DJ's guitar is clearly not tuned correctly.
Not saying that to defend him because I also have enough of his manoeurism, but it's clearly not his fault.
Give him an ultimatum or get rid of him.
Overall it was not as bad as people say it was. It was an OK performance from 2012-2014 Axl standards.
I think he should loose weight and get his throat treated. He sounds like he has mucus in his throath and sinuses, that sort of gives an helium/mickey voice.
It's not like it would require some supra-difficult efforts to be only 50% better.
As much as I dislike #ashbaswag, giving him the benefit of doubt as his guitar was clearly out of tune, maybe he should of just stopped right there though? I'm hearing Joan Jett had to restart a song?
Unfortunately it was as bad as people say it is, some people just have lower standards now.
Yeah, he should have stopped right away. It was immediately very clear that it was out of tune, even I could hear it. And believe me, that's saying a LOT!

AAAGGGHH there I am chanting at 7:11 & a close-up shot at 7:34!!! Hahahaha

If you've seen some of the footage of the SA shows, this was like that. I mean, we've only seen Axl last week. How different would some of you expect him to be ? I enjoyed the show, didn't see all of it, but I thought ISE and Better were good. The intro to SCOM was painful though, and I don't really like how Axl sings it nowadays. PC was as expected. I don't think this was Axl Rose Disaster III.

HOLY FUCKING FUCKITY FUCK!!!!!! TUNE YOUR GOD DAMN GUITAR DJ.

Thanks everyone, all line-ups, crew, soundman, Caram,, that's about it. And that he paid Cage for the nice words. I'm off now too :-( At least saw ISE...

Is anyone in Europe watching this ? The stream doesn't seem to upload here...
EDIT: it works now.

That's cool. I'll arrive from work, pop open a beer on the balcony, light up a cigarette and enjoy the show. If there is rasp, it will be epic.
Prepare for disaster number 3
what were disasters 1 and 2? i feel like i'm very out of the loop today haha
Rio and Bridge School
ahhhh right. i heard a lot about Bridge School but haven't watched it due to the fear of second-hand embarrassment
Yes, some posters here have been eagerly awaiting disaster number 3 since the beginning of the SA tour. Sadly, no luck yet

I see that Tom Petty is being honored tonight to in LA (Hollywood) http://variety.com/2014/music/news/ascap-to-honor-tom-petty-at-pop-music-awards-1201140749/ . Without knowing the travel distance between LA and Hollywood I wonder what the chances of an encore performance of this are?-
That Axl...

I always thought it was Axl's version of homeboy. I didn't realize it was a real word.
^^ This. Another thing learnt today. You see I'm not really wasting my time here

You guys are right. He's still wearing the Ashba Swag shirt, but it doesn't bother me. He looks much better that way.

Found it Washington 07/17/1992. Here's the bootleg. Quality is not great, though, but at least now you know which show it was.

Ok I get the feeling I'm bursting bubbles here but as usual, I'm the messenger K? Lol
Tommy has a broken rib which he sustained he Brazil. Duff is playing the golden gods and I'm assured tommy (injury recovery pending) WILL play all the other shows and is very much still in GNR.
You heard it here first!!
SO the rumor of rib injury was true, still odd that he did play gigs though
I was wondering the same thing. Go figure
Our bubbles need more than that to burst.

Can't choose. I used to like UYI 2 better when they came out, but now I think I like UYI 1 better...

nah, mate...sorry, but nah.
and i say this as a huge fan of stinson's from the replacements days onwards.
if anything people were excited about the new lineup when it first came back, but these days most of what you'll find are snarky comments about how it's axl and some fill-ins. very few people outside these forums respect the current lineup as a unique entity, and in my years as a GN'R fan, i've never once held a conversation with a 'casual fan' and not had the whole "when is Slash coming back?" thing dropped in. most people just don't care about these guys because they never followed through on the early promise of becoming their own thing. they're touring playing a setlist comprised mostly of material they didn't even write, and songs that were hits in the '90s before they even joined the group. tommy is awesome, but this isn't a fact that is lost on him. i remember being really sad after listening to his interview with marc maron last year, because he made it pretty clear that he holds no pretensions about his place in the band, or that (in his own words) people go to see them for axl.
we all would have liked to have seen Axl's vision of the band establish itself and prove itself but outside of the bungled release of Chinese Democracy these guys were simply never given much to do on their own accord -- and even as it stands now, half the guys in the band weren't even responsible for writing or contributing very much to ChiDem.
I enjoy how passionately you write your posts, but in this case I think you're overdulging the melodrama of this board.
You say that very few people care about modern GNR, yet attendances everywhere except the US do not support your theory. The line-up has been performing for nigh-on 5 years - and the public at this point are very aware that the production does not feature Slash - yet GNR remain able to play venues which most rock acts aspire to play. Critics keep saying that the band should stop playing old GNR songs, which is totally ignorant of the reality that Axl was the driving force creatively. Why would he stop playing songs which give people so much joy? Others say that nobody gives a fuck about Chinese, yet they're conveniently quiet when people are audibly singing along to This I Love. They open 99.9% of the shows with the title-track from a record Axl supposedly wants to forget, again, how is that a logical conspiracy? They're a 'joke' to contemporary opinion, yet they can play a hipster event like Governors Ball without hitch. So you really cannot presume to know why Axl is able to keep touring - because the doom and gloom never adds up in the end.
And as a nit-picky point, most of the primary songwriters from Chinese Democracy (Axl, Tommy, Dizzy, Chris - Robin, Buckethead and Josh being the departed) remain part of the line-up.
People go to GNR concerts to see Axl.

