To claim that it's ridiculous for someone to think the current gnr suck is ridiculous. It's an opinion, one that has a lot of ammunition to back it up.
I don't think they suck, but they are boring beyond words
If that's the case why bother with the band at all. Why waste your time signing in and offering an opinion. You are doing this all to yourself and it's all self inflicted.. Its not the bands fault you feel that way and I get the feeling no matter what the band does you aren't going to be happy anyway...

Yeah. Probably the same reason why that band can't debut new songs at the beginning of a tour. Because someone don't give a shit and can't be bothered.
As I have said previously on this forum in other threads. You need to leave the issues you have with the band at the door to this thread. The topic is clear in the thread title.
Anything other then a discussion on the specific topic at hand, would be disrespectful to the memory of Taylor Hawkins i would have thought.
There is a time and place for everything in life. This isn't the right time or place...

Also today, Axl Rose called two 2001 songs "Our new songs".
That sums up perfectly this show, but also the current state of this "rock band", their past, and their future.
You can always find another band to follow or take up a hobby..
People as yourself don't get it..
The band does not cater towards you..
The band caters towards the people who actually attend live shows..
The band isn't going to change its ways but people like yourself get all tied up in knots over something you cannot control..
This thread is supposed to be about this particular show.
But as always people as yourself cannot leave there issues at the door to this thread.
From your first post it become clear you have an issue with the band before they even played a note.
You need to deal with that...
Me, I am more then happy to pay money to see the band play in a few months in New Zealand. I know what I am in for, so happy to take the risk and there will be around 50,000 other people with me on that day.
All Including myself will be simply enjoying the moment...
So Rock on...

Why has Elton been such a big thing? What did he bring to the table? Not dissing, just wondering.
I know we can't apply the same to today's charts, cause those are just full of non-musical pop shit like Kanye, and certain times are forever gone. But look a the other artists from Elton's era - the Stones, Springsteen... that all makes sense. But what is it about this Elton character? Just the gayness and probably massive support in England? One or two hits? I mean, Bryan Adams is 100x better and he's nowhere near there.
Not sure why gayness was brought into the conversation as it has nothing to do with gross income generated via touring or ticket sales. Why even mention Elton John in the first instance if you lack the knowledge on the man himself or his music. You do know that Elton John and Bernie Taupin are greatly admired by Axl including on the song writing front and in fact, both have a very similar writing structure that can be heard in Elton John and Bernie Taupin songs as, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and I've Seen That Movie Too with strong elements crossing over into November Rain, Breakdown and Street of Dreams via the piano playing.
You mention that you aren't dissing Elton John, then proceed to do exactly that because of your ignorance..
There are a number of artists on those lists that you could question as being "such a big thing" but Elton John is not one of them...

I'd say this is the single worst thing slash has ever done. I'd rather he sold out musically. Did an album with beiber calvin harris and adele. But to advertise a BANK. Jesus fucking H Christ. What next? JP Morgan? Trump Towers? Trophy hunting? Fuck you Slash. And fuck all of you saying can't blame a man for making a little extra cash. There are some lines you don't cross. A fucking bank man. In the middle of some of the worst inequality and recessions the west has seen. A fucking American bank too. This is too much.
Got over yourself..
The man's got a family to support..
Time and change in personal circumstances as you get older tends to change your outlook and priorities in life... You know, children etc..
If you cannot move on from the past, that's your problem to deal with...
If you actually look beyond your own nose, you would probably see that Slash seems to have been a great supportive father... and that's exactly what a parent is supposed to be, including financially supportive..

The haters is back. Jesus.
People fell asleep in time, they think Axl is the same guy from the 90s, wake up, his peak since his return to the stage was in 2006. Forget there won't be an album, enjoy the shows.
Unfortunately it's a pattern as well. They only jump in when it suits them and they aren't humble enough to give credit were credit is due. They cannot leave there issues at the door..
There is not alot of reviews or footage from this particular show, so the haters rush in and once one starts they all pile in.
I don't see these people post in threads were the band has performed well or footage is available to counter there argument.
If you call them out.. You are an Axl lover or they deflect the blame elsewhere.
"Not praising a singer who's voice is fucked = being a hater. Welcome to myHTGTHfoum. :facepalm".
Countless threads are derailed by these people and once the thread goes off track, the threads die out.
Its a shame really and more of a reflection on these people, then Axl or the band.
Most of us simply want to see how a particular show went via updates and those people who have kindly attended, live streamed or uploaded footage. After all isn't this thread titled - 07/13/22 - Vienna, AT - Ernst Happel Stadium

