This 100%. The real problem IMO is not comparing Slash to Bucket or Robin, but to compare with what he used to be before. And yes, his current tone plays a big whole with the impression of sounding lackluster.

His tone really isn't great these days.

Imagine that, endless ressources and money, the finest guitars a player could dream of and a history of having great live tone and you end up with this.

He probably doesn't care or his hearing is fucked or both.

What I love in all of this is how the band (mostly Axl) and TB are being absolutely hush on this. They (again mostly Axl) know exactly what this song means to the die hards and know how much chaos they’re causing by staying silent. They love it… I’m sure Axl is well aware of this and having a good chuckle at us 😅

For sure, he's having fun with shit like this. Can't blame him really :D

I absolutely love Ozzy's Patient No.9. It's one of my favourite albums of 2022. Hackney Diamond is also very solid, with very nice production, IMO. It would be amazing to have this level of production in the """"next GnR album"""" but IF we ever get a new album, and that's a big IF, I think we'll likely get someone like Fernando's producer friend or whatever

Why split the loot, good old 'Nando is gonna produce it HIMSELF!

This is my worry too, although I guess we won’t know any different since we’ve never heard the original.

If Buckethead played on this originally I think it’s safe to say whatever he played would have been far superior to what Slash has come up with though.

Imagine if we’d never heard the original TWAT and that beautiful bucket outro solo had been replaced by 2 minutes of Slash’s noodling, that really would have been a tragedy.

This is getting really stupid now XD

I finally got around to hearing Sweet Sound of Heaven, after hearing so much hype about it.

It's alright, but doesn't do much for me.

It's not the most complicated song; basically follows the same three same chords while Mick and Gaga sing long sustain notes.  Feels like this song has been written many times over.  It's rather light on song ideas and leans heavily on vocalists to carry the song.   Seems like they want to do another Gimme Shelter, but doesn't have the same punch.

It's not a bad song, but not one that I'd be in a rush to hear again.

Same here, it's a very "standard" tune. Bit boring, actually.

As for the album, depends how you look at it, I guess. With the "they're 80 years old" thing in mind, it's pretty good.

Need to listen to the whole thing a couple more times probably.

I think that will be a given based on Slash's performances playing CD solos live, and his playing on Hard Skool and Perhaps. I do like his solos on Absurd, compared to the leaked version with Buckethead and Bumblefoot. I'll give him that. He's capable!

This is getting really, really ridiculous now. It's Slash and Guns N' Roses after all.

I totally love Buckethead these days (Crime Slunk scene, Colma, Electric Sea, Electric Tears, 3 Foot Clearance are all brilliant albums) and Robin is great as well, but come on.
