“A song of anguish” - couldn’t have said it better myself.
Man, this is definitely QUITE a polarizing release. I, myself (and some others I’ve noticed) consider it some great quality GNR content, while others are absolutely appalled.
Goes to show ya, music is inherently subjective.
Nah, this release is pure shit. Everyone posting here is a harcore fan but please be honest to yourself.
This is the worst.

Listen to ANY song from Appetite to Spaghetti, including My World. And then listen to The General.
It's so fucking bad, it makes Absurd shine like a diamond.

This will be torn apart, I can't believe they put this out.
Axl must be on heavy drugs and Slash and Duff are worse than Gene Simmons. What the fuck happend. :/

Hahaha, the ending of this turd is great, it just stops, sounds like "ah, fuck this shit, this ain't no epic!"
What a turd of a song, amazing.

Ok, this is the official version now.
I think it fucking sucks, it's the worst officially released GnR song ever.
The ending especially sounds exactly like something Dustin Bones would do. The song is boring, weak and the vocals are ridiculous. The drums sound like utter shit. The whole production is shit. I'm 100% convinced Slash and Duff don't think that this is great music, they should be ashamed. Wow. This is the lowest lowpoint in GnR history, imo.

Mix is the same
At least these latest releases will finally end this "Axl is a perfectionist" nonsense.

Never liked Better all that much.
I really, really don't like the emo intro and the chorus sounds like something a student band would come up with.

IMO, the only way up is Marty.
But he don't vant to do eet.
Said something like, Dave won't pay him enough and Megadeth is not exactely the future.

The way everything played out with the "reunion", the release of those singles etc. it would have been best if Axl managed to keep Bucket & Robin (or get them back around 2010) and Slash did more different projects with different singers.

I don't believe most AC/DC fans are interested in hearing it, I don't think Angus would approach Axl again, and I don't think Axl can still do justice to the material.
I agree with everything.

Been a GN'R fan for 36 years, and I think "The General" is easily one of the ten worst songs the band has ever officially released. Seems like everyone's trying to polish a turd here, but that's what the song is: a turd.
Wasn't everyone kind of expecting something epic? Based on the urban legends of the song, it should have been something on a grand scale like Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir". Instead, we get a song that sounds distorted, with repetitive lyrics ( "don't know what to tell you now", over and over). We waited 25 years for THIS?
Just ditch the whole industrial rock/nu metal garbage, and go back to making rock and roll music.
You're not wrong...I listened to it a couple of times when it leaked and have no desire to listen again soon.
If only they would write NEW music like any other band.

The vocals ln Monsters are very Ozzy.

If the leaks are indeed the final versions...meh. Talk about minimum effort, again.

Musically, Sorry is a very solid track, lyrically .., well. But that's how I feel about quite a few CD era tracks, which is my right as a subjective pos. 😉
Yeah, musically it's kinda cool, Bucket is so good on this one.
The lyrics really ruin it for me, unfortunately. Just too much cringe to ignore. XD

It's all pretty lame and shitty if we're honest. All of these Chinese leftovers are smellling, smelling like shit, old shit. It's just shit. Fucking hell.

I don't think he would ever want to be part of this again.
That's what I was about to write, won't ever happen, imo.
I'd love to see it though.

Just before everyone kicks off - the leaks will be the final product. No changes to mixing or any guitar work
Would anybody be surprised?

They should really start writing new stuff with the current members since there clearly aren't any "big guns" left in Axl's vault.
At this point he's just feeding his ego by releasing these tracks with Slash and Duff overdubs. In a painfully slow manner.

I've been listening to the two new tracks for a few weeks now.
I sent it to a few of my friends (including one who just saw them in concert and appreciates CD) and their reaction was basically nothing...no comments...I'm sure they'll never want to listen to them again.
Even my interest is fading to the point where I'm not excited about the release anymore. The songs are OK but they don't inspire me in any way.
I then listened to the entire new album from the Rolling Stones and I have so much fun listening to it. I just play the whole album over and over again and love the music.
I then asked myself why am I not excited by the Five new tracks from one of my favorite bands and what are the Rolling Stones doing, in their 80s!, that GNR isn't doing?
Yes, these are comparable since early GNR was regarded as the new Stones.
I think the answer is passion...the new GNR tracks are lacking passion...they are lacking chatacter...they are just there..like a premanufactueed widget...nothing organic about them.
The Rolling Stones songs are full of passion, energy....they just feel alive and that resonates with the listener.
Perhaps has the most passion...Hard School SHOULD have more...Absurd is garbage ...Monsters is OK but bores itself and the General.should be more.
I Don't know, it feels like Monsters and the General could have been reworked to be ONE Illusion era epic song...but it wasn't!
I hope the new material has more passion and synergy a la what the Rolling Stones accomplished in a fraction of the time.
Have to agree, the latest leaks sound almost like AI generated "Gnr Chinese era with Slash" stuff. No real emotion and no love in the arrangements, more of a product than real music.

1. Hardskool
2. Absurd
3. Perhpaps
4. The General
5. The Seeker (live)
6. Slither (live)
7. Black Hole Sun (live)
8. I Wanna Be Your Dog (live)
That would be the most boring release possible at this point.

It sure gonna be interesting how this situation is being dealt with by Axl, Slash and Duff.
Is it even possible they didn't know about this since years?

Wow. Just wow.
The "New Album" Thread. Thanks to the long ass thread, I’m going home!

At this point they probably should just go away and release stuff from the 90s.
The General is pure garbage, unlistenable.
If this is the standard now, please don't ever release anything anymore.