Comparing yourself to him and his circumstances doesn't make sense. Are thousands of people paying good money to see you perform? I assume not, so you being fat and out of shape and singing really badly doesn't matter unlike for Axl, because there's no one paying their hard earned cash to see that.
Axl Rose is an artist and his physical appearance has nothing to do with his profession. He is not a jockey or a boxer were physical size is a requirement for the job. Axl has always taken care of his body and he has a long history of being active in terms of cardiovascular work and as of the late 90s building muscle compared to when he was younger and slimmer
If you actually take a look at his biceps and triceps, Axl has clearly been working on all areas of his body in relation to physical conditioning.
He also is displaying much more of a correct posture. Lower back issues have a tendency to cause your midsection to pop out due to your muscles tighting up making your stomach seem larger then it actually is...

I would have thought that unless confirmed officially, it's pure speculation or rumor.
No other sources have backed up any of these claims mentioned.
I find it hard in understanding why people feel it's comfortable to discuss people's health or mental status more so those they don't know..
The fact a majority here actually believe this might be true without any official confirmation, who are now medical experts of the ear, nose and throat specialist kind or mental health professionals.
How about we show some respect and dignity and not get to deep into the rabbit hole.
Clearly to some there are no boundaries...
And you wonder why band members and band management dont responded or communicate with a section of their fan base more so those on this forum.
Its convenient to use an unnamed source to make anything you like up, as it cannot ever be confirmed or denied..

Since the crowd got their concert cut short and problems getting in it would be nice to reward them with a new song. Just saying.
Those aren't issues created by the band. The band has no control over issues involving entry to the venue that lead to a shorter show to fit within a curfew time frame.
Thats an issue for the venue and the promoter to resolve and fix.

Well, any fan anywhere in the world who's paying for a show should expect the same thing - decent vocals. Which is not what they get. The fact we attended so many concerts and seen so many YT videos where he sounded like shit that we got used to it is called bias. "He sounded better than in Prague." "Definitely the best performance of XY song so far." "Of course the vocals were not perfect but still better than in 2011 in Rio." "During some songs he sounded relatively good."
I mean what the fuck?! The guy sounds like shit, period.
And yes, I stated some of the apologetical nonsense above myself. Repeatedly. Because I love the guy and the band. But really, take a non-die hard fan to a concert or play someone out of our circle some video on youtube and you'll see an honest unbiased reaction. I did it many times and it really was a bitter eye opener. They laughed, they thought it was a joke, they asked me whether he had some serious health issues. They definitely didn't give a flying fuck about Rio 2011.He is human and that's the most important factor when it's comes to a live performance. If you want to listen to a perfect vocal performance, then it's as simple as pushing play via listening to the original studio recorded material.
The only progression from this point is to have backing track vocals that will create the perfect vocal performance you desire.
That won't happen with Axl, as he is exactly like us, and we cannot go back in time to create something we once had in the past.
You are simply getting the vocals that Axl can deliver at this current time not the Axl of 2 years ago or 20 years ago.

I'm seeing GNR on Tuesday so I'm brushing up on the current tour.
That stage is seriously unimpressive. Easily the worst stadium act stage on the road at the moment.
Lights etc, all pretty weak. Looks like a budget stadium tour
Did you ever think the issue might be logistics and the cost of transport that has affected every major country in the world including supply chain shortages as building materials and food. Guns N Roses cannot control what is currently happening in the world so maybe the band and tour promoters were smart enough to factor this in via touring on a smaller scale to allow for easy transportation around the world to ensure staging and gear actually arrives at its destination on time.
Maybe you should speak with builders or construction companies waiting for months to receive building materials because of a world wide issue in relation to, supply, shipping and transportation (by air or road).
Also factor in bands keeping their touring bubbles small to limit the impact of the spread of COVID-19 amongst the band and crew more so via mixing with local crew members brought in from outside the bands normal touring party as stage riggers, to technical, as sound and lighting engineers etc.

