Why is it that a person who made a mistake in their lives, like getting into drugs or alcohol, immediately become liars and not credible but someone who's got cancer would never be doubted in their opinions, sayings and comments?

Having a stroke affects your moral? Your beliefs? Your personality?

    Wow. Just wow.

This is how this world of prejudice makes people like Steven Adler become enraged and alienated. Because no matter how many days or years the guy gets cleaned. No matter how much he tries to regain a normal life and tries to get out of the deep black hole, there are comments like this from people like this who will never give a second chance to anyone.

Or until it happens to someone in their family or themselves.

Steven's personality and behavior is not any more questionable than Axl's or Slash or Izzy's. Even Duff was a major asshole back in the day. They all have their flaws and some of them have done worse things than taking drugs. However, Steven is the only one who "gets the corn". Why is that? Is it because it took him more time to get out of his addiction? Is it because he's just a drummer? Is it because he hasn't accomplished much with his career?

What about Axl? After Steven, Axl comes close to having a poor career, with only one album released with his version of GN'R. An album that didn't live up to the previous ones. He was stale for a long time, touring somewhat successfully for a decade, using the name of a band he started but he didn't make great by his own and solely talent.

How do we know Steven wouldn't be able to keep his shit together for an entire tour if we never gave him the chance? :shrugs:

His health problems are just the perfect excuse, for the band and for some fans, to say that Steven can't do it. In my opinion, after putting pieces of information together, Izzy and Steven will not return permanently to GNR because Axl Rose, who is the owner of GNR, doesn't want to them in the line up. They both left/got kicked out a long time ago and he moved on with his own version of GN'R until he couldn't do it anymore, due to financial reasons and the fact that his version of GN'R  eventually imploded.

I can't say if Steven is lying or not about what was the first arrangement he did with the band to play a lot more songs per show than what he ended up doing. To me it's hard to believe something like this was proposed or accepted by Axl, but it seems like he's unaware of a lot of things, so maybe someone made arrangements to have Steven convinced of playing more songs and then Axl found out and unmade the arrangements.

All in all, Steven sounded pretty calmed in this interview and coherent and I can't see none of the UTTER BULLSHIT I've had to read in this thread about him. Brain damaged my ass <_<

This guy is healthier than a lot of people here... Just because he has a problem in his speech that doesn't make him mentally handicapped or comparable to a 5 years old child. He's fitter than some fatasses in the band and he's got a lot of energy and positive vibes.

I am grateful for being lucky (something that avoids me like the pest) of having seen him playing with the other three originals at the River Plate shows in Buenos Aires. He was cheered up and welcomed by an audience who appreciated his guest appearance much more than anyone else.

Rock on Steven and have a great life! :headbang:

I agree with you as well. I have posted the guy is  clean and sober. After he left , 30 years ago, Duff and Slash and Axl were still not living like  The Osmond Bros.  Izzy about 1988, thanks to airport police, federal agents, local police in AZ, lol, got clean and sober QUICKLY.

I STILL say Steven is cognitively  was effected.

That is not playing armchair doctor. NO, I do not know him. His interviews just seem “ funny.”  He may have  the last laugh too. He is with band dong AFD and people show up.  The songs . The songs sound realllll authentic there too. . Smaller venues. He seems happy with his life. I won’t bring up their personal lives, but he sort of beat all of the others, except for Duff, in that area. Lol. His Instagram, he is not no where a hermit, lol,. He has other friends, a social life.  The guy has done a 100 degree turn in his life. Give him credit.

    @sanity_lostI like your incoherent mess.

I have never said Steven is not honest. Actually you don`t meet many people who are as honest in what they express from their inside than brain damaged ones (or mentally disabled, my other favs). They understand things literally, you have to avoid irony or sarcasm when you talk to them. The trick is to do some extra research, because the way they process information can be too simplified. There is trap in their mind that when it starts working, as much difficult is to start it, the same difficult is put it to stop. They overthink (or more, repeat) things in their mind as much as they can change their true (like playing the same tape destroys content, or they stick on irrelevant details and blow them up. They also don`t deal with the fact sometimes information do not fit. Or make up things to fill gaps in their reasoning). They are not aware of it. With some it is thin ice always. Also it is thin ice when it interferes with the way they wish things would work. What I learned is never to lie to them and never sugarcoat anything. With all the problems with short-term memory, they remember when you mislead them (or feel mislead. That`s that thin ice). They are their own kind of volatile (or better emotional roller-coaster, love-hate, happy-hurt,...). I got sample of Steven`s book but never the whole one, mostly because I did not enjoy the language and it sounded whiny, I dug elsewhere. Internet is full. Steven whined often and loudly.

