This forum every day is slowing becoming a pop diva artist forum due to the amount of bitching going on.
We all ready have people on this forum who bitch about the clothing band members wear or the colour of their hair.
Some of you don't realise how grateful you should be to have the band perform live close to home.
Sometimes i think some of you are not true fans of the band!.
Its simple. If you choose to go and have the financial ability to do so, go see the band in Vegas. If not and for other reasons, don't go see the band in Vegas.
On top of that people who choose to go and can financially do so or choose to attend many shows get called out for it.
The band has only played in my home country 4 times in its history.
To see my favourite band live I have spent thousands of dollars travelling the world. That was my choice to do so.
I am travelling to the US in a months time to see the band play on its current run of live shows with my family in tow.
I am not a weathly person, but for me to be able to travel and see the band, I work hard to save up the money with the support of my wife and family.
Seeing our favourite band live is not just about the set list.
I have seen the band play live in countries around the world standing next to people who cannot speak a word of English.
But in that moment, we speak the same language that is Guns N Roses. We are standing there rocking out or singing the lyrics to a GNR song. It's an amazing experience to stand next to a person who in broken english knows and is singing every lyric to a GNR song, but when you try to communicate with them, they don't know or speak a single word of english. I would imagine the same thing would apply to the other person due to me not knowing their language aswell.
That's the power your favourite band has over you.
Maybe some of you need to remove yourselfs from the world of a GNR fan forum to take a reality check on life.
Life's to short.
I am currently looking into attending the Veges shows. If I do, it will be my 3rd time seeing the band in Vegas.

As an Australian, i envy both the US and Europe. Then again, i would much prefer if they just knuckled down and got an album out before any more extensive touring.
Same for us from across the Tasman. The band has only been to New Zealand 4 times 87,93,2007 and 2017. Went to all 4 of those.
I have seen the band live 8 times in other parts of the world.
Yet we get Ed (i rip off other peoples music) Sheeran touring or turning up 4 times a year to do radio promos and intimate showcases. Sign of the times in terms of the recording industry and music in general.

Makes sense given touring is what makes the money these days. Live Nation as the promoter so i presume the venues are owned by live nation or have exclusive right arrangements with live nation. UTA the bands booking agent seems to busy at the moment receiving requests from promoters.

It's been made very clear for what ever reasons, Izzy will not be involved in any shape or form.
The people involved that's Izzy and the band have moved on.
I am not sure what the point of this thread is.
All you guys are doing is going around in circles again, that leads back to the fact people have moved on.
Of all the positive things that have happened with a semi reunion, the repairing of estranged relationships and talk of new music, why not look towards what the future holds.
I get the feeling that's what the band and its members are doing and looking forward to. Not the BS of the past.
The question some of you need to answer yourselves is, while some of you guys are contemplating Izzy's future involvement in the band, do you get the feeling Axl, Slash or Duff are doing the same or even Izzy himself occupying their time and energy on these matters.
I would suggest not, and they are all getting on with life.
It's only curtain fans that have issues with the current state of affairs.
Why some of you waste your time on the notion is beyond me, given those involved aren't or have put the issue behind them.

Clearly you guys aren't fans of the band or understand the bands or Axl's history.
Axl has been doing pre show preparation for decades including physical exercise, stretching and having work done on his back.
There are a number of articles that mention his pre show practices.
Instead of knocking the guy down, maybe read and understand why he does preparation.
One would think after decades of doing the same thing, as a 55 year old he might of given it away by now.
The fact he is still doing it means it's for a reason.
Might not be to your liking or reasons, but you aren't the ones up on stage for 3 hours plus.
If you were able to see the man from close up, front of stage, then you would have been able to see the sweat pouring off his forarms and teeshirt.
You would need to have physical stamina, fitness and a healthy body to continue being physically active for long periods of time.

Maybe in your reality.. The majority of the world didn't seem to care much about the band when he was the only one left...
Maybe in your world. Check your facts. The band during a curtain period did just fine. Was it compairable to another era. No, but the CD era with other members in GNR was part of its history. You cannot change that. Look beyond the US as the rest of the world embraced GNR at that point in time. Download festival, Rock N Rio, plus the gig in Auckland, NZ that I went to with 12,000 other people.
Don't speak for the rest of us, just because you cannot let go of the past.