For the general public, they just need to play the hits. It’s the fans they need to think about once in a while too.
The people on this forum are the manority not the majority. The majority pay to enjoy a show and don't pick apart everything, analyse, over analyse and look way to much into things via speculation.
Apparently the world has ended because Slash isn't playing specifically to what people on this forum demand or apparently they are close enough to Slash to know whats going on in his head at that particular moment in time.
I think a majority on this forum have forgotten what attending a live show is all about.
Thats enjoying the experience of being there in person..

Jesus Christ, nobody is asking them to stop playing Jungle, SCOM etc., there's nothing you can do about that. But the solution would be "Hey Axl, why the fuck do you keep insisting on doing songs like Better etc., when it's clearly a pain to do and listen to?" Case solved, but I suppose that takes balls.
Did it ever occur to you, that to there ears there is nothing wrong with what they are hearing, you know those musically tuned ears of a musician. Maybe take a step back and see it from another perspective..
Justin Hawkins as a fellow musician and admire voiced his opinion and summarised things perfectly..Case solved..

Let's just put things into perspective in relation to what has occurred in the last few years. The band toured successfully the US without a member of the touring party being infected nor the tour being cancelled because of COVID-19.
To my knowledge, the band members have stayed healthy during the pandemic.
Now the rest of the world can enjoy the band and so can the fans who plan to attend shows.
If you take into consideration whats occurred around the world in the last few years through a pandemic, vocals, set lists, pyro or if the tour is a cash grab, doesn't really matter in the grand scale of things..
Enjoy what we have, because what the last few years has shown us is, it can all disappear tomorrow.
Extremely grateful to be able to see the band in New Zealand, with our borders open to the rest of the world again and restrictions being removed that has prevented any large scale events from occurring..

Lighting is a very different risk compared to rain more so because if you are in an open space the human body is at risk of a direct strike or a contact strike.
So you have two risk factors.
1. People can get strick directly to the body.
2. People in contact with an object can channel that electrical discharge to others including those standing on a stage or next to objects.
Thats why for any situation were an outdoors event is taking place, the emergency response is to remove yourself from an exposed and open area and take shelter. They even do this in the sport of golf via requesting all persons to leave the course and seek shelter..

That's basically it. Since Axl stopped caring/ gave up, the fire is out.
I find it interesting that fans make broad statements, based on little facts.
You can state, that in your opinion Axl has given up.. as that presents a different point of view, not as a fact.
We all have our own points of view on how we see things through our own eyes.
Some fans have higher expectations and want a past Axl to return in full greatness lncluding physical shape and vocals.
Common sense tells you that age affects all of us, including our hero's and you cannot go back in time..
There are some, who greatly believe that past members will return and things will be the same as they were in the past.
That won't be the case, because thats not how life works.
Maybe Axl understands were he is at, and is working with what he has at his disposal from physical conditioning to his vocals.
In relation to caring, yes because there are a large percentage of us around the world who have had limited or no opportunities to see the band play live over the last two decades.
I think that's what US based fans forget, and a reason why the band finds more success when it comes to concert attendances outside the US.

1 hour ago, Gordon Comstock said:Yea, my dad mentioned he watched the performance and thought Axl sounded bad. He's a GNR fan, we went to NITL and CD-era shows together, but he doesn't follow them or watch the Selects or anything like that. If you show these songs to an average fan, they'll probably tell you he sounds bad.
It wasn't a GNR show nor was the appearance supposed to have taken attention away from the lead artist, out of respect to Carrie Underwood.
Axl has always been respectful in that manner, even to a Mr Angus Young.
Like always, people over analyse a simple situation.
Axl Rose made a guest appearance at the request of a follow artist and admirer of his work. His vocal performance is irrelevant under those particular circumstances.

It's so Axl Rose, and that's what we love about the guy. He has this mystical element to him and he appears at the most random and unexpected places.
Given the world we live in today, with a focus on putting your life on full view for all to see via social media, having a person lurking in the shadows and appearing out of know were, makes it more interesting..
The guy is clearly in a good place in life..

