Perhaps is the closest to UYI song. It's catchy, good but not great and classic sounding. The weakest part of the song is the second verse is the same as 1st verse. it sounds like half a song just doubled to full length, which seems lazy
It is lazy. After the solo, you've heard everything the song has to offer. :/

Anyone else really loving The General still?
Say what you like about this band, I've genuinely loved all four of the standalone singles they've put from ABSURD to The General.
Perhaps is ok.

Sometimes, I laugh at my 2016-self for thinking things would finally change and new music was a real possibility!

I'm not surprised at this collaboration given that "Bohemian Like You" has a very similar riff to "One in a Million"
That's a very generic chord progression, doesn't mean anything.

It's a cool tune, but I was hoping for a crazy Slash solo that didn't come. Still a fun song to listen to.
I like it a lot because the guitar work is very tasteful and cool, I very much prefer this approach to Slash's (live) noodling.

IMO, their worst songs are Absurd, My World (obviously), Riad N' The Bedouins, Bad Apples and Anything Goes. These are the songs I can't stand.
I have a very hard time accepting that ANYBODY prefers The General over Bad Apples and Anything Goes.
And all the other songs.

I saw AC/DC twice, first time on the Razors Edge tour (best concert of my life probably) and with Axl in Düsseldorf.
I'll pass now but I hope everything goes well and I'm sure it will still be great in a different way.

Worst song (original release) is The General, by far. Fact.

I see your point. Yeah I think a collection of these songs might get released in an album form, so HS, Absurd, Perhaps, General, maybe Atlas and Monsters, topped up with some live stuff.
Whether that's an album or not- I don't know. Some people don't think Lies is a proper album either so that's a matter of opinion.
I do think that the writing and recording of new material days of this band are done now though. Which I reckon is probably a more commonly held view than the idea that they'll write and record anything new at this stage.
If that's gonna be the "new album" I won't spend any money for that.

In the good old days we discussed Pearl Jam and Metallica in the New GnR album thread, times are a changing

While it is great to hear this played live because I love the instrumentals, listening to the full version, I'm not sure I'd say Todd really "sings" most of the song. Let's just say Axl would be criticized a lot if GNR did the song and Axl performed it like that.
That said, I'd love for GNR to incorporate it into the set with Duff on vocals and maybe Melissa doubling up on the high parts. It's a great song and sucks that they've never performed it live. It is 100% impossible for one vocalist to sing it like it is on the record. Nobody has enough breath to sing through the length required with no breaks to breathe.
What? If Axl could do it as good as Todd everybody would be more than happy.

CD wasn’t a masterpiece, you say? Get the fuck outta here!
Just playin.
I go back and forth, I think we are all so used to CD that something new or fresh from that era with all the anticipation sounds better.
Definately. If Riad wasn't on CD and leaked now, we all would praise it, especially after The General.

I guess it's pretty safe to say that we heard absolutely everything the Myles/ Slash combo has to offer, in every variation, multiple times.
Don't damn me is such a cool tune, nice it gets some attention from Slash. I miss his UYI tone on this one very much though, the solo sounds thin and like Dad Rock with his current sound.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if they'd use the exact same video AGAIN for Monsters?
Very cost effective too, they could sell it like "it's never done before and connects the two songs in a genius way" or something.

I still feel like Hard Skool is as good a comeback single as a modern- day GNR could muster. It ticks all the boxes- it is catchy, has a ton of Slash all over it, Axl screaming and rasp with a good chorus, and I even like the bell. No idea how Absurd was put out first. Either way, I was surprised Hard Skool didn't do anything. Monsters is my favorite song of the new ones, but I don't think it would make waves.
There best bet would be a true new song that they write together and push. Maybe then it could make a few commercials and be played on rock radio stations for 6- months. Sadly, that is where they are at but whatever
With Hardskool...it just sounds bad. The casual listener won't realize the bad production, the copy and paste stuff and all that in detail, but the released version just feels off and cold.

The solo is getting worse and worse…Im seeing Slash on February 9th and I’ll always love his playing, but this is just AWFUL
What? This one was pretty cool in my opinion, just different.

There's nothing more annoying than a guitarist just noodling. Shredding, it's horrid. It's the same thing when you try to get a band together, you always end up with these noodlers, y'know...When I first met him, yeah. Slash was a noodler, man. I think he still is. Like in Guns N' Roses he would noodle, but then the vocals would come back in and that would shut him up.
Izzy knew
The "New Album" Thread. Thanks to the long ass thread, I’m going home!

I'm totally of the opinion that this forum would absolutely praise ITW or Scraped if they were released NOW and were never heard before. Both songs are SO much better than The General.
