Well, when they released the Perhaps video there was only good vibes around here, I can't recall much complaining.
Because it was a good, solid release.

I like the song, but I like it better when Axl sings it.
Slash's "improvising" is an annoyance. Just play the damn solo as it's supposed to be played. It's part of the song. You want to improvise join a fucking jazz band or something.
You can hear he didn't bother practicing it, it's just the way he does things these days. Good enough for him, obviously.

I really don’t get the reaction of the forum.
most of us hated the song before the video came out and now are shitting on it, what did we expect for the video to save the song?
The general is the song I like the least among the new stuff, but I don’t hate it and although the video is cheap there are some cool elements like the members getting an avatar in the video which kind of gives me AFD cover vibe( please take this with a pinch of salt).
got a question, did we really won’t a very good video for a song they didn’t even bother mastering well?
Immagine having a song with the sound quality of a demo, the saddest cover art for the digital release and a majestic music video.So...it's better when EVERYTHING is shit?
You might have a point!
i'm afraid of the next release.

Live By The Sword was an immediate highlight for me when I first heard the album and still is. Great song, which would've sounded great on UYI1.
Yeah, it's a cool tune. I can hear the UYI interpretation in my head. Piano, some slide guitar, Axl using different voices...

I've discovered them as well a couple of weeks ago.
They said on the radio that Noel Gallagher (or was it Liam?) approved their stuff and I can see why, they sound like a modern Oasis at times.
The "Here's what you could have won" album is excellent.

I'd love to see Izzy sitting in front of his TV watching this.

Great job! Would love to see this make its way into the GNR set. Very cool.
With Todd singing? Otherwise, ehh...

This is fun. I love all the reactions to it.
Anyway, as far as storyline goes, yeah, there doesn't seem much, it is more about describing certain themes, although I wouldn't be surprised if we would keep on discussing specific details in decades to come. Similarly, I am not surprised the video doesn't go in detail about Axl's childhood - it could be difficult to handle this delicately and I don't think he really wants to go there, I think he would prefer a video that more hints than is graphical about what happened. Still, even this limited storyline is vastly preferably for me than the messy storylines in the Since I Don't Have You, Don't Cry and Estranged videos
As for my impression of the video: It is too much movement for an old guy like myself. Still, I really appreciate that Axl wanted a music video to this song, the band making the effort, going for a new style that is controversial, and clearly putting resources into it. But more than anything, I LOVE how the band manages to still not take the easy way out by simply making something that is crowd pleasing to the fans.
"The band making an effort"
Hahahah, they don't deserve fans like you.

It looks super cheap.
Clearly nobody in Guns N' Roses gives a fuck about Guns N' Roses anymore.
No quality control at all at this point.

I hate to be negative most of the time, really.
But again, this is just shit.
This music video makes sense in a way because it's just as annoying as the song itself.

That's right.
But maybe it's more than a bad video for The General.

A few years ago we'd have obsessed over this post loads and made all sorts of speculation.
Now we're just so used to it and jaded we all just write it off immediately as nothing......I think we're all learning!
That because there seems to be no more quality control with GnR.

Only in GNR world could that count as "something special".
Plus, the song is shit.

I like the song a lot, but definitely agree about how it ends...it just dies
It should have had a big ending, or just something better
We've almost 250 pages to a song that basically only 10 people like 🤣
I still think it's by far the worst song they put out, ever. I don't ever wanna hear it again. XD

If it's real...it sucks. I guess "new" GnR music is nothing to look forward to for me anymore.

I like Gn'Rs particular blend of influences and how they took some of the best elements of AC/DC, Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith, The Stones, The Sex Pistols, etc and made it totally their own and fresh sounding, especially with AFD.
I also like it about bands like Gn'R, that every band member can only really do his own thing as opposed to some musicians who just do most of the writing or all of it themselves. (which I also like, but it's more a vision of one person or at least less band members) I think that it left room for each classic Gn'R member to provide their ingredient to the musical blend and balancing one another's influences and approach thanks to their flawless musical chemistry.
in every classic Gn'R band member's solo catalog/new Gn'R/project that lack of balance is strogly felt imo in sound, approach, and taste that sometimes takes over the album and that's logical but in old Gn'R they often sounded like this one cohesive musical entity which had many interesting sides to it and that is part of the reason of how great it was imo.
Well said. I still wonder if Axl, Slash and Duff ever really realized this to this day.

Yeah, it's lower on my list too as far as what I'd like to hear that has yet to be released/leaked.
Light my fire can only be a disappointment, the Original is perfect and so is Morrison on this tune.