Well with Tommy being injured, who knows? How do I feel about it? I have no idea anymore... But that's GN'R right
Wait, what?
I read that on HTGTH too, but don't know the source.

Sofine/Dazey (quote not working for some reason).
I have really good sources close to Axl (one in particular), im not 'showing off' or anything like that, not my style but it is what it is, anyway..... I know FOR A FACT that Tommy was planned to be back for these awards and that was (**looks at emails..... 15th April). It's there in black and white, Duff's last shows were suppose to be "Fortaleza" I get a response from any emails within 48 hours and usually within hours to any serious question I have/I out forward for the community. I've emailed my source regarding the turn around of events and currently it's gone silent. That maybe a coincidence? It may be that Tommy couldn't make the awards too? but like I say, Tommy WAS due back for these awards, FACT! Something has changed be it genuine or otherwise, that's all I know guys
Did you sources let you know why the 2-3 new songs weren't played? I'm sure you asked
The year isn't over yet, Coma!

Also, I don't know the Golden Gods, but as it will be broadcast on tv and I've seen people here calling it a high profile event, I assume it has some importance. Isn't it strange that when the band is offered this opportunity to show itself to, well, maybe not the world, but a broad audience anyway, the bass player is replaced ? And not with just anyone, but with the much more famous, original bass player ?

I would love it if Duff came back. He's be good for GNR, as we've seen in SA. I think he has some leverage over Axl, so IF there's new music on the way, he won't be holding things up. Nothing against Tommy, but as I became a fan in 1991, so I prefer Duff.
What makes me somewhat hopeful ? The fact that GNR seems to post quite a few pics of Axl and Duff on social media. It's not as if they're keeping it low profile. Even on the tweet about Golden Gods, there's this picture of Axl and Duff, without the rest of the band. Furthermore, if Duff replaces Tommy at Golden Gods, the casual fans will think Duff joined GNR again for good, wouldn' t they ? I mean, not everyone keeps up with this saga.
And the fact that Subsy made this thread, where only recently he said there was literally no reason to assume that Duff would stay on longer than the 5 SA shows

look at his 2 last facebook posts, gnr in 2006 and 2014
I did see this yesterday -- he deleted both posts.
wonder why? they were pretty good pics weren't they?
He hasn't deleted them.

Why do you love and support this band?

Okay, I'll have a go... First of all, I'm an old GNR fan. I was there in their heyday, was a massive fan, but I lost interest, I think around 1993. TSI did nothing for me and I got interested in other bands and music.
Last year I rediscovered GNR by accident. A few things happened and I decided to search clips of GNR on YT. I saw Axl back for the first time in years and it took me some time to figure who was in or out of the band. I totally missed out on Buckethead, Finck, the various drummers... I'd never heard of BBF, DJ Ashba, Pitman, much less of Team Brazil and Beta. I saw both Axl Rose disasters and was actually shocked, thinking it had always been like this the last few years. It amazed me that the band was still touring.
I decided to listen to some tracks of CD and, much to my surprise, I really liked it and became a huge fan again.
Maybe the reason why I'm not disappointed is because I missed out on all the promised new work, follow-ups of CD etc. I'm just glad Axl is still around and he still performs. That actually amazes me. I know he's gotten older and out of shape, but I still enjoy his music and most of his performances. Sure, there are songs that don't fit his voice anymore, but there are songs which he still nails, at least according to me. I think he still has it. The difference is in the expectations, I think. Back in 1993, I already thought: This won't last. They will be over soon and we'll never see or hear from them again.
I would love to hear new music, and I would be disappointed if we never hear new music again, but I wouldn't be as disappointed as (some of) you are. He's just a singer, a singer I love, but nothing more. Quite frankly I don't understand the people who say things like: retire or reunion. Why ? There are undeniably still many fans out there that enjoy Axl and GNR. Axl can do as he likes. Who am I to deny him or those fans what they seem to enjoy ?
Anyway, I love and support this band (but mainly Axl) because I enjoy listening to their/his music. That simple. He's the only singer I've ever really considered myself a diehard fan of. The minute that changes (again), I'm out of here, and I'll listen to the old GNR or whatever music I like then. There's too much out there to be wasting time with a band I don't like anymore.
