  1. I see another thread has been created by a poster who starts off with an opinion and than it becomes apparent that the poster does not like Frank being in GNR and they prefer one of the drummers from a past line up.

Than all the haters come out of the woodwork and fill a thread up again with the same repedative posts that fill up most threads.

When another open minded poster pointed out some facts and or reasons to a change in drumming style the creater of the thread than trys to move the conversation in another direction  as their true intentions or motivations have come to the surface.

I don't know why some of you can't be upfront with your opinions and just say I don't like the guy as i prefer a  band line up from the past.

The creater of the thread ignores the fact that from when Slash and Duff rejoined the band they have dictated the tempo and speed of songs as stated as fact by the lead singer of the band.

That is way the drumming style has changed from previous line-ups and over the years.

  2. Don't read to much into it guys as thats the reason he is guarded in relation to his answers as he knows things get twisted as some of you are already doing by claming he is passive aggressive or does not like Frank's drumming as there are better ways for him to make his answers clear by simply saying so. Slash is being honest in relation to his answers and seems relaxed when doing so. His remarks about Frank are tongue and cheek.

He is guarded because already people are trying to twist his words to come up with what they want to hear or believe.

How would that go together with impersonating Tommy? I can't see him being in on or playing along with this and I don't know about anyone from the camp other than Buckethead being on bad terms with him. I can't picture Axl condoning his staff going that far and then even dragging Stinsons name into this either. And I don't see a gain of this for any of the artists currently in the band. I wouldn't want to draw conclusions about TB being behind this wthout actual evidence. The internet is far from being as anonymous as it might seem, so I believe the truth will come out and even though TB might not very look good in all this, I doubt they are behind it. Either they have no clue how to deal with this in a professional manner or authorities are already involved preventing them from addressing the subject in public. At least that's what I'd like to think.

At least one person thats is viewing this logically. TB are a managemnt company.

They are not law enforcement or lawyers of any kind.

if you are the victim of a crime you call/go to the police (criminal act) and or seek legal advice (civil proceedings)  right?.

Once you have done that you let these people do thier jobs to investigate the matter or take legal steps to cease and desist.

So why do any if you think its the job of TB to do this when in fact they can only do so much themselves.

On top of that some of you expect TB to drop everything and make a public statement that could affect this process along with pleasing a small minority of fans on a forum.

All involved in this matter including TB are dealing with a person who has issues and their actions are clearly that of a person who is not acting on behalf of TB, Axl or the band Guns N Roses.

They have a histroy of acting without the consent and or permission, claiming to be someone or acting on behalf of others.

I would suspect this issue needs to be dealt with carefully for all involved.

TB making any kind of statement publicly won't help matters until its resolved.

I am really conflicted.  I LOVE that Slash and Duff are back in GNR, and to me this is the most that GNR has felt like GNR since 1994.  I dig this lineup and the shows I saw

But yeah a lot of the choices being made on the brand and business end of things are questionable and I can't help but guess that TB are mostly on that end of things rather than the big 3 themselves.

I don't dig the high prices for the Locked and Loaded set, the email about purchasing "exclusive" pictures, the cheesy ideas for some of the merch, while combining with that a total lack of true open communication with a fanbase that simply just wants to be further connected with a band we all love

Ironically, I was able to find things to like about even the most Mickey filled shows from the NITLT tour.  It is entirely the management and business decisions that are making me less enthusiastic

How does the business decision making process effect you?. Are you a share holder, is it your ideas or brand?. and does the GNR brand pay your rent or support your family?.

Again the notion that the big 3 are children and as adults can't make decisions for themselves.

Last time a checked the big 3 were all in their 50s.

These guys can do what they want, when they want with out the permission of a very small minority of fans on a fan forum.

I do not understand why any person would care about how a band or the management team operates.

What these people do or don't do has no effect on my life, me paying off my mortgage or providing for my family.

I would suggest the same thing applies to the big 3 and TB.

This belief amongst the fans that the band and or management owe us a reason for everything that they do or perceived to have done is why the band, its members and management act the way they do.

A manager of the band come to this forum and was happy to interact with members and be part of this forum.

A few weeks later and to this day that manager and his management company are belittled and accused of not acting in the best interests of the fans even though their job is to act in the best interests of Axl, Slash, Duff and the other members of the band to ensure a successfull reunion tour.

To date they have done their job.

Not sure what the point is of posting a picture from 2 years ago of Phill Rudd leaving a court appearance in New Zealand and giving the finger to the media.

Mr Rudd was convicted of very serious crimes and wont be allowed to gain a visa to visit most countries due to his convictions.

Wishful thinking that he would tour the world with a band.

