  1. Why you ask? We've all waited for it for years upon years. Desire, wanted, hell - lusted for it.

It works in his favour - why?

The Name, and the Group will sell out most places. Why? People love the group, the music, the stigma and the fact that anything can and will go wrong - anything can happen! Whilst this can also be bad, it's the fact it's live and dangerous - you don't know what's gunna happen next - and with such a volatile frontman...

So, he's making money without releasing anything. Not to mention, record sales, merch, tickets, etc. The music gets enough radio play to attract new people, and the fact that they are still around (no matter that the guitarist Slosh, or whatever it was isn't there, and everyone's idols Tracii Guns and Paul Huge left for pastures new).

The leaks satisfied people, and shows that Axl still has it in him. That, almost as precursor to the tour, gives a taster, but not too much. These are only demos, yet even as a Velvet Revolver fan, but managed to show up a bunch of their catalogue. And, they are only FREAKIN' DEMOS! People crave finished versions, as with the Live Tunes we've heard over the years. Studio Madagascar, Studio Blues, Studio Riyahd, etc.

And why do people also go to the concerts? Aside from music and atmostphere... - the fact that a NEW song might be played there, that they could be part of history, a release date announced. It may not have happened dozens of times, but people will still do it.

Sanctuary needs Axl, and he needs them. They provide the backing, he delivers the tours and will produce the goods. But by NOT releasing it, they make easy money before even dropping the album! The stigma attached to Chinese Democracy is like that of the Holy Grail - the stuff of legends. People claim to have heard it, but very conflicting views to say the least 'conflict' over it. Not releasing it adds to the infamy, the speculation over the years and money spent in production.

So, in fact, NOT releasing it does work in his favour - which could've been his plan all along ;)

    Sandman.

You're talking about only the hardcore fans and not the casual listener. It's them that he has to impress and put the album out for since the hardcores are already an easy sale

  2. I really think Axl believes that by selling out festivals in Europe that he can sell out arenas in the US...but let's face it, David Hasselhoff is huge in Europe. Axl is doing the same exact thing in 2006 as he did in 2002...and not to say it will end just as bad, but kicking off the tour in the US without a single or album to promote is a mistake, and we all agree on that. However, playing in large arenas that are half empty is so pathetic and sad to see. I remember seeing GNR in Hartford in 2002 and it was fairly empty...Axl needs to play smaller venues and major cities only...but this time around, I think A LOT of interest in the band has disappeared. In 2002, there was the mystery, the intrigue in Axl's return...but that's long gone. Now he is more of a joke than ever. A kick ass single and an AMAZING VMA performance, and maybe Axl could build some real momentum in the US, but right now, touring with his kareoke band, nobody cares outside of the die hards.

I'm not sure about where you live but Kroq out here in LA (the station doing the "Inland Invasion" show) is hyping the hell out of GNR. Even before the announcement they played GNR pretty frequently. The interest is still there, there's just been not a lot of promotion

  3. i know there plan they r trying 2 get there rep back around the world so everyone knows gnr is coming back. Then they will release it in 2007 after the 20th anniversity of afd. That is what is going 2 happen i just know it. I just hope that on their U.S. tour they visit michigan.

Yep, and Axl would like a liar again after saying the release would be in the "fall or late fall"

  4. Dudes, I can´t believe some of you dare to bother the band members with stupid comments or crappy messages. I mean, they are very cool with the fans but some of you are abusing their patience.

Do you think you can bother them with stupid messages? I don´t want to name names but what do you want? Do you want them to stop talking to the fans because they get sick of these stupid messages?

Please, think twice before annoying them with some stupid and inmature message.

People are going to ask what they're going to ask. Did they come to you specifically and make you the appointed content messenger so they wouldn't be "bothered"? Get a life dude. Stop worrying about what other people do and worry about yourself. Fan questions, no matter how inane, are not going to drive band members crazy and be jerks nor will it delay the album.

  5. Well, I know this topic is a bit lame, I never start a topic, but since I've been a Gn'R fan, all I hear and read about Axl is: he's an arsehole, he should go to prison for live and give all the bands' rights to Slash, he's the reason why one of the biggest R&R bands split up. I didn't really care at the beginning (i've just enjoyed the music), but it started to piss me off lately. I mean, he may not be the nicest guy on earth but you can't deny that he's as talented as a singer as Slash is with his guitar. It's always Axl vs. Slash and usually the credits go to Slash. I shouldn't care, people have different opinions, but everytime I read a review about a concert of this tour, I read what is more a comparison of old guns - new guns. For example (it's an article about the Download festival in the "Play" magazine):

"Which leads me nicely to the latest incarnation of Guns N' Roses. It all starts so well, on stage early and the one-two-three punch of 'Welcome to the Jungle', 'It's so easy' and 'Mr. Brownstone', but it soon becomes apparent that this show will be molested into farce. Half an hour in, Axl throws a wobbler, storming off sighting technical difficulties, whilst cries of 'We want Slash' ring out as A N Other engages in a guitar solo so boring that a trip to the portaloo with your Sunday papers is preferable to watching this impostor(!) arpeggiate his way to the rock hall of shame. Christina Aguilera? C'mon mate, you are at Donington and you are taking the piss. Eventually Axl returns, some guy that plays the bass and is not Duff threatens to go home if he gets hit with another bottle and with a positively lunar atmosphere the band play on. Even the introduction of Izzy Stradlin and the motor-mouthed Seb Bach latterly in the set fail to recapture the magic. A finale of 'Paradise City' lifts morale on the trudge back to the campsite, but after three days of exemplary metal it is clear how out of touch Axl has become."