Probably need to take a step back and put things into perspective. The guy was out for a walk around his neighborhood and based on his body language and demeanor, the guy seems to be at ease with life.
Does anything from these photos suggest Axl has the weight of the world on his shoulders in relation to any of what you mentioned.
I think the fans are the ones who won't let go and seem to carry the weight of Axls world on their own individual shoulders.

I recommend you search YouTube under Taika Waititi Boy or Thriller Haka to understand how influenced the director is by the 70s and 80s and those musical era's.

Yes, but if that's true, it's proof-positive that GNR as a band are no longer artists. Do you know how many bands still make records? Everyone from AC/DC and the Scorpions, to modern bands like The Lumineers. They're all churning them out. And do you know why? Because for an artist, making art is akin to breathing. So if modern GNR were still artists, and not just businessmen, they would have released one or even two records of brand new music (not old CD stuff) by now. But they haven't... and that pretty says it all. They're sadly here for the paycheck and playing live. That's it.
And that's real fuckin' bummer.
The music and artistic industry has changed for many different reasons.
No point in releasing an album when no one buys albums anymore and touring is the main stay for any recording artist.
Record labels no longer hold the power they once did and don't have the financial resources to sign artists to large record deals as in the past.
Guns N Roses will never receive a record deal in financial size and scope as the one CD was built on.
Tour promotors hold all the power and can offer bands more financially to tour locally and around the world.
These guys aren't in the 80s and 90s anymore nor is the music industry.
The band is operating within the supply and demand for touring and playing live that's is the common factor in the music industry of today and via selling albums.
Touring, merchandise and other revenue streams filles the hole left due to album sales being poor in today's music industry compared to the past when album sales made an artist money and touring revenue was icing on the cake.

The key point to take out of the interview is its the first time Slash has allowed an incite into his current relationship with Axl. Both have settled there differences and an element of respect has developed.
New music will come based on that alone.
Create a foundation, the rest will fall into place..

Thankfully the individuals involved seemed to have all moved on, and it's all water under the bridge and has been since the reunion.
Not sure why the fans have to continually rehash the past.
If there were issues, then thats understandable, but why waste time on the past, compared to what the future may hold.
Place yourselves in the shoes of the individuals involved.
Do any of you think the reunion would have lasted this long, if those individuals had not reconciled there past differences.
There is no need to take sides as fans, when that doesn't exist amongst the individuals themselves within the band at this correct point in time.
Why focus on Axl versus Slash or any other band member, when all seem happy, comfortable and at ease each other.
The original topic is all based on us choosing a side.
How about we just be Guns N Roses fans..

To be clear (and you know this personally) I actually don't care if the music I like is popular. However, many people on this board do care. So much so that they make up wild claims such as "GN'R is the biggest band in the world" or the laughable "they're packing stadiums!".
So my post was merely meant to show how if GN'R put the smallest amount of thought into promotion, people outside of the forums would actually give a shit about them.
You see things through a very small hole in the wall. Plenty of people outside of the forms and around the world give a shit as they are the ones actually turning up and paying to see the band. They don't pick apart the band, are objective and go there with the sole purpose of enjoyment.
You forget people outside of the US (your small hole in the wall) have less opportunities or no opportunity to see this band in there own country. Some have to travel to a nearby country to see the band, as the band might not visit there own country.
These people don't care about promotion, they are simply excited to see their favorite band or GNR up close and in person.
I have travelled to the US, UK, South America and Australia to see this band from the other side of the world.
It will be 6 years until December 2022 that i will be able to see this band up close along with about 70,000 people in Auckland, who like myself have waited 6 years to see this band again or will go and see the band to simply enjoy themselves..
Will i be paying to see the band because of a lack of promotion or a new album. I will purchase a ticket to see the band, because there may not be another opportunity to see the band live in my own country again without travelling or the expense that goes with it.
Maybe when you make comments as this. You should be mindful that to some people, "GN'R is the biggest band in the world" and around the world they're packing stadiums.
Being objective, the news the band is playing in Auckland, 2022 at Eden Park, the response has been positive and overwhelming. To these people GN'R is the biggest band in the world and Kiwis will pack the stadium.

It is a safe space in the event of an emergency or if the crowd push forwards. In the past this space was created between the stage and barriers but this design allows people to be moved laterally or taken from the side inside of being removed at the front as thats often the pressure point.
