  1. this is an intersesting release. I'll be checking out reviews online to see if they got it right (as right as they can get it of course)
  2. yeah how can you listen to River and call it generic or uninspired and there's good stuff on every Izzy record even if not every album is as accesible as Juju and River.
  3. the guitar is a piece of history and a fine instrument, but it's not worth 2 mill. not even close to 1, but I can see how maybe in the future the value would be closer to these high numbers.
  4. you don't get it. Izzy's influence in rooted in the chuck berry rock n' roll/bluesy thing and it's all there, the songs are there, the way Izzy paints a picture with his music it's all there, his slice of Gn'R is there as well. it's kinda like saying all the old blues records sounds the same, every chuck berry riff sounds the same, etc. it could take a while to get it cause it's not as polished as Gn'R or has any of the other band members, but the foundation is there and I think the music is great. Izzy already did his job in the studio, creating a wonderful catalog of 11 albums of quality shit imo, but it's old school stuff, it's not as hard rock or as modern as Slash, it's way more rootsy rock n' roll and that's not for everyone. Slash is more mainstream with riffs that grabs you and very unique leads and his big sound. Izzy is not that. edit: and it's not like there aren't cool Izzy riffs in his solo recrords that also grab you, but it's more of a Stonesy kind of a thing, more about the song and the vibe only Izzy can create. If you're not into that, and you just want the more Gn'R thing when Izzy was a part of a band in his younger days, you won't find that here where he's just doing his own thing, and has the freedom to just express himself in a more exact way.
  5. you're on fire today. I want an Axl and Beta cooking show with musical guests that help make the dish while they also sometimes drink during the show and Axl cracks a few jokes while Beta always laughs cause it's her job to do that, but it's super realistic.
  6. All people. if you create, that means you must release. no release? no create!
  7. have you heard Greeny doing the B.B. King cover "I've got a good mind to give up living"? there's a 4 minute solo there and nothing else even came close to sounding like that. a lesson in how to make a guitar cry.
  8. Kirk basically wants to have sex with it. it's adorable and he actually plays it live instead of it gathering dust. It's a beautiful thing even if you're not into Metallica. or even very good
  9. I like some of Kesha's music btw, just to be clear, I just think it wasn't a good match is all heh
  10. agreed. Dave did come up with some inspired shit for the Taylor celebration of life. A favorite of mine is Josh from Queens Of The Stone Age doing Bowie's Let's Dance, so it's not all Kesha, bless her slutty heart.
  11. Slash has an underrated ability to find a lot of variation in his sound and approach. Snakepit doesn't sound like VR which doesn't sound like SMKC, solo album, etc. imagine a hybrid of Chinese Democracy, some Contraband, with the energy of Let It Roll and American Man leads. with Fall To Pieces, Slither, and Sucker Train Blues it's clear that like Axl said, there was the ability to create another great Gn'R album without Izzy imho. Duff has also proved to be a gifted song writer at least to my ears.
  12. how will you be able to hear it if he doesn't get creative for himself first? and you don't know that he isn't creatively active anymore. he could be writing Eye On You part ll as we speak for all you know.
  13. you invite Kesha, there's going to be hooker rolling and floor humping. it is what it is.
  14. Axl only expressed interest in film score as a listener, and in the hypothetical case of Gn'R not being active anymore in any capacity or whatever. he never planned to do film scores as far as we know which would make it a very different thing. not releasing very much music doesn't mean Axl is not creative anymore I mean how could you possibly know how active he is when he's not talking about this shit? if you define being creative as writing and/or composing music, finishing it, and releasing it, then yes, but that is not the definition of being creative. Axl being creative could be him composing a new tune playing his piano for example, or coming up with lyrics and vocal melodies and capturing that in the studio. we have no idea about that shit. the quantity of tunes he released in the last 30 years doesn't prove anything in that regard.
  15. I wonder how difficult it is if at all for Axl to write lyrics nowdays and how interested he is if at all in writing lyrics. also, did he write any new lyrics and vocal melodies and completed any tunes, even from the Chinese era since the reunion in 2016. so many questions.
  16. my guess is that it's likely not a coincidence, it just made me wonder why a lot of people care about anniversaries, it seems instinctual, but in reality it's not important enough for me at least to define it as "icing on the cake". I guess it's the sense of symmetry that is appealing. anyway, great fuckin' show from my favorite era of the band. so raw.
  17. why is that the icing on the cake? maybe I just don't understand why others care about shit being exactly x years later or whatever. All it makes me think is "shit, 38 years is a long time for it to leak, but at least it leaked".
  18. while not a big deal, and more of a small detail, some people that are not you care about such things and imho it's valid and this is the place to express opinions like that. it's possible to bitch about the title and still enjoy the song.