They are absolutely jonesin' for sales and yet they still never utilize the star power of the band. I mean, when Metallica released their overpriced (albeit, not as overpriced as this) reissues of Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, they had the actual band members do the unboxing.

Guns seem to be completely against mainstream press or any media promotion whatsoever. I don't particularly care how much money they make, and I'm sure they make enough money anyway. But, doesn't it make sense to make a couple of prime time chat show appearances or at least a radio interview or something? They'd reach a far wider audience.

Imagine if Axl went on the Joe Rogan podcast? Probably double their sales. At least use someone else other than this Del James lookalike.

You do realise the guy in the video works for universal music group not the band?.

I think it is obvious that this GNR show needs some adjustment. Just my impressions:

Sound gets better, I think they warm up and Axl seems to feel more comfortable on stage. Nevertheless: he sometimes sounds horrible, depending on the song.

Therefore: a few songs should be banned: f.e.> This is Love is the most horrible thing I ever heard live. Plus the set is too long. Skip some "boring" songs , long does not automatically mean better or more worth the ticket price.

The video installations are kind of oldfashioned and not entertaining at all. More like made by two 14 year olds in 1994. If you want to do this you should keep up with the latest stuff and get in touch with some cool video artists who really know what they are doing.

Skip the silly motorcycle piano chair and think about the stage outfit again maybe ( okay not the most important part I know, but nevertheless..).. Too many chains and rings and silly shirts. Someone mentioned it before: Axls rehearsal clothes looked much better: sneakers, plain shirt, shorts..Right now his outfit makes him much older and oldfashioned in a bad way, too. Is this supposed to be a rock outfit? It is rather tasteless. Sorry, only my opinion.

When I think about GNR it is not just the songs but the feeling of listening to a band ( and a circle of friends) that is on a real rock mission. Unfortunately, this special feeling disappeared because it is not the original line-up. I cannot warm up to studio musicians like Melissa or Frank. They may be good musicians ( some may disagree:-)) ,but they just do not fit into this concept of a rock band, the magic is def. not there.

Slash is pretty good IMO, Axl is moving from great to horrible depending on the song/mood/rehearsal/moon phase. And sorry again: his new look is quite irritating to me. He never should have done what he did to his face/hair-no matter what it exactly was. Actually it makes him look like 68. I do not care to much About his weight, I guess this is a factor that can be fixed if he wants to. If not: his business-he has to get through this set somehow..

By the way: are there any advisors around GNR who are not yes sayers?

We the fans on this forum are the minority not the majority. To nit pick every thing about the band and individuals is not going to improve the band performance on stage.

At a time when we are losing great artists, having the ability to enjoy watching the band and  curtain individuals, we should be great full for that opportunity.

I still dont get the amount of fans who seem to want to dectate or decided what the band does, what each person should wear or they dont fit into a curtain box.

Guns N Roses have never fitted into any box as a band or as individuals.

They have had a lead singer who wore cowboy boots, and then wore bicycle shorts, a kilt or skirt with a baseball chest protector, a guitarist with long curly hair wearing a top hat.

Rock and roll has never been about looks or a curtain  fit.

Look at Elvis,  Bowie or Mercury as each had thier own style of rock and roll.

Most people (the kind Modano is referring to) don't know that. They're going to the show because GnR is an iconic brand and they trust the legacy of the band enough to go without knowing who is in the band. Irony being that said legacy is formed partially by people who are not there on the stage. Given how much they're throwing the AFD imagery in the marketing material, there's a case to be made that the way they're promoting the tour is deceptive. It's not a full reunion but it's still being marketed as one.

My point was simply that when you buy a product, you expect a certain "integrity" to it. When I buy a BMW, I expect german engineering and high quality craftsmanship. If they're compromising the parts in that car with inferior quality replacements to save money - that's not a "real" BMW anymore even if the BMW logo is on it. That's what this current iteration of GnR is. A hybridized inferior version of the original. Let's call a spade a spade.

Now if Izzy or Steven were unavailable, unwilling, ill, etc I'd give the partners a pass. Heck, you could even convince me that Steven is not a viable option for this tour and I'd buy it. But Izzy ready and willing to be included but they can't work out a deal? Come on...<_<

Has BMW evolved and are they still making products the same way 50 years ago and are the same people making these parts?. and last time i checked BMW was owned by two people and a group of share holders. Thats a company that has evolved with time and is not the same as it was in the past.

Just like BMW, Guns n Rose has evolved and will continue to do so.

    As Izzy said thats life.

Do you still have the same job,.mix with the same friends, live in the same house as you did 10 - 15 years ago and or has your life evolved possibly getting married, having children etc.

Your initial question was "Why do people take sides? We don't know the whole story", which is a valid and logical question.

