I wonder if Slash and Duff picked the song without guitars and bass and then just write their parts on their own with no prior knowledge or if they actually listen to the fully formed version with Tommy, Robin, Bucket etc.

If I had to bet one coin, I'd say they start by listening to the previous version with guitars and bass still there, so they can get a rough grasp of what the initial idea was, then they work on the bare bones version and do their own thing. It would be indeed VERY nice to hear them talk about this process more in-depth than the usual "Axl had these songs that he wanted to get out, so we went in and recorded on them".

I think Axl like them because like their music, I remember a video of him AND His friend Dave Lank  seeing Mother Love Bone

Really? MLB are one of my fave bands and I never knew Axl happened to see them live. They played at least once in LA with Dogs D'Amour in '89, I assume that's when Axl saw them. I'll see if I can find the video you mentioned, but if anyone has more info about this I'll be more than happy to hear.

EDIT: found the video, posting it here.

Thanks!! Just re-read it and I remembered some parts of it. I guess I read it years ago and forgot about it. Very interesting reading to go back to

The guy who leaked the 9 songs in 2008 has a nice three page article on his AntiQuiet site, and on one of those pages he says during that time, others reached out who had stuff he didn't, he said there were about ten other tracks that were out there. He doesn't recall who or specifics, but he was played bits and said some of it was really good. Of those ten or so tracks, I'm sure some of it still hasn't leaked or wasn't on the 2008 album.

Do you have a link? I quickly googled and couldn't find it. Sounds super interesting and I don't remember reading it.

There have been many vids of him meeting people in day time pre shows though when NOT tired....they could ask then....I'm just surprised nobody has, that's all....

There was that girl, can't remember where, who met him and asked about Hardskool. He allegedly played the song on his phone and said it was going to be released soon. I think it was in 2021 not long before HS was actually released.

Even a song like Silkworms has an absurd history. Played in 01, a clip leaks post-CD, and then we didn't hear a proper studio demo until the Village sessions (right? I was out of the loop 2010-16.) If it was out there that whole time, you'd of thought we'd of heard it.

Actually, before the Village leaks in 2019, a Silkworms demo with Bumblefoot on guitar had leaked. That was in 2017 if I remember correctly.

It could well be. I still don’t understand (and correct me if I’m wrong) why people claim the clip from that fashion show is the general.

Because the song from the fashion show seems to include that orchestral bit used by GNR as concert intro, which was confirmed by their Twitter account (or by Fernando on Twitter, can't remember) to be from The General.

I have always been under the impression that the The General played before CD shows was the instrumental of the entire song and not just an intro for it.

As far as we can figure out from the phone recording, they simply lifted the orchestration from one part of the song and used it as a concert intro. It's most likely not the actual intro from The General, just one part from the song.

It had not happened to me yet, but now, in Italy, The General brings me to GnR and Perhaps in the top results among artists and albums.

I know the release is official by now, but being on Spotify I was wondering if it wasn't a confirmation that it will also be available for streaming on the various platforms.

True, it's the same for me in Italy too. For what it's worth, Perhaps never returned any GNR results for me until about 10-15 days before the official release. The General, until a few days ago, wouldn't return any GNR results either. Now it gives me GNR as the first result in artists and Perhaps as the second result in songs.

Theory: The timing for releasing more reworked songs will depend on whether the plan - or at least Slash's wish - to start working on new music after the tour, according to what Slash and Tom Mayhue said, materializes (read: on whether Axl is willing or feels ready for it).

So, if by some miracle the band starts working on brand new music, the rest of the rehashed CD era songs might be released "soon". If not, they will be held for 2024 or, more likely, 2025.

If theory is true, Atlas might be followed by a whole album collecting the already released singles plus whatever is left. Long shot, I know 😅
