  1. The ship has sailed in terms of a AFD reunion. If it could of been worked out, it would have been in place for the NITL tour as that's when the value would have been at its highest to the brand and all individuals involved.

The NITL tour provided facts that clearly suggest, the current line-up sells tickets and can sell out venues around the world.

Tour promotors see value in the current state of affairs and so do the causal fans paying to see the band live that makes up 60% of the audience.

Maybe like an estranged marriage, friendship or family relationship all involved have realised things are to complex and complicated, and lets leave it be, and have moved on as adults do in life.

Their are a couple of ex band managers that were relevant and privy to the bands past endeavours. Comments made during that time were relevant to the band and the stories told since than are informative about that period of the band and its past. Like most fans i have read books and listened to interviews with Niven and Goldstein on there involvement in the band in the past.

Unfortunately they are out of the loop interms of the current happenings within the GNR camp.

I have read or listened to interviews Niven has provided and he has yet to acknowledge that he has had no involvement in the bands activities for a number of years and he is out of the loop interms of knowledge.

He always seems to act as if he knows or is privy to current GNR affairs.

We all know that's not the case.

Nodoubt imagine with izzy included this time it would be epic ....tell frank and Richard to sit it out you got a perfect show.

    I think so too

    I think so too

So these guys are going to jeopardise a stable environment, after 2 of the most important current members of the band, had not spoken to each other for decades, and after completing the 2nd highest grossing tour of all time with no issues or Axl returning to old habits to sell a few more tickets?.

    Not going to happen.

Simple reason. If they introduce an element of risk to that stable environment and that results in an unstable environment leading to tour issues as cancellations, late arrivals on stage or no shows or worst case scenario the band or someone else pulls the plug Guns N Roses in any form is done and dusted.

This dream only lives in the minds of people dreaming for what they want, and not based on reality.

  3. And you people believe the only person that has mentioned Izzy returning. A guy who pulls things out of thin air, given he has had no official role with the band for decades.

And its the same people believing this person, living on hope and not in reality.

That person and Mitch Lafon, its always i heard from a guy, who heard it from a guy, who heard it from a guy, who heard it from this guy.

  4. The delay is simple. Its all about taking control over there own product and the way that product is released.

These guys have created a large amount of leverage to gain that control.

The music industry is very different today than in the 80,90s and during the CD era.

Its common today for artists to release  music via their own label, distribution and marketing methods with control over that process.

The touring was to gain leverage and generate income to take control over the bands own musical product.

UMG maybe involved but, Axl and Co, after the NITL tour are in a nice place to negotiate, with UMG looking up, not down at the band.

It could be as simple as running out the clock on a current agreement to expire.

  5. Touring and selling merchandise at these shows is were the money is at these days. The music industry has changed over the last two decades.

Danny Wimmer the festival promotor is also the talent buyer for Woodstock 50 and the promotor for a Tool show sold out already in May.

It's probably more about being offered a festival headline and going, if it fits in with everyone being free, and it makes sense, why not.

And before people point the finger at the band or TB, it would have been the bands booking agent that would have been approached . Yes the band and it's management would have been consulted but the booking agent is in place to ensure it makes business sense to headline the festival and there are no concerns about the promotor in terms of professional integrity.

Jason Newsted has been open about the personal impact on him, of dealing directly with a promotor in Australia many years ago and being taken advantage of.

Thats why booking agents are essential. There job is to ensure the promotor is legit and pays the required up front appearance fee (deposit) than receiving the full payment, often held in the booking agents bank accounts, in trust, before being deposited into the artists management accounts each taking a percentage as their fees (band management taking out costs to cover payments to road crew, techs (Adam Day, McBob), sound and lighting techs, tour managers etc) than finally passing onto the artists themselves (the band members) as to the terms or each individuals remuneration agreement or share of the profits depending on what's been agreed to.

  6. I like how some take a simple interview, and turn that interview into a piece of fiction.

You guys must have the ability to read minds or infact be either Duff, Slash, Richard, Frank or Axl, as you guys know all about the interworkings of the thought  process, and the process behind those thoughts and actions taken by all involved.

It's ok to leave Trinity in the matrix and return to reality and take things at face value as an outsider and a fan.

You guys act like these guys are a bunch of 12 year olds arguing over toys, rather than adults.

Common sense tells you if that's the case the reunion would have lasted the one show.

  7. Some of you are sad MotherFs.

To pick apart a person, many of you have never meet based on a single interview.

If you take a look at recent interviews Duff has given there is no change to his physical or mental state.

The only thing that's a noticeable difference is Duff wearing a cap, that makes his facial appearance differ compared to when he has his hair and fringe on display.

Duffs natural appearance is often without a cap.

Thats the appearance fans are use to.

