Yep. The lack of credit could basically mean two things: either the only part Pitman wrote was the intro they removed from the released version or that when Pitman was fired Axl "bought him out", as in paying him a flat fee in exchange for the songwriting rights to his unreleased songs.

Aien has recorded both Atlas and SOG as far as I remember. I guess to prove/disprove this you would have to search some other unreleased GNR songs recorded by Aien and see if all of them gives GNR in the results or just those three.

No, they dropped it for a number of shows in 2010. I saw them in Italy twice that year and Better was not played at both shows. I was bummed as it's one of my fave gnr songs. It returned to the setlist a couple of weeks later or so if I remember correctly.

If that mystery song is Heartbreak Hotel, sounds to me like the rhythm pattern was reworked to some extent, because I hear it different than how they used to play it.

Whatever it is, those 15 seconds sound nice.
