  1. It's not the best song on AFD, but it often gets treated like the worst. I don't get it. It's got a bit of a cheesy Heart vibe that the other songs don't have (save for My Michelle), but it's much better than Anything Goes, My Michelle and Out ta Get Me.

I thought you were having a go at my Man - Think About You, and I would have unleashed my fury and tongue like a razor on you, but you were referring to the song - so, umm, like carry-on!

  2. MSL, I think you are overstating the whole 'Slash and Duff' as replacement members angle. Wer'e not talking about Paul Huge here. Slash & Duff basically replaced nobodies. Took that 'band' that you refer to to new and dizzying heights and conquered the world with the aid of their individual and collective talent and charisma. So take your hand off it and talk sensible if you wish to earn back any respect around here.

Ha, there - posted it twice just for extra emphasis!

    :)

  4. I was trying to think of other vocalists that had

that scratchy / raspy vocals that we all loved in Axl. Couldn't really think of any. The only thing that came to mind was Brian Johnson with a song example being 'Thunderstruck' .

Can anyone else think of someone comparable?

A singer and an example of a song they sing ???

Are you that young? Or just think axl's thw only singer that has a raspy voice cause off the top of my head I have brian jonson-ac/dc, jeff keith-tesla, mellisa etheridge, janis joplin

Am I that young? I wish ! The first time I saw Guns N Roses live was over twenty years ago - so no, I'm not that young. I just honestly cant think of too many singers that had Axl's kind of rasp. I still dont think that many singers people have posted here as examples actually have a raspy singing voice. They are just unique or low. Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell have cool low tones for example - but not raspy.

Anyway, I agree with Nosaj Thing - you are spot-on there dude! :)

  5. Queens of the Stone age are very good in my opinion. Going to see them in a few months here in Brisbane with N.I.N.

I had hoped that the introduction of games such as Guitar Hero would spawn a new generation of rock - loving kids, but I don't think it has.

There needs to be a new band that are born out of the gutter. Someone real and troubled and desperate. Much like GnR and the Seattle Bands.

A group that is talented but has genuine substance and hunger.

  6. Interesting stuff and thanks for sharing your experiences MSL and Swerl, but really who else apart from hardcore GnR board lurkers give a fuck?

Such as waste of resources from the FBI - what a fucking joke. Axl needs to release music more regularly or get back with Slash. Then people in the outside world will care.

This leaking business doesn't hurt sales. Axl doing no promotion is the most damaging to sales. Axl releasing new music every couple of decades hurts sales.

The whole importance of leaks is tremendously overstated. It's cool for the GnR fanatics to hear leaks but thats about it...

  7. Hahaha was Axl unique and the only singer to have a raspy voice..........

    Yeah I know - I was drunk and 1hr from 2014 when I wrote it. :)

I was hoping to find some leads on other singers that have a voice like Axl so I could explore some new artists and get their music. I think some of the singers people have posted about do have a raspy singing voice but some I'm not so sure of?

I'm talking about that real gravel in their throat as they sing voice. Axl's was amazing and I was curious if there were any as good as his...

  9. Sydney's one is probably my favourite. Also was in the front row (hey Scott!!!) and was really getting into it.

Can't say the same for Knockin'...

G'day Mate! I agree with Knockin'... That song has always been a downer on a setlist in my opinion. Drags on too long and generally is a bit flat.

(Hope your'e well and have a great Christmas. :) )

  10. Killer setlists ! I'd maybe also include Double Talkin Jive (Love that outro), and maybe a few from AFD like Its so Easy, Nightrain and Rocket Queen for the finale. I'm sure some of those could have been adapted a little to perform accoustically. Axl's voice would have been awesome and right out front to be heard loud & clear!