As I said Steven is lucky to have happy-go-lucky personality since ever (many sources). He is likable to most people he meets, their light-headed little bro. He maintains it through damage he suffers. It is living in hard mode for everyone around. It is great and a big credit to people who support him. (It`s my biggest goal to help to find sense of living and ability to be happy to someone after crippling incident.) Other amazing child trait is ability to stand up and try again and again after fall without getting sour or giving up.

I think managers make huge addition that communication between members in past was one huge failure and I hope reunited members are aware of it.

Both Axl and Steven are described as 100% authentic people. The dynamics by me comes with huge intelligence gap between these two. You have super-smart visionary Axl who likes to talk his big (abstract) ideas (and I bet he has sense of humor based on abstraction, irony and sarcasm. Right now I imagine him with all that vivid expression and gestures). On the other hand you have simple, from day to day living Steven (this is also something usually accented with brain damage). Most people are somewhere between this. I strongly assume Steven never understood sarcasm or abstract jokes based on wordplay. Or complex problems with unclear solutions. As soon as you have some fun with others (and I enjoy sarcasm and wordplay and humor you don`t always get at first the most) the simple one feels bullied. If you discuss anything beyond his imagination, he starts to feel rejected (and bullied). With grounded guys like Slash or Duff it might be Axl to bring it on. You can bully them unconsciously too easy. Or directly, if you run nerves. Axl-Steven dynamics started to make sense to me after I had to interact with one co-worker in (luckily) limited time job (both completely sober). The best solution I am able in situation like this is to limit contact and hope that I don`t have to include that person in any bigger plans. The thing is that the less smart one will always pull the shorter end. It`s not nice, I know. I also know that for many Steven is likable because he is weaker from these two and still chimp-happy on drums and people tend to sympathize with weaker ones (You either don`t hurt that person because you just don`t want to, other reason to avoid interaction is not to get reputation lost with hurting someone defenseless to your weapons=not to be an asshole from whatever reason). Love-hate relation maybe comes also from intuitive sticking to someone with bold personality and vision and feeling of not being appreciated most of the time. Maybe also because of his bold personality Steven focused all hate from group rejection to Axl (repeatedly declared as group decision).

(to add some of my mess and make a little tidy-up in my thoughts. Although it`s most time about individual experience and feelings about people you feel your friends although you never met anyway.)

Thank you. Textbook knowledge....I can understand. Thnx for the informative posts. No, WE DO not know him.  Opinion is from listening to his many .interviews. I am posting in an old thread. I have been just searching around.

I have posted in other threads about Steven when some fans here go in hard on criticizing this guy.  It is obviously from his many interviews, cognitively he has issues from his stroke, life with hard drugs, and other things.

Point though is he got it all right  clean and sober and should be given credit.

  3. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ya’llllllllllllllllll some mean fans up in here on a  :headbang:diehard fan board.

    Funny,   .

    @double talkin jive mfkr  @adamsapple

I just find it , AxSxD  tour amazing from a newsy standpoint. The numbers and sold out shows are amazing . Whatever AxSxD is selling, people are buying.  Look out, just my thinking, Forbes mag. If Kim Kartrashian and Kylie J got on or in the mag, well,  AxSxD , maybe so.

I have reading around here some fans want to hear new music, new cd , but I think why? Rock stations play classic rock.   Music is bought on line.Thing is , my opinion, they are pulling in major money, very little press over these  4 years, I doubt they write new music.  They cannot write and sing , as AARP aged middle aged men, Rocket Queens or Out Ta Get Mes.  GnR lived through it all to become  rich, old men.  It is a funny story.

Yeah, Steven might have the last laugh.

Just my op ....knowing nothing.....but y’all posts are so sooo funny. :P

  4. I have no comment on A.xl.

I am not speaking or insulting anyone here.

I am not insulting anyone here.