It's understandable. It's common these days that main stream festivals tend to cater to EDM style music or fans who prefer the cool hip artist at the time.
I would like to attend and add this to my GNR tour, but reading the comments on the festivals facebook page, explains alot about todays main stream music festivals. People complain about the line ups but it's not because of the quality of the live performance, it's more based on the fact the popular "it artists" like Billie Eilish, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala aren't playing so they cannot instagram or tweet that they are at Voodoo to their friends, and the cool named artists that are there.
Basically amongst that demographic an instagram post or a tweet from a festival with a mention of GNR is not a cool and hip thing.
Would rather attend as I am doing Louder Than Life and Exit 111 as there will be more like minded people attending.

I see the people leaving in the past continue to do so. The thread is about whether the band should play a song when they return to playing live on tour. Like most threads it starts off well than goes down hill Izzys not in the band, Izzy wrote this and Slash wrote that, Frank's the drummer, Axl is out of shape etc.
On top of that people think Axl and the band can go back in time to replicate something they did 20 years ago. That's won't happen as none of us can go back and be the same people we were 20 years ago.
It's gets boring and after thinking that's a cool thread and question to put out there, after 2 pages you give up as it's the same repetitive shit over and over again.
How about we stick to the topic at hand.
I am sure the current line up would pull off playing Locomotive live either via the original version or a reworked version to suit what the band chooses and feels comfortable playing.
-
People need to understand the money is made via touring these days. Promotors know they have an audience they can promote to and attract. The promoter would have approached the GNR booking agent with an offer. Given the current booking agent GNR use, they would have done background checks on the promotor and agreed on a down payment to secure GNR.

People need to stop looking back at the past.
The Axl of today is clearly a very different person than in the past.
The Axl of today has shown no behaviour from the past and seems to be in a better and happier place.
Older and wiser with many different experiences both good and bad to learn from.
The simple fact the Axl and Slash were at Axl's home studio points to a very different approach to things.
This is very positive and fits the body language displayed by Axl and Slash being comfortable together on stage and in general life outside of touring.

I suggest for those who haven't, check out Joe Rogan and his conversation with Billy Corgan on his podcast.
Very informative re music industry and royalties.
I found it very fascinating on a side note on how Billy Corgan sees things in hinsight older and wiser now than at the time in his 20s.
The pumpkins situation is very similar to Guns in relation to Billy and James (relationship repaired) with Darcy on the outside.

It's interesting that some of you take a very simple and honest answer to a question and turn it 360 degrees to suit some peoples narrative and wish. There is nothing in that statement that reads there to be any intent of malice or being disrespectful towards Izzy.
Duff, was being open and honest.
I see the same people on this forum take childish potshots at band members for speaking their mind, because what they say does not suit what they believe.
These people are the same people who continue to bitch and moan because the band or its members don't talk or communicate with the fans.
Duff communicated with you and the first thing some of you do, is to knock him down and call his character into question.
Why dont some of you put that aside, be objective and take it for what it is, Duff is simply answering a question, being open and honest.
Some of you remined me of children who don't like what they are hearing or choose to ignore, so they place both fingers in their ears and make lala, lala sounds.
These guys will never please some of you no matter what they say or do.
In Duffs case, after becoming sober and healthy in life, writing and speaking have become a big part of that life something the he enjoys and is good at.
The statement in the article is simply Duff being himself.
Thats something that should be appreciated and respected.

I get that some people want the old days to return but topic threads as these are redundant and are based on fantasy rather than reality.
Life takes you along many different roads and people choose to take many different paths along the way.
I am not sure why any one cares if it's a legitimate follow up to UYI.
Yes, there will be people that will see it as a legitimate follow up, but also there will be people who don't know about the bands history, don't care or see things differently based on the current state of the band and its current members at this present point in time.
Thats ok. Same thing if you think it's not a legitimate follow up based on not having curtain members in the band compared to current members.
That's ok to.
People on this forum are a small manority and get themselves all court up in things they cannot control.
You cannot change the past and you cannot control the path other people choose to take in life.
It is what it is.
Let me know if any of you invent time travel, and you plan to go back in time and change the path of Guns N Roses and curtain band members. I will than check into see if the current state of the band has changed.

