  1. To the people saying: yeah, but they say it's HUGE!

Have you ever heard any teaser saying: Yeah, it's nothing really, but please listen anyway.

Have you guys ever read headlines? They're usually far more exciting than the article is. Of course they're saying it's HUGE! That's what they do to get attention. I know GNR can take us by surprise sometimes, but don't expect a new song or new album and feel disappointed next week when it's the announcement of an LA show or a ticket give away.

I'm pretty sure it's brand new.

TW Classic posted it on their Facebook page on April 12. Not brand new. That was the first time I've seen it. I remember wondering if they'd put it together themselves.

Of course it's very selective. It's clear only Axl, Slash and Duff are in this reunion. If they would've included Steven and Izzy, I'm sure there would be backlash as well, with people saying 'they're in the video, people will expect them on the tour', as some people are really frustrated by their not being there, which I get. But it is what it is. No use crying about it. The whole CD era only got a footnote as well, that is because this video is about this tour, and this tour doesn't feature Izzy and Steven as band members.

    I like the video.

And some respect to War Pigs. Always thought that was a well done cover, especially an iconic song like that.

I only found out two years ago War Pigs was a cover

To me The Real Thing is their best album. I can't pick just one song, every one of those has been my favourite at some point in my life.

I don't think a guy like Axl would laugh of himself in that aspect. That's his very essence that he cannot avoid much. I don't think he's self-conscious of the way he comes across, in spite of making some self-deprecating things like NITL.

Besides, I knew the song was about a woman because of the line that talks about the dress from Halston, or something like that.

I would think he can laugh at himself. Naming the tour Not In This Lifetime proves that to me.

The song was about Bianca Jagger, apparently. He wrote it after a dinner with Mick and Bianca and imagined Mick singing this to Bianca.

No it isn't beacause he wasn't singing Salt of the Earth or Free Falling taking somone else's guestspot like he's taking Johnson's now. It was his own guestspot and he even chose a song that the Stones haven't played for years and they agreed to dig it up for him. And that when he was still just a beginner. That was a really cool thing. This, on the other hand, is a bit weird and creepy.

I disagree. I think this was a cool thing as well, and as far as I know, guest spots aren't exclusive for beginners. They did Big Shot as well, if you noticed. Still think you're trying to find negatives whenever it involves Axl and AC/DC. But of course you're entitled to your own opinion. I think the general feeling about this is positive.

Oh, where are those times when Axl would have his own guestspots and would sing on stage with anyone he wanted as Axl (and taking pride in it) and not as Brian Johnson's impersonator...

Really it's weird. Love the idea of guestspotting but I'd rather see him (with whoever it might be) celebrating his own achievements that brought him to that place instead of taking over Johnson's guest spots and friends.

Did he ever play a GNR song as a guest with another band? (No NuGNR 'jokes' please :)) Don't think so. So this is just like singing Salt of the Earth or Free Fallin. I'm happy Axl's finally doing that again after 25 years or so. I like to believe he's in a better place now than he has been in decades.

Billy Joel often covers HTH, apparently, so it makes sense to let Axl sing it this time. I have a feeling people are doing their best to make everything into a negative.

I have to defend maddog here. I know his posts can be a pain to some people. but he never insulted anyone, instead pointed out their false theories.

I fully agree with you. I believe that the kind of honesty he expresses is not allowed here...

I agree with you both. Very annoying he's been suspended :anger: I like his posts a lot, even if I don't always agree with him. It's nice to see someone with a different opinion, not just highfiveing posters. From what I've seen, he got a lot of things thrown at him too, often uncalled for, just by people who don't like him calling them out on their shit and who feel brave because they know certain posters will always back them up, no matter what. But whatever. I'm sure the mods have their reasons and the other derailers and/or people who threw insults at him have received warnings as well :)

That's Axl on the studio recording of the song... they incorrectly listed Izzy as the lead vocal in the liner notes.

Not in my booklet. There is no lead vocal listed. Izzy is lead and rhythm guitars, Axl's background vocals. No vocals listed.

Izzy's singing, Axl sings along in the chorus.

Yes, while I liked the idea it wasn't used enough for it to be worthwhile. I don't have access to it, all I'm allowed is to give warning points and permission to write salty PMs to those who deserve it.

No, that's true. Too bad you can't get to it. There were some pretty funny things there, iirc.

(Your mod superpowers are a bit underwhelming )

    MyPearlJam

    Did anyone screenshot that?

From my time here, MyPearlJam was the best, I agree.

@Gracii Guns Remember we had that special section for members during a short time, before Downzy took over? There was a thread in there like this one, I think it was called MYGNR Hall of Fame or something. I don't know if it's still accessible for you. I got acquainted with lots of other fun threads back then, like the sneakers at a wedding and Chris who'd eat his glove.

Day 5- this one is tough for me, because I'm always letting my Country Freak Flag fly in the country thread, and burned up plenty of good ones there. So, I'll go 80s chick song that I like. :shrugs:

That is a great song! Cyndi Lauper

  12. I like lots of your guilty pleasures. I would never call Get in the Ring a guilty pleasure though.

@bucketfoot I seem to have missed that song. It's Alright and Stay Another Day is all I seem to remember from East 17.

I think a good deal of songs I love listening to, would be deemed guilty pleasures, but I don't care. Sometimes a song can be just fun. Like this one:

    The video is hilarious too.