I tried to respond by telling you why I think people take sides. Despite you trying to be utter logical, we are not here in a legal case where we have to wait for all evidence before deciding a sentence, this a fan forum and people are passionate about the band and its members (or former members).

People taking sides is mostly an emotional reaction, not so much logical. And I think it obeys to people having an affinity for those who open up and seem honest, rather than those who keep it all to themselves and live in secrecy.

Izzy is like one of the most coherent, if not the only, (former) member of the band. He's kept his coherence for a long time, he rarely speaks or gets involved in controversy. He has not badmouthed his band mates, like, almost ever. In the eyes of (many) fans, he is more credible than anyone else in the GN'R camp and that's probably why people believe him, take his side.

I agree no one is obligated to take sides but this band has always been fragmented, in all sense, so expecting that fans remain mute to this article is a bit... unrealistic.

I get your passion but you are getting way to court up in this. Unless you are Izzy in real life or even Axl , Duff or Slash why do you act as if this affects you?

“The current GNR tour has been a great success for the guys. My nonparticipation was simply not being able to reach a happy middle ground through the negotiation process,” Mr. Stradlin said in an email. “That’s life, sometimes things don’t work out.” He didn’t respond to further inquiries.

It seems the man himself is at peace with his decision and has moved on in life.

As a fan of  past lineups, including  Izzy and the current direction the band is taking, I respect that.

    Why cant you?

Has he not been on any online forums ever?  That is kind of the only thing they exist for :P

I think his point is that some fans believe they are part of the band's world and the life's of the band members. I read comments on here that are from fans that believe they know what is in the minds of these people or what motivates the band or individual members to make decisions, that only affect them and them only. It is creepy when you read the comments of some because it crosses the line from being a fan as an outsider looking in,  to thinking you are part of whats going on in the band members or their managements minds or thought processes. That's how the stalker mentality develops as you start to believe you are part of a person's life or have some meaning in that life.

You can have an opinion but it's from a point of view as a fan.. as we have no idea whats going on in the GNR world.

I think Axl gives him much more credit than what Tobias really is. Probably because he feels some sort of attachment... People from your childhood, hometown, early years always occupy a place in your heart that neither time or money can erase.

I can understand that... but I have no attachments with Tobias and also, I have no proof of his undeniable talent. Its impossible for me to see him as an influence or an important piece of Guns N' Roses history.

He is not and he should not be presented as such.

Sorry to point this out but you don't speak for Axl or the band. Re-read what you have stated. Thats your personal opinion. "I think Axl gives him much more credit than what Tobias really is" so you personally know thats what Axl thinks or thats your opinion?.

"He is not and he should not be presented as such". So you are part of the band and along with the other members believe that is the case or is that your personal opinion?.

Sorry just having a hard time understanding why you as a fan seem to believe Paul Tobias and his relationship with Axl and his history with the band, and how that has an effect on your daily life?.

Jeez... what is the SHIT that Adler talked here?

    NOTHING!

We all know that TB are the ones who pull the strings of everything. We've known this for ages. Thank you Steven for confirming, but it ain't real news.

This trashing of Steven for any little thing has become stupid and ruins all threads.

And you know this as a fact as you have first hand experience working with TB or the band, or as a fan you base this on hear say as you are on the outside looking in as many other people do.

I must have missed something as when  did we hear from a person directly involved in the band that TB are the ones who control the actions of Axl?.

I have heard people from the past mention things who have had no involvement with the band for decades spread hear say or rumors.

Steven has very little credibility with statements he makes based on the fact he contradicts himself. There are examples of this as a fact. Steve puts himself in these situations.

Thats his fault, no one else's

  13. This will be label driven and all about politics. The band dont need label support as they can fund and control thier own music and how they choose to release it.

This may be a compromise as a means for both parties to walk away from past or current obligations between the label and the band.

Major labels like universal are no longer the ones who have the power and control they once had in the past.

I am convinced that the reunion tour was a means to amass finances for the band to control, record and release thier own music.

Steven Adler was a guy with his defenses low, all sick from the drugs, trying to find a path and without a huge name like Guns N' Roses behind. Anything Adler did back then was heroic, given the conditions he was under.

Axl Rose, on the other hand, was sitting on his ass in his mansion. Being served food in a gold plate by his horde of Brazilian employees, counting the 13 million bucks given by the record company to spend on the promise of a grandiouse album.

So who is the loser here? The guy who had it all and did nothing with it or the poor guy who had nothing and still managed to pull out a couple of albums of original work?

I get you want the original 5 back together. But what does Axl having money, having a management team and how he chooses to spend his time and money got to do with you or your daily life?.

Its comments like these that show you have taken it personally and i am not sure why you have taken it to heart.

Remember Axl and the band would not know you from a bar of soap and what  you do in your life does not effect them.

