heard half of the album. I'm not gonna die if the remaining 7 songs don't come out this year. It would be nice. But at this point, at least (after 6 years of waiting) we have a pretty good idea what the album sounds like.

Bottom line is, even though the leaked demos are incredible, in the end it's just an album. 13 million and 10 years of recording don't change that fact. Unless it's as grounbreaking and revolutionary as Nirvana's Nevermind, Appetite For Destruction, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Are You Experienced, Led Zeppelin IV, Sex Pistols Nevermind The Bollocks, Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon and other legendary rock recordings, Chinese Democracy will join the ranks of the thousands of other albums that rank as "great" but won't make Rolling Stone's Top 100 albums of all time list.

That bad thing is that Axl (and Geffen) have built this album up to the point that it's bound to disappoint not matter how amazing it is. How could it possibly live up to fan's expectations?

They have what, 32 songs? How does anyone know if THOSE songs will be on the album?

  13. Most of the mainstream has long given up on Axl anyway.

The general consensus seems to be "if it comes out, great, but I am not holding my breath."

Basically, it probably won't be much different then the flame out in 2002. A tour that went largely unnoticed by the general population anyway, if ticket sales numbers are to be believed.

He best at least have a single out before he thinks he is touring over here in the US. This ain't Europe where they pack stadiums just because they are pleased as punch you even flew over to see them. 2002 was basically sold here in America as a nostalgia act with only one of the original pieces. Well, one and a half if you count Dizzy. Ticket sales sucked.

Well, its 4 years later and there is no new product as of yet. I see little reason to think a US tour in 2006 will do any better than 2002 with nothing new. Hell, I don't even know it does as well, which ain't saying much.

    Yup, I agree!

  14. If there are any more leaks I don't think we should download them. We got our 'appetizers' with Better TWAT, IRS, and CITR. that should hold us off untill fall, if thats even true.

Besides, we don't want the album to be ruined when we get it. We've already heard at least 7 songs from it. And that only leaves about 5 or 6 new ones.

So my point is, if we can control ourselves, I don't think we should download any more new songs.

That's my feeling too in a way.

It was great when we got the IRS demo and then Better, we aleady had a version of IRS, so there was that and a clip of one new song. That's like an appetizer but then TWAT and CITR leaked and different versions of this and that leaked.... I hardly listen to the newer material, including songs from 02. just because i don't want to spoil the album. When it's released i can go and get all the demo's that are about, i just don't want to listen to the album and have heard parts of it already.

I dont blame people for downloading whatever leaks, that not a problem if you want to hear them. Not everyone wants to though. I'll not be downloading anything new. I don't care if everyone downloads. I don't want them to leak in the first place. Enough already.

I dont think many people will go with what your saying, but there are people who aren't downloading whatever they can get their hands on. It's a shame, 10 yrs work and it's all over the internet in a matter of seconds. NO MORE LEAKS!

The band just has to watch who they give the cd's to. Although it was a horrible album, Metallica kept people from downloading St Anger until days within its released. No demos were leaked etc.