  8. To be fair the band and management are in a no win situation. Unfortunately fans on this forum are the minority of people that take issue with all sorts of actions the band takes on and off stage, or the actions of their management.

Given this you can understand why they dont feel the need to address the issue at hand.

Are the majority of people who attended shows as casual fans occupying their time worrying about YouTube clips being taken down?.

Given some fans that post here, if you place yourself in the bands and their managements shoes they would be responding to  every individuals issue they choose to raise.

Why is Izzy not involved - Please respond via a statement.

I dont like Frank's drumming. Steven has a better groove. Were is Steven - Please respond via a statement

I think the band are a group of Aliens and dont think they should be called GNR. Why is the band still calling itself GNR - Please respond via a statement

Melissa is not rock enough .why is Melissa in the band - Please respond via a statement

I don't like Richards guitar playing - why are you letting him do his own interpretation and not the original note for note song written by Izzy- Please respond via a statement

Even if they released a statement some will ignore the contents and believe what they want to believe based on their own perception or fixed mindset.

  9. Unfortunately there are curtain factors not being considered. Thats the current state of a label or distribution deal wheather it be a major label, independent or the creation of there own method to release new music. The industry has changed and individually the big 3 have experienced and viewed that change over the years. Most artists from the same era have taken ownership of their material and distribution methods no longer needing major label support.

You also need to factor in sales via a hard copy album or digital are no longer the major selling point they once were. Touring and merchandise is were the money is today.

I would also suggest the platforms available to rock music is no longer available as pop, hip hop and EDM music is the majority now in terms of air play and preference of todays youth market.

Yes us rock and GNR fans will buy a new album but that's not enough to make a return on money spent to produce the end product for a major label.

I also cannot see these guys spending 6 months in a studio environment together. That's why i personally believe new music has been created in some form, because in todays world you dont hand deliver DAT tapes anymore, you can email or send an audio file via a number of methods of your contributions to the project recorded at home or from an external studio.

These guys are being smart taking the time required to have greater control over their work and distribution of that work to prevent outside interests from becoming involved i.e record label executives.

I think the making of CD affected Axl in terms of the outside influences of others and i think he learnt not to go down that path ever again.

  10. Quite chill. Just don't understand the midset of what the posters issues are.

Just like us in the real world each band member has house payments of some sort to pay, bills to pay and families to support.

It would be naive  for all individuals involved and the band to sign an agreement on the back of a napkin.

It's s not 1986 any more. The world and the people involved have progressed in life even though some fans have not and are still stuck in the past believing Guns N Roses as a band is all about being mates, hanging out and not receiving payment for their time and work.

Imagine TB negotiating that deal.

Not sure why as they are not booking agents. They manage the band and its day to day operations.

Its no secret who the booking agent is.

Just need to google the Not in This Life Time Tour information.

Funny how people jump to conclusions without facts or rush to judgement.

  12. Some people on this forum crack me up as sometimes their opinion does not follow basic common sense. The issues are not based on censorship but on ownership and the right to prevent others from profiting off your work.

I am not making any assertions in relation to the original poster raising the issue, but in todays climate and world money can be made by a person who has their own YouTube channel for the purpose of uploading content. Same goes for Facebook or other social media platforms.

10 years ago you could create avenues to promote or follow your favourite band for fun, enjoyment or to attract other people who share the same interests as you.

Unfortunately times have changed and the artist's are the ones not in control and or losing out, on the work they created.

I do take issues with some of the content of the original post. And no i don't work for TB.

Somtimes there are things that you cannot control or are out of your control.

I don't think this lies at the feet of TB or the band itself. They to are having to adapt to change, due to the methods available now days in relation to there work being viewed.

I also feel people on this forum find it easy to blame and attack the band and their management knowing they won't react or engage in a response. To be honest they don't need to. Its easier to blame or attack someone who is not going to defend themselves.

We also must understand that we have no right to tell the band, its members or management what they can and cannot do.

They and we have a choice to do what we please.

We as fans can watch or listen to music from the original line up, the line-up during the UYI tour, the line-ups during the late 90s, Chinese Democracy to the NITLT, or stop being a fan, no longer post on fan forums or buy tickets to a live performance or to no longer listen to music from the band.

The band and Its management can also do what they please.

We the fans have no control over that.

Tommy needed the money...badly. And he's been really upfront about that fact over the years. Iirc, he was working as a telemarketer to make ends meet before getting the GnR gig.

It also appears he was the primary bully of the band - him and Del did not want Bucket in the band and were jealous of how much time Axl was spending with Bucket if rumors are to be believed. And then there was Finck who felt he should be the primary lead guitarist and resented Buckethead's prominence in the inner circle. The band politics of the late 90's - mid 00's essentially revolved around who could jockey enough face-time with the redhead.

