  1. Actually, Ben Wener reviewed Velvet Revolver's last concert. I posted it here.

He praised the band, but also had some valid criticism, imo.

I like his stuff. Shares a lot of my opinions - so I can only assume he's also very smart and devilishly good looking.

That is exactly why he is an absolute SHIT journalist. As a journalist it is not your job to present your fucking opinion, it is your job to present an un-biast fair and even presentation about whatever it is your covering. If you share the same opinions as him, wooptee fuck, get together and rub his nuts for him as well, maybe he'll give his opinion and say in his opinion your good looking. When in reality your a simply conieded.

He was hired to post a review of a concert and he did. He didn't like the show, oh well. It happens. Not EVERY reviewer will dig ANY band's show. It's a bad review but it won't make me lose any sleep or anything. I could care less

  2. CD ids coming :P

:scared: ORRRRR 2001/2002 all over again...... bad joke eh....?

maby they just want to promote the new tour better by doing this....

In 2002 Axl said "I don't think soon is the word"

In 2006 Axl said "it will definately be out this year"

So this year should be more promising

In 1996 Axl said "THERE **WILL BE A NEW ALBUM NEXT SUMMER**" in his fax to MTV. If it comes out, it comes out

  3. when we look back on 3 years past of Gnr.

in 2004 Gnr management made an official anouncement that Gnr was going to perform at RIR IV.

what if buckethead never quit the band.

if Gnr dit play at RIR IV, would Cd be out, would we now be headbanging on new songs, and perhaps what about the seccond and third album.

what if gnr toured 2004/05, doing what they are doing this day!.

    I wonder.....

    any thoughts on this?

What does thinking about fictional situations have to do with any of the facts going on now?

  4. I was watching BET the other night and the rapper "The Game" was on promoting his album that comes out in mid-November. They also talked about another huge release, Jay-Z's new album hitting at the end of November. Now while most of you on here will blast rap, Jay-Z probably has more of a following now than Axl Rose, well, he easily does.

If all of these top artists are promoting end of November albums in mid-September, doesn't that give GNR just a few weeks to announce a release date or 2006 is out of the question? I know Axl keeps saying this year, this year, but when you look at the path other artists are taking, when you look at the promotion surrounding other major 2006 releases, it doesn't look good that we will see Chinese D this year.

Also, usually a single/video for a new album release is out at least a month before tha album streets. I just don't believe Axl has a plan for this thing. What do you guys think? We will get a release date soon?

    -Chris

The whole, "This year" thing is pretty irritating.

  5. So I'm in my local Stop & Shop and there is a display of cd's. I'm looking through and I find the Spaghetti Incident. No problem, I've seen it there before, besides I don't consider it a real GNR record because it was just covers.

I keep looking through and there is UYI2! I'm like you've got to be kidding me! So now I'm a little worked up. I keep looking and what do I see next. You guessed it AFD. And I says aloud in the store, "Youve got to be kidding me!" I probably looked nuts.

Why did i just tell you guys this? Well because it made me mad to see 2 great GnR cd's in a Stop & Shop, in a little box along with Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, and other music like that. It just really dissapointed me thats all. Thanks for listening to me vent.

man, you need more important things to think about

  6. Why is it titled 'Axl Rose Delays Record, Again ' He's been saying it's coming out this year for a while now... <_<

hell, I remember in that fax he sent to mtv 10 years ago, he said "there ***will be*** a new album next summer"

It'll be out when it's out

  7. Ok, I'm gonna ask a totally hypothetical situation here and it's with regard to people's inflated expectations for the new album. I asked the same question some time ago but thought I'd post again with so many new members on the forum.

It was a Zakk Wilde interview I read where he said he was really looking forward to CD like the next person, but he believes expectations are so high that even if the album is pretty good, people will ultimately be disappointed. Kinda like after hearing all the songs for the first time, people will be like "Is that it? Is that what we waited over a decade for? Its good, but it's not THAT good!" In other words, the myth and enigma of the album will be over, and people will realise that music is music, it ain't gonna be that different.