It's obviously one fuckhead playing intelligent, this article isn't objective at all, but I've just read another one from my country, it isn't much better, they see Gn'R as a joke, something like Axl Rose & support band. When will this shit stop? I don't know if after releasing the CD and touring things will be better. I mean, there are, of course, positive reviews, but compared to this crap, it doesn't even count. No, I don't give a shit about the media & press, I know they've always presented Axl as the "badass rock n' roller" BUT then I read on other Gn'R or Music forums the same crap. People DO believe Axl is a motherf***er who should leave the band. It makes me laugh sometimes; other times it makes me wonder: what did this guy do to them? They hate him more than the 9/11 terrorists.

I just wanted to know what you people think about this.

Stories about how nice Axl is (or how nice rockstars are in general) don't sell as much as stories (either made up or not) as the asshole stories. Pretty easy to figure out really.

  6. I don't post and start topics much(and maybe it should stay that way), but I was pondering something. If Axl left the band because of sickness, death, classic GNR reunion, w/e...would the members in the band right now find a replacement and go under a name not called Guns &(N) Roses. Are the OTHER members close enough to find a replacement and continue trying to be a band except under a different name? Sure it would be hard because Axl would control the rights to the new songs, old songs and all the other stuff; BUT if the rest of this band is close, then I wouldn't be suprised if they tried. But FOrtus and ROn Thal have to be close, Robin and Tommy have to feel like friends, and not just members of G&R.

This question actually raises the topic of: Is the rest of the band close to eachother, and not just Axl? Because in my opinion, the band isn't truly a great band until everyone becomes close with everyone else. The old Guns was that way because they came up from nothing to be something. The new band could be close because of trying to be accepted by rock fans as the current GNR.

I don't know, from what we have seen so far I would say that they might actually try if Axl left and find a replacement to be lead singer....but many have asked about the closeness of this band and whether or not they are "hired".

    I don't know.....what yall think?

    Leave to do what?

  7. Do you think Dylan, the quasi-son of Axl and Stephanie Seymour, will go see any of Axl's new tour? That would be cool.

I like to imagine that he would, and that word would get to Axl on stage and then Axl would launch into a rousing version of Estranged. It'd be the first time we'd hear the new band play it. Can you imagine how much better it will sound with extra keyboards?

It would be sweet if Dylan was so moved that he went up on stage and had a reunion with Axl. He could also see Beta again for the first time in years. Hell, he could maybe strap on an axe of his own and join Finck, Fortus, Bumblefoot and Izzy. It'd be sweet if they could get Baz out to join them too. Could you imagine FIVE GUITARS and TWO LEAD SINGERS on one freakin' song? It'd be a night to remember.

Then the next question: what would they play?

I'm voting for Don't Cry or One In A Million.

Wow dude, you need a hobby. WAY too much thought put into this fantasy you came up with

  8. What? Just look at any of the recent pics of Axl.... he's clearly coked out of his mind... Also Axl took a joint from someone in the crowd at the acoustic gig and smoked it...

That's really not fair to say. That's like just walking by someone on the street and saying, "they have AIDS." I don't think Axl is using cocaine nor would he nowadays.

Being a drug user and having AIDS are in two different catergories. If you don't think Axl is doing coke you are in denial.

How do you know if he is?

  9. Sorry if this has been posted already guys.

Former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach sang lead vocals for the last two songs ("Night Train" and "Paradise City") of GUNS N' ROSES' set at the Wembley Arena in London, England on Sunday (July 30) after singer Axl Rose was taken ill and was unable to finish the show. The band performed an abbreviated set which reportedly featured no new songs, a departure from the rest of the tour where several "Chinese Democracy" numbers were regularly aired at every performance.

In other news, GUNS N' ROSES played a special acoustic gig late Saturday/early Sunday at a small London club called Cuckoo, featuring a crowd made up in part of audience members from GUNS N' ROSES first Wembley Arena performance on Saturday (July 29) who had their names read out by Axl during the show. The acoustic gig reportedly started at 4:00 a.m. and finished at about 5:30 a.m.

The July 30 Wembley concert was the final show of GUNS N' ROSES' lengthy European tour, which kicked off May 25 in Madrid, Spain.

GUNS N' ROSES will headline KROQ's Inland Invasion 2006 on September 23 at the Hyundai Pavillion at Glen Helen in Devore, California. Additional U.S. dates are expected in the fall.

Rose has been saying that the band's long-delayed new album, "Chinese Democracy", will be out later this year.

  10. I just checked out gnronline.com.

    Exciting news!

It seems that GNR will have a world tour in 2002! I bet the album will come out sometime around then! THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER!

    HOLY SHIT! :)
