  1. He probably did that STP reunion fishing because the Libertad tour wasn't a huge success because the album went by unnoticed because they couldn't get a cohesive vision for the album because the band were at odds with Scott and Brenden O'brien because there just wasn't much chemistry there to begin with!@ I love Contraband and I loved seeing VR but we were lucky they had the success they did and it's never happening again.

  2. Guitar wise I find stuff to like in almost every UYI song there is :).

It's been said a million times but it's the production that kills most of the "shitty" songs.

Playing Garden of Eden on guitar made me love that song.

  3. I bet Layne was vocally inspired by Axl.

It was originaly Alice n' Chains.

Also, I think Eddie sounds legit doing it. It's really suited to his voice.... it's all the post-grunge people who came after and aped it / exaggerated it that sucked... in my opinion :D. I love on Portlandia anytime they cut to a scene in Seattle they signal it by some faint "yarling" in the background.

  4. Hm, both Robert John and Katarina Benzova need to go easy on the HDR, that would've been a much better photo otherwise.

I agree. I don't know anything about photography and don't know what HDR is, but they don't even look real to me, especially Slash. If it was more natural, it would have been an great photo.

You can see more examples of shitty HDR here: http://www.reddit.com/r/shittyhdr

Whenever I think of shitty HDR, I think of that awful DJ photo:

    MY EYES

What the fuck is that?! God doesn't give with both hands is defined by Guns N' Roses.

  5. Wow thanks for posting that. Imagine after 10 years that producer coming in and saying you have 3 songs... 2 and a half.... after 8 years of work. And he was fucking right!

I still think he had major vocal issues in the 90's, especially after that Moby comment about defensiveness, and it fucked with his creativity and confidence.

And that Paul Huge guy... I guess Axl wanted someone he could be close with and unguarded around in the band to replace Izzy but that guy sounds like a butt.

"Slash came back for some writing down at the studio, totally negative and belligerent, quits the ****ing band ..." -Chris Pitman. Probably because you're ass was there with 50 pro tools machines chasing a new sound from inside Axl's ass.

    ... this fucking band....

  6. Not sure how anyone can pretend like Watch This isn't phenomenal playing. Slither is fantastic.

I personally strongly dislike SBQM but the isolated track is pretty cool. I'm a vocal critic of post-VR Slash, but acting like this is some sad display of squandered talent is pretty melodramatic. I mean his self-titled is widely considered his weakest album.

Honestly age as an excuse for being out of shape isn't really valid. Injury aside people get fat as they age 'cause they stop giving a fuck and slow down. If that's what you wanna do that's cool man but don't try to coast along as an entertainer. Iggy Pop has 15 years on Axl. Steven Tyler....

And Axl doesn't need a god damn stylist he was writing the book on style until the end of the UYI tour.... he needs to stop following trends. I mean, that is, if he wants to really be an entertaining figure who can command an audience. If he just wants to be a guy who people don't judge and wants to relax that's cool man but otherwise you gotta put the fucking time in!

  8. Yeah I don't think they should have not released 'em at all.... just maybe as freebies or deluxe additions... I dunno.

I just read a review that said:

"Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators is quite a mouthful for a band and World on Fire is quite a handful for an album. World on Fire stretches on and on, weighing in at 17 tracks, which is just one song longer than Use Your Illusion I, but where that record gained momentum (not to mention identity) through its mess, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators gives the impression that they continue recording because they simply don't know when they're done. Perhaps a good edit or two would've turned the record into something leaner."

I just don't want it to turn people off the album.

  9. After listening to Fortress by Alter Bridge, WOF seems a bit desperate to fit in. Slash has done a lot of good stuff but he's yet to find his true voice outside of GNR. There's definitely a core but the soul is coming from other places, like Scott or Myles. But yeah you listen to Fortress and it's not confusing, like what is this? it just makes sense. WOF is a bit odd, but still cool.

The "like what is this?" thing is caused by the way this album was constructed. You know... Slash sending out ideas to Myles and how the whole band bends to fit Slash's influences and ideas. His guitar is the lead singer. Myles is trying to be himself when he can.

I just started listening to Fortress as a non-AB guy and it sounds super cohesive and pretty damn awesome. I kinda wrote off Mark Tremonti due to Creed but wow... Cry of Achilles is fucking cool! And that sort of soaring vocal style is really where Myles shines.
