Prostitute I can see something like that for a CD1 and CD2. That way a lot of the more basic- structured songs are interspersed with the more complex stuff. What do you think, @Sweersa?
  2. Sorry, man, it is just how I view them and I am sticking with it. I am THRILLED we are getting these and am over the moon I saw The General premiere live, in person, I am not trying to complain, The locker leaks have an incredible record in them- if the instrumentals were finished, and we just don't know how many were. The General itself is a good example- it has a lot less parts than a song like Better, and even TWAT which we consider "epic". Anyways, 1. Zodiac 2. Hard Skool 3. Oklahoma 4. Perhaps 5. Absurd 6.Going Down 7. State of Grace 8. Tonto 9. Quick Song 10. Me and My Elvis 11. Atlas Shrugged 12. The General 13. Monsters Now, that is a pretty solid and heavy record if it came out in 2011 or so (despite Absurd), but we have no idea if a lot of those songs were even finished. In a vacuum, some of those follow a pretty basic and repetitive song- structure, though. I think Chinese could have been a double album, but I think it would have included these leaked/ released leftovers and the final album- tracks all intertwined with differing tracklistings and shorter discs than Chinese. Right now, we know Atlas was pretty much done, I'll include Oklahoma and State of Grace to be generous- that is 22 songs which is enough for a double release imo.
  3. I like the song, but I agree. For all the hype (our fault) and buildup, the song is essentially just 3 basic parts that repeat. Even the bridge is the same as the verse with different (albeit basic) lyrics. Same with Monsters, Hard Skool (the bridge is a bit different on that one but the lyrics are still pretty repetitive), and Absurd. Actually, a lot of the songs on Chinese went from simple to epic because of all of their layers but even quite a few of those had some cool song structures with instrumentals, intros and outros, leads, etc. All the leftover songs sound more like leftovers because they have a lot of repetition and basic parts. That doesn't make them bad songs, it is just the truth. I would be lying if I said The General delivered on all the hype, but I don't think anything really could have. When I first heard it, I was really disappointed- but the more I listened, the more I dig the chorus, drums, and bass and then the overall package. It could have used more cooking, ironically, but he had 16+ years to do that so I will take what we can get. Maybe it is Stockholm syndrome, but I do like the song for what it is quite a bit. It did really help that it leaked with Monsters, so they feel more like an "epic" when listened to back- to- back as two separate songs. I am taking these songs for what they are- leftover Chinese Democracy era songs that did not make the final cut of the record. If you look at them through that lens as opposed to a full, long- lost CD2 record, they are a lot more enjoyable. I really like HS, Perhaps, The General, and Monsters through that lens, actually. Absurd is like a guilty pleasure when I am by myself
  4. Well, something did happen- Axl ran out of gas lol. He wasn't even singing the chorus to Paradise City by the end. I feel like back- to- back nights are too much, now. It is okay, it was still a good time and The General debut made it a very special show. That is awesome you got Locomotive! I still haven't gotten that one. I got SoD in 2010,2011,2012 and Madagascar at all those shows + 2017. I saw them twice this tour including Boston. Fenway was a fucking BLAST. I loved that gig. The rain was insane, and it made Slither and Jungle extra special somehow. I thought Axl sounded a lot better that show than he did at the Hollywood Bowl. Funny enough, Fenway was "short" too because of the curfew. That is awesome you have seen them so many times and in '91! They are usually down half a step so idk how they would sound down tuned, but they could try it
  5. Easily the best tour since 2016, imo. Perhaps, The friggin' General, and deep cuts like Reckless Road, PtU, Anything Goes, Bad Obsession as relative staples. Plus they did Locomotive, Shadow, and TWAT a good amount. And it is not the most important thing, but Axl was also in pretty good shape this tour.
  6. I love marathon sets when the songs are fresh. If that means I get TWAT or Locomotive someday, I am all for keeping them. I actually caught a "super marathon" set in 2017 where they did around 3.5 hours. That is definitely too much for casuals, and even I was tired- but I got a ton of rarities (Some of which I'd only heard once out of 10 GNR gigs). I don't know how much they affect Axl's voice. I think it is just where he is at these days. I'd rather see Axl sing lower or songs down tuned than a shorter set. Then again, if a shorter set helps his voice, I am all for that. It is kinda funny, I was at the second Hollywood bowl show and it was considered a "short" GNR show- it was still every bit of 2.5 hours!
  7. A hiatus is earned. If they take 2024 off it isn't much of a big deal. I still don't see Axl hunkering down with the gang to write ~10 new songs for a new record, so what is the big deal if they take some time off? Barring COVID, they have been a consistent touring fixture for almost 8- years. They have played everywhere the market calls for multiple times across multiple world tours. They have a 2.5- 3- hour set with some deep cuts and "new" tracks dusted off. I know Axl's voice has been an issue, but overall, it has been an excellent era for the band. It is crazy that it has been closer to a decade since Slash and Duff rejoined. They have been on- time with essentially zero drama the entire run. I would have loved more of Steven and some Izzy, but I understand now why they went in the direction they did. The band has become a professional touring juggernaut that seems to straight up get along, on- stage and has at least mutual respect (at worst) for each other, off- stage. All things considered; the reunion has been extremely successful- probably one of the most successful reunion stories in rock history. Who would have thought that was going to happen in 2015? As much as I would love for them to write, it may not be that realistic. I don't know if Axl is interested in that. I hope they take some time to recharge, and that Axl works out some ways to help his vocals for when they come back. Maybe that means singing lower, more or further down tuning songs. Either would probably work. I also hope they release some more songs. We still have Monsters to officially come out after the Perhaps/General record. I would bet that comes out with hopefully a few more when they return. They might even do some shows in 2024, who knows? I definitely don't think this is the end, though. That is crazy to me, there is no incentive for them to stop. Morale seems high in the band, they all look great and have a lot of energy, and they are raking in the money.
  8. Wonder what’s going on with Melissa. She was at the Hollywood shows
  9. Yup I’ll take what I can get, and 2016- now has been solid. Reunion, killer voice in 2016, marathon sets in 2017, proshot leaks, the locker leaks, 4 new songs (soon to be 5 with Monsters), deep cuts in the set. For GNR standards, it beats 2009-2014
  10. Looking forward to another version of The General!
  11. I like the vocal effects on the studio version of The General. Thought the life version was great, too
  12. Fans all assumed Monsters was The General. Why? @Mindray11 heard an unknown song at the party in 2010 and recorded It. It circulated and Evader made a recreation and in 2018 both leaked. FANS all assumed it was The General because of the orchestra. Now that both are out we realize the orchestra intros were 2 different songs The General was always The General Soul Monster is probably Monsters
  13. Monsters was never The General. Everyone thought it was because of the orchestra The General is The General lol I have a lot of great memories from the 2010-2012 shows I saw, but man do I wish I could have seen the “true” Chinese lineup in 2002. I was too young Brain. Bucket. Robin. All incredible with Axl
  14. I’m cool with either version! Sounded good last night
  15. Re doing my rankings- 1. Monsters 2. The General 3. Hard Skool 4. Perhaps 5. Absurd The General really spot up Edit- The General is back to being towards the bottom
  16. I’m guessing the lame one. Got it at a shop for 45 bucks
