  1. I'd say Axl will choose a combination of songs that are well known and/or relatively easy for him to sound decent on. Jungle, SCOM, CD, uh, You're Crazy would be cool but I'd be surprised to see it. We'll probably get PC, because when was the last time Axl ended a show with something other than PC. Unfortunately, he'll be bad on that one. I don't expect Patience and SCOM. He'll keep it a rock set with one of those two, most likely SCOM.

You have to realize that Axl doesn't know that he sounds like shit on anything. That can't be an influence on what he'll play.

You honestly think he doesn't know? I think he knows.

I think he knows too. He should know.

  2. Where did you go when you were here?

I think I was there before you were even born, so it's a really long time ago, I went with my parents, I think 1988 or so. We visited the south, Bergen, Oslo... The things I remember were wooden houses and the Munch museum :) It's a beautiful country and so I'm really planning on visiting again, but the other thing I remember was the rain. We were there for two weeks and it rained quite a lot. We have a lot of rain here too, so we always try to have a holiday in the sun, so that's kind of keeping us back. (Bit stupid, I know.) But it's definitely on our list to do in the future.

  3. LOOOL darts haha, why are they robbed in london?

Because there's a lot of idiots in London...and some of them are decidedly unfriendly.

O my, going to London this summer :nervous:

Dont worry, they're hardly gonna bother some random tourist and also they are only really an issue if you move in those sorts of circles :)

I'm not really worried. And if need be, I have a strong husband ;)

I will make your husband my wife.

Okay... might have to steer clear of Norway too then. Shame. I'd love to go there again.

    How much can he squat?

Don't really know. He has strong arms though... I hope we don't bump into you...

  6. Why is bridge school even being discussed? He had strep throat... And you'd be nuts to say that's just an excuse.

That being the case, he should not have performed. I know it's for charity and all that, but you don't go out and give that performance. You just don't.

There were other options too. He could have gone there, explained the situation to organizers and sang I don't know, Patience, Don't Cry, or some songs using only his low voice.

He sang Welcome to the Jungle. An unplugged version, while we are at it. That was not excusable by any angle you look at it.

If he hadn't performed, everyone would have said: He's too lazy to get up from the couch.

  7. Axl certainly doesn't have the same fire and intensity that he did back in the Day.

But, I'm glad the man is still out there touring and giving his fans a chance to hear the classic songs.

Hopefully he's up for putting out a new album sometime as well.

This. I wouldn't call him lazy on stage though.

  8. Except for the lack of rasp, which many find to be an acquired taste, his singing is good.

Who here actually believes Axls trademark rasp is an acquired taste? If you don't like his rasp I don't know how you could have got into guns off the old records, all of which have rasp, especially UYI and the live era release..

E.g, you start by enjoying some ballads like NR or Patience because of other things than rasp and then you gradually go from being annoyed by the rasp to accepting it to enjoying it. Or perhaps you have been exposed to WTTJ so many times that you have to like a singing style you first found detectable. :shrugs:

For many it is simply an acquired taste. And many can never grow to like it. Some, few, I suppose, like it immediately. And I am talking about people in general, not just fans.

I think you are right. Many people believe that Axl can't sing, that he never could sing. For as long as I can remember, there have been people that didn't like his voice at all. So for people in general, I believe it is an acquired taste. And more importantly, it is very subjective. I do agree that I believe most fans, if not all, like the rasp, and that if you didn't like the rasp, you wouldn't have become a fan.

I like the rasp, but I also like his low voice a lot. Maybe if we ever get new music, the songs will be more adapted to his voice now.

  9. I once went to an extended family reunion and they served no alcohol.

Make no mistake. A flask is a good investment sometimes.

Speaking of a flask. I knew someone who had a flask with pure alcohol with him at all times. He would just order cola or something in a bar or wherever, and then pour some alcohol in  I'd never seen that before, nor since.

  10. She texted me last night. She said around 2 PM as far as meeting up goes, but she also felt the need to mention that she "forgot" that she might have to head out of town on Sunday. 50/50 chance and she's not sure what's going on with that yet.