Very similar example in relation to this topic.
https://racer.com/2019/05/14/haas-title-sponsor-rich-energy-loses-court-case-over-logo/
This example is based on a logo.
The two are very much aligned, given both parties are profiting off someone else's original idea and work to create a brand that benefits themselves at the expense of others.
Rich Energy's response is the normal go to position.
We have been found out, give us some time to come up with an excuse, offer a settlement so this goes away and we save face or allow time for people to forget that we were trying to line our pockets off the back of other peoples ideas and work.

I think you will find a history of Axl laying down his vocals as the last piece of the recording process. He did it during the illusion process and he will do it again moving forward. In this case Moby would have gone into the situation with very little information and probably was unaware of Axl's vocal process.
At that time to Moby, it was a strange process.
In today's world, it's not a strange process, it's common with the members of Tool and Maynard James Keenan able to manage doing things differently than others.

1987 W. Axl Rose would have sued 2019 W. Axl Rose for falsifying identity, masquerading deficient product under ''Guns N' Roses'' trademark and generally being shit.
You always seem to ignore the facts. You have no evidence to suggest anything you say or believe in relation to how Guns N Roses and its management operate "a template on how not to run a band".
Fact, that template lead to the 2nd highest grossing tour of all time. That template as an outsider looking in and as stated by current band members has created an environment that is welcoming, friendly and an atmosphere that has helped the band members become comfortable around each other more so two key members who have put their personal issues behind them after decades of not communicating.
Thats a template on exactly how you should create and manage any work environment so your core business can continue to function in the future.
Why do you think its progressed from a reunion tour to talk of new music, because of that template that's been created by the bands management and people closely associated with the band.
Thats something you always overlook, the facts.

Of course they are going to sue. Companies cant use other people's brands to promote or sell their stuff without paying them (or at least get some sort of consent).
GnR has every right to sue them, and they should do it
100%. I wonder if the people who take issue with the band sueing, or seem to make light of the subject matter, would be happy if someone profited off their ideas, name and hard work, to make money for themselves at their expense.
Clearly the company in question made a decision to create a product using a very similar name and logo to that of a very successful band that uses its brand to create and generate income from a number of different avenues across the world.
What marketing genius at the brewery come up with that idea.
It's clear as day, the companies intention was to profit and make money at Guns N Roses expence.

2 hours ago, rockphantom said:Is the general consensus that Duff is a "corporate" punk rocker in 2019? It seems like this to me.
Even punk rockers have families to support and bills to pay.
Maybe Duff realises that he is not in his 20s anymore and has responsibilities in life.
Whats wrong with that.
So, Duff can no longer be passionate about punk rock because he wants to put food on the table and a roof over his families head as a 55 year old man.
Isn't that called being an adult, a husband and father in life.

He was probably thinking that he likes Looney Toons and everything doesn't have to be that serious. So when they asked him to sing that silly AC/DC parody song for one of his favorite cartoon shows, why wouldn't he do it? It was never supposed to be a great song. It's just a silly little cartoon song. Why do you take everything so seriously?
Like a few posters here they feel personally hurt and take things to heart because the bands not doing what they want them to do.
The poster cannot distinguish between a song created for children and a cartoon, from what they want to believe the song represents.
They than turn it around and it becomes the band and the world are against them.
Of course it's all on Axl. What was he thinking, knowing full well, when approached to be involved, that the target audience was going to be children watching a cartoon.
Nothing to do with the fact it's the individuals problem to deal with not anyone else's.
These people don't use common sense logic. It would not make sense for any GNR member to write a classic GNR song for a childrens cartoon.
I am not sure my 6 year old daughter would care about the lyrics, melody or riffs. She would be more interested in the actions of the cartoon characters.

It's the reality of the music industry of today. A few years ago pop music was not taken that seriously based on silly lyrics being about breaking up with your boyfriend being sung by people in their mid to late 20s. Taylor Swift is still doing that today.
This type of music makes the money, that feeds the music industry of today. It's all about the social image that makes more money for the record executives before the 5mins of fame ends and the artist has been used and tossed aside for the next artist in the production line.
Rock music is now the preferred option to not take seriously as there is no money to be made off the machine of Rock music.
EDM, Pop, R & B, Hip Hop and Rap is were todays music market is and feeds the machine in making people money including music journalism.
In New Zealand we have 20 year old music reviewers, who review live shows who completely ignore the fact the artists are lip syncing and act as if it's a normal thing to do, not sing live.
These are the same music reviewsers who go to a music festival called Lane Way were 90% of the artists are hipster, who are aged in there 20s, dressing like they are in the era of the 70s, with these music reviewers not calling them out for taking ideas from a past era or artists from the past including Rock N Roll artists.
They do this as it will upset the artists fans, via Twitter with social media having an influence, as that's who feeds the money making machine.