At the end of the day, aside from Bucket and Finck, the rest of the "band" were basically just collecting paychecks.  If they had talent and options (Bucket, Finck, Freese, Brain), they left for greener pastures soon after they realized the emperor had no clothes and Nu Guns was doomed.

You have a screwed up logic to life me friend.

We all (including you) have to do what we can to survive and support yourself or a family. We have all done things that we dont like or what we have to do for our own reasons to survive.

Tommy did what he had to do at the time to survive.

Don't put people down for doing what it takes to survive, to put food on the table and a roof over your or your family's head.

I would presume you would be a hired hand (employed by someone ) to provide for yourself and or your family

Tommy has been open about his personal issues around that time Including having to raise a child as a single parent.

You drag up things that happened in the past with this band or people associated with it regularly.

From what i have seen recently of interviews with Tommy he seems at peace with himself. That means he probably looked back in the past, realised his mistakes, the affects of those actions and his moved on in life.

That is clear in relation to him being able to attend NITLT showa as a fan as an outsider looking in able to enjoy  the show and speak openly about how happy he was for Axl, Slash and Duff to be on stage together again.

Tommy has moved on i am sure unlike you he is not looking back.

What good would that do as you cannot change the past.

Why is this making you nervous? It's speculation and foolish talk by some fans.  That's all this is. No facts at all that Slash would leave the band again.

Props to you as you get it.

I understand this is a fan forum and fans come here to express an opinion or there thoughts. But this thread is like many based on no facts or confirmation that Slash is leaving the band.

What happens to Guns N Roses in the future we as fans have no control of what path each individual takes, the band line up, what venues they play, what they wear, the tempo of the band or when the next album is released.

As fans we can control what we do by listening to old music or watching old videos  by the original line up, of your favourite album or possibly more recent line ups or the current line-up.

We as fans can also choose to pay money to see the current band play live.

Individual members of Guns N Roses have no control of what we as fans do.

I use the term leave your baggage at the door as most of the same posters high jack threads with the same old same old mind set often not leaving that at the door before they enter the thread if its based on a different subject matter.

I feel these people don't want the band to succeed as they never accepted  the facts or see things as they are.

The band has just finished a successful tour (2nd all time earner), they have been managed well by both there management, booking agents and promoters and from the outside looking in as fans individuals in the band seem happy, relaxed and as a band (a group) of people both on stage and off don't seem to want to end the journey they have started.

The fuckin' shit that goes through some peoples minds on this forum   The brand would survive if they all dropped dead tommorow cuz its a really big band thats sold millions of t shirts and albums and all that shite, in fact there'd be a spike in album sales I'm sure.

You hit the nail on the head my friend.

Also the fact that based on the what we see from the outside interms of how comfortable and relaxed the guys are around each other, all the past issues have been dealt with and the guys have moved on as adults do.

Do any of you believe that if these guys acted like some people post on this forum they would have been this successful on the NITL tour for this long of a period with out any signs during that period of any of the guys not wanting to be there or for other reasons?.

Some of you guys need to do what these guys have done and move on from the past.

Some are looking for something that wont happen and thats pretty clear to see if you leave your baggage at the door.

Izzy,  Steven, Matt and Gilby aren't coming back, and the current line up is the present and or future.

    Except it or move on...

Yep, I’m anti-female because I dislike a member of the band who dresses, styles, and acts like a member of a Japanese Pop group.

If anyone else in the band did that, I would call them out on that too.

But please, keep telling me how me not liking what Melissa brings to the band makes me a sexist, and how I fail to see the great vision of what she’ll bring to the table of a bunch of aging old rockers.

Bring back Tracy and Roberta I say. At least they were rock n roll attitude and served a purpose...

So when did Rock N Roll become anything to do with the way you dress?

You are trying to put Rock N Roll into box and into a theory that its the way you dress.

Elvis Presley dressed differently was he not Rock N Roll?. What about Chuck Berry?

Rock N Roll is not about stereotypes in terms of how you dress. That's a modern outlook as people think you need to dress a curtain way to conform to something.

I would not call wearing bike shorts or a baseball catchers chest protector, kilts or Skirts worn by Axl Rock N Roll.

Roberta Freemans back ground is in blues, jazz, folk and opera.

So basically the clothes she wore back in the day were for a stage persona to fit in.  Melissa seems comfortable with being herself and so do the band.

She is being herself and i respect that.

But 2006 is 12 years ago.

yea, although I agree. I feel like Axl isn’t even try enough to be fit.

Have you been to a show?.

The one I went to I was close enough to see the sweat pouring off the man.

They say 30mins of exercise even a brisk walk is beneficial to your health and cardiovascular system.

The man is on stage for 3 hours,

He is fit enough as I am sure you and I could not do what he does.

May I suggest getting on a treadmill in a very humid environment for 3 hours, and give it a try yourself.
