  1. At the Glasgow gig, Absurd got a FAR better reception than HS. Axl struggles on HS live unfortunately and it doesn’t sound great at all. Slash clearly gets a kick out of playing it too. For this single….or something more? Which is a shame because that wasn’t particularly great at all. Fincks one was superb - served the song so well. Someone pointed out the ‘lockers’ could have been a nod to the locker leaks. Which is actually quite funny. 🤣
  2. Good point. So - it’s not a stretch to say that Universal just took on the deal and the 20 year term would still end next year? In fact - I wonder if Universal taking over the deal pissed him right off bearing in mind his ‘strained relationship’? 🤣 I suppose the counter argument is he will have likely got his cash up front for the sale of rights regardless….so what’s the problem? Imagine Sanctuary forking out good cash….to only get the benefit of one new album and a couple of reissues plus the not-very-substantial back catalog! 🤣 My thinking is that a couple of singles is a whole different ball game to a full album and the push/promo it would get.
  3. I know this has been suggested a few times over the years but as we get closer to the 20 year mark (and end of the deal)…..I’m definitely more into the theory that we won’t see any album release until the publishing deal with Sanctuary is done. I think that’s up next year? Of course this could be a complete ‘red herring’ and not be affecting anything other than procrastination!
  4. When you say limited CD version….you mean the CD/BR combo as opposed to a single CD edition on its own?
  5. Which is a balanced and fair take. But others really speak down on him and I can’t see exactly why they would have reason to other than being pissed that he is taking Izzy’s place. He doesn’t rock the boat, compliments the band well and is extremely versatile (particularly on the CD stuff). Of course the songwriter part is fair enough although for all we know he HAS contributed stuff….we just haven’t bloody heard it yet! 🤣
  6. I can’t quite wrap my head around why so many seem to have an issue with Richard on here. Seems a solid dude who has paid his dues with the band for around 20 years and as a player is extremely accomplished and versatile. He was absolutely on the money in calling out NB yet folk reckon he should STFU? Why should he exactly - he is literally the best placed person on the planet to make the comment he did bearing in mind his history. I just can’t understand why anyone thinks he is in the wrong here or has an issue with him generally? Yes - he is not Izzy…but no-one is so what can you do?
  7. Robins solo is absolutely superb - it absolutely nails what it needs to benefit the song. I’m not sure how Slash can top it TBH - and that’s not a dig at all….I just really like this one!
  8. 👏 Very well put. Yup - funnily enough I wanted to listen to Headless Cross yesterday and had to do it via YouTube! Can only be some daft rights issue with one of the record companies.
  9. It’s funny - Slash isn’t the most technically gifted guitarist in the world. But his strength is that he doesn’t need to be - he can (certainly back in the day) say more in 10 notes than some can say in a 100. November Rain is a perfect example - it’s not overly difficult from a technical sense however but absolutely nails what it needs to convey AND is one of the most famous solos ever. Estranged too - plays the right notes, amount of notes and it’s stunning. Yet from a technical level it’s probably not that difficult.
  10. I think the existing solo is tremendous….not sure who actually plays it (Finck?) but I’m not sure how it will work out with a new solo.
  11. Hard disagree on this. There is always a market for ‘Deluxe Editions’ - I’m a Black Sabbath fan and you can get deluxe editions of 80s albums Seventh Star and The Eternal Idol which were nothing close to being decent sellers. Like anything - do it properly and price it right. I really hope CD gets a deluxe treatment…we know the material is there. Plus - CD really needs a reissue on vinyl as it’s out of print AND suffered from pressing problems.
  12. Ahh. I have zero clue on what his stuff! I thought I had read that AI had been used for some recent Beatles reissue where it was originally all in mono but the AI was able to target instruments and then ‘isolate’ them so they could be remixed? TBF - I think they used some tech from Peter Jackson he used for his documentary. I know there was a live recording of AGDNM which had different lyrics and wondered if the AI could ‘target’ the vocals and extract/isolate them? Just my brain working overtime! Good job re that Crash Diet though. 👍
  13. Whilst I’m not in favour of AI/fakes….it’s an interesting task. I’d be more inclined to use AI to fix and/or enhance other material. I have literally no idea what the capabilities of your AI method are and this might be a bonus track thing but I’d be keen to know if any of the following is even possible: - Can you use AI to take the live vocals of Ain’t Going Down No More and overlay it with the instrumental on the AFD set? Can you clean up the audio on Ain’t Going Down from the UYI sessions? It’s got a horrible hiss which is very annoying. Can AI be used to ‘clean up’ the West Arkeen stuff like Crash Diet? Quite crackly/hissy/flat sounding. Can the AI separate the instruments to allow a new mix? Cheers if you can answer these questions!
  14. It’s pretty funny how Fortus is literally THE best qualified person to comment on this seeing as he did NB’s role before him AND has seen Slash up front and personal for almost 8 years! 🤣 It’s a legitimate point for folks to make re Fortus as a songwriter etc but on a purely technical level he is extremely accomplished - his work alone on the CD stuff shows that. NB’s response is really bizarre - most folk know who he is and his credentials so to go off like that…..just plain weird. Good on Fortus - he called it right and did it respectfully. I don’t doubt it’s a challenge to switch styles during a concert….but it’s obviously very attainable as Fortus himself has proved from his time?!
  15. I really hope it wasn’t that after the shambles at the start of that show! 🤣
  16. Bingo - it’s the mix that’s the problem…a remix without anything else done would be awesome. re AJFA…..it’s odd but it works. Death Magnetic is a dreadful mix though - easily the one I wish they would revisit. Back on topic….🤣
  17. I’ve been droning on about this for years. 🤣 Zodiac 13 absolutely sounds like something that could have been from Mechanical Animals sessions. Songwise AND sonically.
  18. Ain’t Going Down - good shout. The longest gestating GNR tune there is! 🤣
  19. Shadow of your love Isnt it 6 off of UYI:- Dont Cry Bitch NR BO Garden Yesterdayz
  20. Not that I can go anyway but I think Priest are a great sub. They might not pull in crazy numbers nowadays but in terms of legacy (and this festival is all about that) I think some forget how big they were in the 80s - particularly in the US. They still put on a great show too. I actually wanted a them instead of Tool (never been a fan).
  21. Trust me….I know it GNR and it’s unlikely. 🤣
  22. I’m not saying this is the same….but Iron Maiden did something similar (albeit a bit more cryptic) to tease their last album. All sorts of random leaks and clues which hardcore fans found and it was legit. Its not impossible all this ‘announcement due this week’….set lists…..todays stuff…..Perhaps sound checking is something kinda similar?
  23. Did I read something about Ross Halfin photographing them - is that right? Begs the question - why now?
  24. Maybe…but I guess an announcement of an EP being released around the time of the US leg is technically doable. I think some (not you) think if there is an announcement it will lead to being available quickly/soon and it’s just not a given.
