Izzy is cool as fuck, but I don’t believe he possessed a legitimate desire to tour for years on end. I seriously doubt the band low balled him for his participation. I’m certain he wasn’t offered his worth, per se, but we will never know because neither party is talking, which shows some mutual respect. I don’t believe Duff said fuck Izzy, either.
This. I would have loved to see the AFD5 do the reunion tour, and I believe that thousands of fans around the world would have loved that too. Sure, the majority of people don't know or wouldn't care and would still buy a ticket so they can go along, get drunk with friends, and sing along to the GnR hits that they know. Take a toilet break during Better etc... But, yes there would have been serious concerns and questions to whether both Izzy and Steven could have gone the distance, for different reasons and therefore the guys like Richard and Frank are much more reliable and don't add risk to a half a billion dollar tour arrangement. As sad as all that is.

Part of the "Not sure how to release it" carp is surely this IS the best era to be releasing an album. I can understand in 2012 bands unsure how to best release something with downloads being king. But we're back in the era of vinyl, cassettes and beautiful box sets are we Not!? If that doesn't suit an old skool (hardschool) rock n roll band then no time will ever suit them.
Agreed. If GnR released a new album (of new music) I would buy it on CD, and also Vinyl. And yes, Im in my 40's.
They could do it like Tool, and release the CD and overcharge for it. Like $80, and I would still buy the CD. Take my money Axl :-)

Just when Hardskool was rehearsed and put on the setlist in Mexico, which makes you think it would’ve probably been played at South America, then this COVID19 shit happened. Fuck this reality lmao it seems like life just don’t want us to win with this band
I know right, but as someone that has followed this band since the 1980's, Axl has been a shit magnet and no-end of crap has followed this band for decades.
I wish though they were a bit more resilient, and dedicated, and just went "fuck it, lets release Hardschool on itunes and thank our fans for all their support". Surely that can't be that hard to do ? Even in a once in a lifetime pandemic twighlight zone that we find ourselves in...

Me too, its either new music or shove that old music up your arse.

This is an acoustic demo.
Very cool mate! Vocals are the bomb! You need Brian May to do a solo on it though, then cut that solo out of it just before official release ;-0

Very cool of Grohl to do that! I can see Matt's POV actually. Being surrounded by people all the time that are elitist and want to put you down in a class not equal to their own, despite you being a part of the band. I can see why he would think "what im good enough to work hard alongside you all, but you want the spotlight always on yourselves only". I would feel the same.

GNR = MONEYGRAB
Hmmm, those plans have been f*cked in the melon (Bumblefoot reference).
Cash grab has been put on hold for a while now.

Huge news in gnr world - jimmy webb died - strangely there’s no thread about it on this page and every time I have tried to post a thread in the past it’s been deleted so I’m posting the info here.
Wouldn't say it is huge news... You know we've got so much other news/stuff to discuss like... ummm... arghh...
Geez, Jimmy Webb died!

Did you get a chance to hear any of those mate?

It is a shame that we cant have this book to read while we all sit around self-isolating and playing with our GnR trucks on our lounge room floors.

Seriously, the next thing they need to mention on their Instagram is some sort of update on their tour that starts in just over 6 weeks. Fans have spent a shitload of money on tickets, travel etc. The least that could be happening is some sort of update as to the status of those shows.
But that would make sense...

I agree. I think if not with gnr, he will do something with other musicians and keep recording.
I think you are right fellas... Slash is a creative beast and I don't think he likes to sit around doing nothing anyway. He seems to thrive being active, creative and then playing live. Also that old saying 'the devil finds work for idle hands', or whatever it is, means that some of these guys keep busy so they don't do bad and dumb shit..
And yes mate, I much prefered Jason Newstead in Metallica too. I also saw them in Brissy for the Black album tour! I think thats when Kyuss supported them? Good days :-)

I mostly agree although I think Hetfield is arguably better now than he has been for the majority of the 2000’s. I mean, not 80’s-93 level but fairly strong. Whether that’s a byproduct of falling off the wagon is a curious question (ie - was he ignoring voice preservation techniques and just letting rip)?
Lars is Lars - yes he has simplified which does detract a bit.
As you say, depressing these guys are all towards the end of the careers although I’d think we will still get material from MetallicA for a while yet. GNR........?
Definitely think we'll hear more new music from Metallica in the future, they obviously love what they do and enjoy creating riffs, songs, new music and still do it well. They really make a mockery out of bands like GnR and Axl, unfortunately. Showing Guns up as just a business and nostalgia touring act, but if that is what Axl wants, then who are we to say that's wrong. Just incredibly frustrating for the real hardcore fans.

It also helps that Metallica sounds really good at their shows.
I disagree, James’ voice is blown and not like the Hetfield of old. Same with Axl. Doesn’t really worry me and I had tickets to see Metallica here in Australia last year before they cancelled. I was still excited, even though they aren’t as good as they were, James’ voice, Lars struggles on the drum kit, but it’s more about the overall experience and seeing music legends live in the flesh, one more time. Same as Axl & Slash. Very happy to see them live when I get the chance because they are coming to the very end of their careers.

That was such a fun day - I’m glad you twisted my arm into doing Detroit that year! I always love spinning records at your place. Also a great gig - it was fun to see the proper opening night of the NITL tour, and that’s still my favorite NITL show that I went to.
Thats so cool! Does that mean that you also got to see Alice in Chains in support? If so, how were they?

My old turntable finally crapped out, so I picked up an old JVC AL-F3 for a decent price today. So far I've spun Dirty Honey's debut EP, and Slave To The Grind. Sounds good.
I'm hoping to buy Slave to the Grind one day, great album...

I only got to listen to it once, front to back but I really liked what I heard. I need to listen again and really give it a better assessment.
I don't know much about the RP1 but I have a friend who has the RP2 and he loves it.
Ok cool, thanks mate. Yeah it often takes more than one listen to gauge something properly 👍🏻

So 8D is just tracks panned in a circular motion? I guess if someone wrote a song and incorporated the idea it could be good, but besides that not sure it's for me. Probably better for all the psychedelics fans
Sounds like Mushrooms would be needed for that listening experience 🤪

I recently flew from Brisbane to Melbourne to see Tool live (they were incredible) and bought a bunch of records at a great shop in Melbourne. Unfortunately though, the one I was most excited about getting home to listen to was the Guns N’ Roses Transmissions, rare radio and tv broadcasts. Has Jungle, Patience, DOTF, CW, LALD, and the one I was most keen on - Free Fallin’. But the sound quality is terrible. So quiet, muddy and dull. So disappointing. I’m not about to do the 1000 miles trip to take it back though 😁

I was thinking about leaving my AudioTechnica set up with speakers, in my bedroom, and setting something else up downstairs in the living room. A guy near where I live is selling a Rega RP-1 turntable for $200 (AU). Is this a quality turntable?

Listened to it yet?

Took me months to figure out what '4D' screenings were at cinemas. Turns out it was just water being fired at your face and the seat shaking when you watched an awful film.
Yeah, you don’t want to go into an adult cinema to watch a 4D porn film then... 💦

I agree, but we've always had a great appetite for Guns N' Roses here in Australia. (Pardon the pun)
I even heard 'Better' on the radio the other day. Triple M 'Hard and Heavy' played it. It was a pleasant surprise.
