  1. Didn't the ~18 min version of November Rain also have something to do with Manny Charlton?
  2. So, if it was received better, do you think they wouldn't have worked on it further? Oh My God was pulled from a number of songs that were in progress and mixed last minutes, so, at the very least, it was a rush job.
  3. But that was just a demo. We know it has been worked on subsequent to that, both a reworked version (leaked) and a remix Axl talked about, and appeared on the 2008 CD2 list.
  4. I bet those songs, as they existed then, were incredible. The ideal versions would be the earliest versions with completed Axl vocals. Same goes for a lot of the Chinese material. How did you guess?
  5. It would be pretty cool if the 4 songs Marco worked on leaked, even in their instrumental form, we would get to hear the original guitars by the band at that time, and Marco's work. I bet they are cool enough, before Marco touched them as well.
  6. As someone wise here once said: "The real The General are the friends we made along the way." Let's all gather around, everyone. Group hug! (There's still hope for more leaks of the Buckethead and/or Robin mixes of these songs)
  7. Imagine how much worse this would be if we didn’t know what we thought was The General was actually Soul Monster.
  8. They need to stop sending these songs to Helen Keller to mix. I just listened to the high-res FLAC on headphones. I could hear the clipping, even on cheaper headphones. Sounds like the guitars are super heavy on one channel. They overdid it with the vocal processing too. I bet a rough mix from 2008 would be many time better, in all aspects. Overall, slightly clearer than the leak, but the mix is worse, how can it be? They have fallen from their grace with me now.
  9. Soul Monster still brings up Guns for me in the US!
  10. In Bach's defense, he probably heard a significantly better version with Buckethead and/or Robin, and I'm sure the mixing was fantastic too. Same with his description of Sorry, what he heard was probably similar to the Village version, with Axl vocals. What I would give to have a studio rip of everything Axl played for him in New York in 2007...
  11. I purchased the high-res version. Have not listened to it yet though. (Work intrudes) Got the shipping notice (US) of the Perhaps vinyl. Anyone get their Japanese Perhaps CD single yet? I was scared to order it yesterday because it was December 7!
  12. I know. They can’t leave most of Bucket or Robin but no name guitarist is ok. 😂
  13. Why wasn’t Brain credited on Hard Skool like he was on Perhaps and Absurd? Also, I wouldn’t take her website as gospel. Maybe she heard a better mix that did have Brain on it. She worked with the band before NITL after all. Could be pillow talk for all we know when we’re talking about Brain and Melissa.
  14. Monsters is believed to be Soul Monster, which was heard at the 2010 Vienna after-party loaded with members of the band and random hot bitches, and some fans, that song was mistakenly thought to be The General. The General and Soul Monster (Monsters, most likely) are two separate songs. Why they were registered as one, that's a good question, but they clearly are not based on the officially released The General, and the live performances.
  15. I hope so too. Zodiac sounds too amazing to never had gotten a proper vocal take. I wonder if Me & My Elvis could be Seven? It’s the best instrumental IMO from the Village stuff.
  16. Axl in 2014 said the second part of Chinese was already recorded, and that they have worked on some of that, and written new things. We can expect 12-14 songs for CD2, based on the first album and other Guns albums. 1. Hard Skool 2. Absurd 3. Perhaps 4. The General 5. Monsters 6. Atlas Shrugged 7. Going Down 8. Oh My God So that leaves 4+ other songs. Could be Nothing, Eye On You, State Of Grace, Berlin, Seven, Tonto, Cuban Skies, Monstrocity, Quick Song, Seven, Thyme/P.R.L. and Zodiac 13 and perhaps others, and also some of these may be the same songs with different names. If I were a betting man, not counting remixes, and not counting the 5 NITL re-worked songs (if you count Monsters), I believe they still have a dozen or so completed songs with vocals we have yet to hear officially. So, not too far off from your assessment. I'm just a bit more optimistic.
  17. I'm going to buy this shit on Qobuz when it's available in high-res if it's available.