I doubt Slash and Duff have the balls to offer any constructive criticism.. This reunion is all about appeasing Axl.. As long as they make their loot, they are good.
The one bit of positive news us fans have received i.e one small step for GNR man kind, and you are still a negative nanny.
You set yourself up for that negativey as you still only believe what you want to believe and wish for.
Time to let it go.
The band has moved on and going in a different direction from were you want them to point and head to.
I expect the same reaction from you when you realise Izzy will not be involved in the future with recent rumours, just being rumours spread by an unreliable source.
When the people who call out the band on all sorts of issues including future music, band management, the relationships between band members or the current band line up, get found out and are wrong or mistaken they turn it around and blame the band.
Thats not the bands fault.

Of course this could be Axl learning from past mistakes and not going down the path of recording from a external studio over a number of years. It's very possible Axl has created his own HQ studio as metallica and the Foo Fighters have done, with band members coming into record their separate parts when it suits all involved. I can not see this guys spending large amounts of time all together in a studio.
Thats not how it's done these days.
I also personally believe this is a sign that the band now have greater control over their music and how it will be produced and released without a major label mudding the waters. UMG might be involved but only at a curtain level in terms of control over the process and release.

More sad is a management that doesn't give a f*ck to proper communication with fans.
Here's a GNR Forum and I can not find any other place better than here to share my frustration no matter how sad or pointless it might look in your eyes.
I can at least speak for myself that I gave up and am too old and busy waiting for another half-assed over-produced record. But I think I have all the rights to ridicule a management who ridicules us by enabling one retard low life guy taking down our bootlegs and youtube channels and the same management have fuck idea on how to provide an official access for such bootlegs instead. All we get from this band is some occasional k-pop style merchandise of plastic bullshit with GNR printed on it.
You guys enjoy the shows and have fun seeing them playing the same 30 year old shit setlist but I would never ever spend a penny supporting this dysfunctional cash grab circus. (Already ignored their terrible Abu-Dhabi show months ago)
Once you realise you cannot control what the band or any one else does in their life you will feel better.
Don't concern yourself with things you cannot control. The band and the individuals can do things how and when they like, its there business to do so.
They don't owe you anything and neither do you.
You can be supportive or choose to occupy your time with other things.
There is nothing wrong with that. The band don't expect you to operate your life based around what they do.

Just confirmed my travel plans and travelling from New Zealand for both the Louder than Life and Exit 111 festivals. Bouns is the family is coming along aswell, the wife and 2 kids.
Don't hold out hope GNR well turn up again in New Zealand any time soon, so i will go see them.
Looking forward to a new experience and seeing the band live again within a different environment.
This will be my 4th visit to the US to see the band live. Last visit was to see the band at Coachella. Ticked off going to Coachella along with seeing the band perform its 2nd show with Duff and Slash back in the band.
Looking forward to Deftones as well. I can remember seeing them play a Big Day Out festival in Auckland 20 years ago as young bucks that no one really knew about as they played on one of the smaller stages.
Saw them 3 years ago in Auckland on their last visit and they rocked the tiny venue they played.

in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Posted · Edited by kiwiguns
To be fair and objective, I have just been reading the last few pages of posts, and to honest, this issue being discussed involves a small minority of people and can be best summed up as being a tv soap drama. To be honest there are a larger majority of people like myself far removed from this, as I am from a little country in the pacific at the bottom of the world.
With respect, when people started to be mentioned from different states of the US, females who have had dealings with this person, the issue at hand became lost.
These are separate matters.
It's clear we now know, based on people better informed, and after reading whats been stated, that the band nor its management are involved officially in removing content from YouTube. Is this correct or yet to be established?.
The reason why I ask is, as an outsider far removed from information about this subject being posted, I would think it's not in the best interests of any of the band members or its representatives to get involved, as it's not their business nor should they waste their time on an issue that only effects a small minority of people.
The person spoken about, their actions, their motivation behind these actions, or the actions of others, who choose to communicate with that person, or choose to become associated with that person, cannot be controlled by the band nor its management.
