  1. Yeah I wish Myles always had a guitar in his hand.

He's not physical or a dancer or sexual or anything a great frontman is haha.... but with a guitar he'd get closer.

I feel like he's Slash's ideal "shut up and sing" frontman, though. No drama, his voice is always on point, never really makes waves. That's why, especially after hearing his Eddie Trunk interview, I doubt we'll hear much non-conspirators Slash material for at least 5 years. VR is never finding a singer and I doubt AB or The Conspirators will get big enough to change the status quo.

  2. Yeah his Vancouver show sold out months in advance -- I missed out. On Eddie Trunk he said this tour isn't actually the main tour, though... he said it's a mini bonus tour because management sprung Aerosmith on him prior to touring in the fall and new year.

I wonder if that means he'll come back around.

  3. I watched some vids from the 08 Rockplast gig... They were tight as shit then.. Scott was the weak link, but I admit, they has some killer tunes... I am not sure Dave and Slash's playing chemistry... Slash and Dave like each other but I am sure if they play guitar well together..

I think Dave is a lead guitarist at heart. Like he said above, Dave wrote Get Out the Door and I remember reading in an interview he thought it would be nice if Slash "let him" play the solo.

  4. I also got many looks during the set because I yelled "Axl, Axl, Axl" after each guns song that was played.

Haha... how obnoxious. I bet they were staring at you in solidarity :D.

I will say I don't think Myles is a stadium level frontman. I was saying in the WOF thread I think his confidence and general persona is a lot stronger with a guitar in hand.

Replace Mark wankfest Tremonti with fucking Slash and I'm front row.

  5. There is some decent rhythm playing on WOF.... Lets not over think this...

Can you even tell the difference? Not between thinking and overthinking, just...decent rhythm guitar playing and shitty rhythm guitar playing. Can you offer examples of good rhythm playing from WOF?

Lots of power chords from Slash.... I think rhythm is killing time between leads for him :). Learning Izzy parts on AFD is so fun... lots of vocal melodie guitar lines and unique chords and strumming patterns.... ahhh Izzy

    We need an Izzy emote.

  6. As much as I would love him to release something that's been laboured over a little more... I don't think it's in his nature. Everything you read from him shows that when he's not on tour he gets antsy and bored and starts doing drugs and other shit haha.

And I don't want to come off as a lyric snob... The Dissident just struck me as particularly funny :D... not just the lyrics but the subject matter contrasted with the lighthearted sounding party chorus.

I like Safari Inn more each time I hear it.

  7. Despite that sweet tone The Dissident is made worse by the fact that it may be one of the cheesiest anti-war songs I've ever heard lyrically haha. I only really paid attention to it this morning. You shouldn't do a cheesy sing along chorus about bombs falling... But at least love will survive.

    It's not Fortunate Son :).

  8. Do it for the Kids is fucking awesome! The solo in Dirty Little Thing? Shredalicious. Headspace... I love Slash on Contraband. In fact, Contraband is modern rock in a way that World on Fire could have stood to learn from. The leads aren't as in the spotlight but... I'd put Contraband above a lot... and Libertad has some rad moments... American Man... Spay... Just Sixteen. In fact I think I kind of hate the self-titled now that I think about it. Although Watch This is almost better than Libertad in its entirety.

    AFD

    UYI1

    UYI 2

    WOF

    Contraband

    5'oc

    AL

ALG (How good is Shine? I love that fucking riff)

    Libertad

    Slash

It's not really Apocolyptic Love vs It's 5o'clock Somewhere, it's Anastasia vs. haha... and it's neck and neck.

  9. I agree with Rovim in the sense that I find a lot of the chorses and pre-choruses to pretty "obvious." Like... you know exactly how it's gonna play out. Same kind of descending ascending power chord stuff used in a lot of them kind of speaks to not enough time in the oven, so to speak. That said, more time might not have made it any better. Instead, a more collaborative songwriting team would have probably infused the songs with more variety in a similar time-span. Not that it's as easy as it may sound.

Aka a really long-winded way of saying I would kill for him and Izzy to be joined at the hip, haha.

  10. I don't think Cornell would be interested nor really jive with sunset strip rock/metal.

He's a master of sludge, downtempo stuff and ballads... even Audioslave was a stretch. He's not a good frontman either without a guitar.

Does anyone else think Myles should be rhythm guitar full on and sing when they do live shows ? Not just that but get him turned up in the mix (Slash you're still the main attraction). It would make his whole persona seem less forced. I know it might be tough but it'd be sick to see him and Slash trading riffs and solos like he does with Mark Tremonti. I think it'd project a more confident and badass air to the whole enterprise. These are serious musicians, man! Maybe it's just me. Slash is way more interesting when he's playing off another guitar IMO.

  11. Since Slash really blew the single for Anastasia and didn't promote it and chose bad singles, what should he select from WOF as his first real single?? And have a kick ass music video.. Wicked Stone?!!?!?!?!

My guess, for what its worth, is Wicked Stone is the only thing that'd get any traction.

Maybe 30 YTL or Wicked Delialah. It's gotta have a memorable riff.

  12. I really like Garden of Eden haha.... at first I thought it was gimmicky but then I played it on guitar and really got into that metallic ass riff. I still hate the SFX that Axl shoved in there but its a cool song. It would have been awesome live with them all singing the chorus and it being less produced.

And I didn't really like Perfect Crime until I saw the clips from Philly and Indiana.

How amazing is that as an opening... I love that specific video because, although the quality is pretty shit, you hear the cavernous stadium and it feels huge. Axl is on fire... SMOKING baby.... I mean Indiana is cool energy wise but his voice was shot.

  13. I love Slash. I liked AL... but I'm on track 9 and I've only really enjoyed Wicked Stone.

I even like Myles as a guy and don't envy having to put vocal melodies and lyrics to 17 songs... but I don't forsee many repeat plays.

Beneath the Savage Sun.... ugh so boring haha... must not skip...