So, yeah. I'm not getting my hopes up.

I don't get it. Didn't you say that she was the one that contacted you and she wanted to meet up ? Did she specify why she would have to get out of town ? I mean, if I wanted to go out with a guy I was genuinely interested in, and then remembered I might have to get out of town that day, I would either cancel that or explain the guy why I couldn't possibly cancel the other thing and I would reschedule immediately.

Yes, she initially contacted me and invited me out to her stable's open house in two weeks. I mentioned that I would be available this weekend and asked her out. She said yes to the date, and last night she "remembered" that she might have to go out of town on Sunday (which is when the date is scheduled for.) It's a 50/50 chance as of right now.

Oh, okay, it makes more sense now. I think it's best not to get your hopes up, like you said.

As fucking awesome as this is I started thinking...why not take the opportunity to play something with Duff on vocals? Raw Power, Attitude, So Fine...anything.

It won't happen for the same reason they didn't play 14 Years with Duff.

...Izzy? And I see a difference; Izzy didn't sing on any real "hits" or classic covers. Sure, So Fine isn't either to be fair, but people would have gone crazy if they ripped into Raw Power or Attitude, they're songs that even casual fans would know the originals of.

Haha, really cool to see that

Anyways, I watched that awful Shackler's video from Paraguay and idk if anyone posted this, but Civil War from this show was awesome

The inconsistency is a drag, some songs rock and others blow

That's true. It is inconsistent. That's why I don't agree with people who say Axl is shit. I actually think he nails a lot of songs, and then there are other songs that... well, I don't like that much.

And nice to see Powerage has some leverage on the setlist...

  13. You hardly ever used to see an auto in this part of Europe either, but that seems to be changing now, with hybrid cars and all that. I've never driven an auto, but our next car (if we ever buy one) will most likely be auto. It's much easier, isn't it ? Traffic is so busy here, and it's a pain to drive a manual in a traffic-jam. That would be the main reason. With busy traffic and traffic lights all over the place, we constantly have to stop, start, accelerate, brake, stop, start...

My mother drove an auto for almost 20 years, then went back to manual. She did fine, after the first few hiccups ;)

  14. I absolutely adore that blue and nude Chanel dress. It's beautiful and definitely want to try combining sky blue and nude soon, even if I'll never own that particular one myself.

I like yellow dresses. I've never owned one, but yellow is such a pure, joyful and summery colour. I really don't have the skin tone to pull it off though. I think that the next summer wedding I go to, I'll make a yellow dress.

I know I said that I wouldn't post a photo of my wedding dress until I've finished it, but since I'm here uploading photos, I might as well. It's around 80% of the way there. Since taking that photo, the straps and neckline have altered drastically, but with that photo, you can at least see the general gist of what I'm going for.

    I love it, Gracii! Great that you can make your own wedding dress. It looks like a great dress to wear too. As in comfortable, I mean, pleasant to wear;

  15. He's not an original member so it is untrue that he's an original gunner but he is the most integral member after Axl, Slash and Izzy and was a huge cog of Appetite being cultivated after the band started getting their shit together in a historic way so either way is viable in a snake and ladders kinda abstract way depending on your approach to the word original and it's semantics.

I don't think anyone's denying how great Duff is and how integral he was to the success of GN'R, nor his talent both as a songwriter and musician. But acknowledging that he simply wasn't part of the very first lineup of GN'R (=original) really doesn't take anything away from that.

Okay, SoulMonster, would Old Gunner be accurate enough for you then ?

He's an old gunner for sure, but I am actually quite certain he means it in the "original gunner" meaning, because I seem to remember Duff used to call himself a founding member of GN'R over at that Reverb column of his. I might be wrong though. I hope I am.

I was only joking. I'm sure they meant Original Gangster. I don't know if he had these picks made himself, but I think he deserves to call himself or to be called an original. I'm not quite as nitpicky as you are ;)