The same should apply to you.

Nugnr would make the ''top five biggest cons'' list in musical history, alongside

    - Kiss recording a ''reunion album'' without the reunited line-up, but a bunch of hacks

    - posthumous Michael Jackson albums with newly written songs featuring a ''Michael Jackson sound-alike''

    - the current trend for holograms of the deceased (e.g., Dio, Roy Orbison).

    - ''Lynottless'' Thin Lizzy (at least they finally changed their name to Black Star Riders).

Nugnr would certainly make that list of fakery. I wouldn't say it would be number one as at least it had 1/5th of Guns N' Roses present but it would certainly make the top five.

    In your opinion.

Its not a fact nor do other people share that opinion.

Unfortunately time and time again these threads get high jacked by the same posters.

Each thread has a different content and discussion matter, but these people revert back to the same point of view and moving away from the topic at hand.

We are just fans and have no connection to the band,.the bands inner workings or what goes on in each individual band members  mind or thought process in the past, present or future.

We get it. You like, admire, believe they are better musicians and would  like the original 5 to reform.

You dont like current members of the band, CD, Axl, the band line up during 2000 to 2016, how Richard plays his guitar, Melissa as shes not rock enough, dont like keyboards or effects on songs the list goes on.

You either except that current state of the band, listen or watch recordings from past line ups or move on in life.

We are just fans and need to understand what we think does not matter as it does not  effect our lifes, family or putting food on the table or a roof over our heads.

  16. The issue is not what's happened in the past or who did what.

The issues are Steven making inconsistent statements opposite to ones he has made in the past.

Yes he can say what he like's, but Steven is not doing himself any favors as what he states needs to be taken with a grain of salt due to inconsistencies and taking it apon himself to speak on behalf of Izzy.

I don't blame him as it's a bi product of his addiction and health issue's as he is not thinking before he makes statements.

While people on this forum debate his statements, the GNR camp will be getting on with business and life.

Steven has stated he was happy playing the shows he did and at peace.

Steven needs to close that chapter and concentrate on his thing and move forward in life.

  17. Responsibility needs to be placed on Steven and more so the people he has around him as support or advisers. Comments made recently by a member of his support group, leads me to think Steven is getting bad advise or being taken advantage of by these other people.

They simply need to remind Steven that the other guys (Guns N Roses) are doing there thing and we are doing our thing.

That will keep him on track when it comes to doing interviews so he speaks on the present not the past.

I also think Steven needs to be careful speaking on behalf of others (Izzy) in this case, as he will alienate himself evenmore to the point were there will be no way back.

Sadly that may have already occured.

  18. It tends to be a policy set by others not the band or management.

I was part of a security team at a hotel the band stayed at in New Zealand.

While doing our job we mixed with the band and thier management team.

The band members and management were relaxed and very cool to deal with when you engaged with them.

Two of us from hotel security were asked to accompany the band to the venue. We got to the venue and were part of a briefing on people who would be working backstage or back of house.

These people (head of the venue security and a local promoter rep) told us and made a point, that no one could talk or look at the band members specifically Guns N Roses members.

We had more direct contact with the band within the hotel and we were never given that type of directive.

In fact the band just wanted to be treated normally.

So you change your approch to being  relaxed and professional (knowing not to ask for a selfie).

There is a time and place for that.

All security team members at the hotel got a hug from the band and management team when they checked out.

  19. Don't over analyse it guys. Some are making it or turning it into a mystery.

    Let's keep it simple.

A friend spoke to another friend on the phone.

A friend has recommended his trainer and the friend has accepted that offer using his friends trainer to help with  his fitness and health.

The friend in appreciation has expressed his admiration for his friend and his talents.

I think this has happened to most of us in life, were a mate has offerd or made a recommendation and when accepted, in return you feel proud of your mate and what that person may have achieved.

These guys are no different as its clear Mr Rourke values his friendship with Axl.

  20. Why does it even matter.

These people have no involvement or influence with the band or current band members.

    Its all in the past.

These people and some posters need to start looking at the now and the future.

The only thing that matters is 2 people have put there past issues behind them, and the current band seem happy, content and getting on with life.

    Others should do the same.

  21. They will tour again as there is a large market outside the US for stadium tours in South America, Asia and the South Pacific.

Europe has a massive festival scene, and i would not be surprised to see GNR appear at Glastonbury  at some point in the future.

They might do stadiums in the US and Canada or stick to Arenas as any possible short fall would be made up from shows in other parts of the world.

Fans in the US might not have been awear but 50,000 people turned up in Auckland. Thats the pull GNR have around the world. New Zealand is a very small market in terms of population compared to the rest of the world.a94a17261486655251_1024.jpg