Ok, so imagine in '91 GNR only released UYI 1, and UYI 2 didn't exist at that moment in time. Now lets say CD is released now, and the content is exactly that of UYI 2, with Axl's vocals and the new band playing all the tunes. Would you be happy with that?? Would you listen to the album and think, "Whoa, thats incredible."

To an extent I kinda agree with what Zakk is saying, which is a real shame. I'm the first to admit, I fuckin love UYI 2, a great album, and the diversion from Appetite with songs like Civil War and Estranged was great. But if CD were this album i'd be disappointed. Kinda strange considering how much I love this album! (?). Point proven. .

My point is that most might be expecting an album of the quality that is next to impossible to achieve. I think that waiting and waiting and waiting for this album and the ongoing journey that has been Chinese Democracy might be a dis-service to Axl, coz anything less than mind-blowing will be unsatisfactory. And I think this has seriously affected Axl's decision not to release this album in recent times. He realises that this album more or less has to be the ' Sgt Pepper' of rock albums for it to be deemed a success. So would you be happy if it were UYI 2? Some may be, but I'm sure most really are expecting much more, possibly even far too much from CD.

(By the way, for the record I'm more than sure the album WILL be mind-blowing! My thoughts on this band seriously changed after seeing them twice this summer.....) rock2

    LA

Tough to really see what happens since the album isn't out.

  8. I propose that the arrival of Izzy Stradlin has/will delay the release of Chinese Democracy. AND, Izzy will return to writing with Axl and release a new joint album under the Guns N' Roses name.

I reject your proposal good sir!

  9. do you think Axl likes having Izzy and being back on stage with him like it was in the early years. i think he does coz Axl and Izzy were friends way before GNR and they work well. so do you think Axl enjoys having Izzy onstage with him?

    I

m sure Axl hates every minute of it. That damn no talent Izzy cramping his style on stage

    :)

    Merck

    i'm gonna say no!

i can't see why he's needed when Axl could do the job himself

i just don't think he's doing anything worthwhile for gnr

from what i hear there is little or no promotion for this US tour(which we've gotten no statement about)

and then his remark about not knowing the gnr site was updated and saying how he has noo intention of updating it pissed me off <_< especially when he knows the tremendously huge online fanbase gnr have

some contact with the fans is needed

i know Axl doesn't want alot said from inside the gnr camp but they're paying him for nothing!

he has done a good job on the european tour though but is it enough?

is there anything you'd like him to do, within reason?(we know he can't tell us too much)

do you think he has any control over Axl or does Axl tell him enough?

and i mods i would've started this in dust n bones but i'm not able to

    Maybe it's all Axl's plan?

  10. i know no one wants to hear anymore BS rumors, but this guy seems to have some credibility over at HTGTH...

    from RussianRoullette:

"Take this with a grain of salt, but I have a few "insider" contacts - one guy very close to a bandmember, another who told me a lot of stuff about the leaks that turned out to be true FAR before anyone else knew (he also had CITR first). Anyway, I got word today that there are rumblings from within that Axl is planning to make a special musical appearance on the VMAs. I know this has been a rumor for weeks now, but with these guys mentioning it I'd personally wager there's some truth to it - at least so far as that it's being considered. Axl is going to present an award, so he's definitely going to be there. My email described it as "round two."

Like I said, take it with a grain of salt. And don't call me names or post "I CALL BS" or whatever, I'm not a n00b, I know this kind of thread is usually bashed to death, but as I said, these guys were right in the past, so I have no reason to NOT believe them. I can't give you their names but I can tell you one of them told me the origins behind the initial leak of IRS and how it really got online, which I can verify since he has contact with the band."

no need to bash for this, just passin it along...

I serioulsy wouldn't doubt it. I wonder if he'll say "Round two!" at the end of the performance. At the show, he may likley announce the release date since that's pretty much what almost all the presenters do when they get on stage anyway

  11. That is why it's been delaid for so long.

What's "delaid" mean? If you're going to make a point and be taken seriously, learn to spell.

I don't think he's scared of releasing it at all. I think it's being held up to hype it up. With more show dates being released in the fall, and Axl did say "fall/late fall", there's a lot more buzz on the album than there has ever been. Saying he's too scared to release it is IDIOTIC. No one works on something for 10 years and spends million on the production of it in order to keep it hidden.