I am generally speaking, mental illness is a new catch phrase for anyone having a blue day or depressed about something’s like: Divorce, being laid off, stresses at job,  weight gain and a bad hair day thus  feeling inferior ,and other very “light “/things that can happen in life that are , sad, temporary and be fixed in planning... time, strategy, going out with family , friends,, refocus, quit, move on or away, etc. These things can make someone go through a rough patch, but these are things that are light. In comparison :  serious , real health issues, etc., ...stuff like that.

Some people have depression and mental mental illness. Serious, not temporary.

Learning coping mechanisms are impt forhandling things in life. I am 55. The end of baby boomers. We were taught how to cope. Younger people , young enough to be my kids, and no, I do not have any. must be coodled. Helicopter parents. Everyone  gets a trophy. Some schools do not have number grades anymore because it is hurtful to others and shows division.  Some schools do not have valedictorian and salutatorian becauseit is not sensitive to others feelings.

I do not agree with Dr. Drew.

Some things are serious and saying  everybody has this or that takes from those people who have real things.

  5. Been listening to GnR, CardiB, JasonAldean while at the gym. My musical tastes goes all over the place.

I cannot say I have a particular  favorite .genre. Music depends on mood and what I am doing.

    Huh?

Steven did play with them on the NITL tour. Also, an offer was made to Izzy to join but the money wasn't right.

Opps. I forgot. I forgot what I posted on what thread.  I posted on both. Sorry for not remembering .Steven got  to be a guest for a song or two  in Argentina  and Izzy has not just joined them as a guest. I mentioned in that heir home state or here in the USA.

If I am wrong about them being with GnR as a guest for a song or two, here in  States, I am sorry.

That is what I mean. Also, and  I forgot the source, Blabbermouth , metal sludge, what? Steven was told no more by Duff and Stevens brother spoke out.

Ill look up that page again. I know it is here on this site somewhere.

    thnx.

  7. GnR has toured the big , NFL football stadiums in major U.S cities a few times over now. Add this festivals like Coachella, VoodooFest, etc.

Again....states and cities a few times over.

Izzy and Steven have not been invited to even join the GnR Company for a show for song or two while the band was in Izzy and Stevens home state or home city.  Indiana, CA. Wherever ?

It is what it is and all parties are happy with their personal and professional lives. It is not impt to GnR Comoany or Izzy. Poor Steven, yes, but .....it is a no.

  8. @soon

    . Very nice garden.

    Congrats.

I did not have a garden story. It is about my front lawn, the backyard where I never go, never watersv, never uses weed and feed, stays fairly nice.

The front yard, this  year just had dirt patches and winter, ugly weeds that were greenish.  This was May 2019. I tilled the dirt. Put down grass seeds, soil, and weed and feed. Watered that. Added sods. They rooted. I had lots of rain in my area during May and June.

I am really proud the sods took. I have a decent front lawn now. It took 2 months. May and June. It was really growing in  late May.

    I am happy with myself.

I wonder if Izzy’s sobriety is part of not touring. He was in this notorious band, he was a junkie etc, I wonder if he wants to move on from those parts of his life?

I wonder this only as a recovering alcoholic myself. I left the area and subsequently country where I did all my drinking. Not to avoid the past but to avoid the fuckers who only wanted to discuss my past exploits. Duuuuuuddddeeee do you remember the time...... When you have a reputation that’s all people see. Even after years and years of sobriety.

Izzy would get this on a global scale if he was to tour, from the media and from the fans. He may find it easier to move on with life rather than discuss the same few years of it over and over.

Ive thought this a lot but never posted due to my own reasons for wondering, but anyone else think this could be part of the reason he hasn’t done any solo tours over the last few years?

Best to on your good work.

I agree with you and Dash.

    My post got deleted

People grow up, grow and change too as they age, find other interests, friends, family needs, time, other business interests, etc.

GnR Company owned by A,D, S is hitting year 4 earning half a billion in sales. The offer here of five figures a show , Duff said, the offer just fell through. Slash said Izzy wanting it to be 1987? I do not understand what he meant.

Yeah this 3 piece reunion cares and wants and it is all about money. Fine. No crime or sin there. Good for them. There is nothing wrong with that. They tried to negotiate an offer ,we none know fior how many shows, what tour leg a year, or really how much  they OFFERED to Izzy.

Business deal fell apart. None of these guys are sad or crying. They are all happy with their lives. I agree with what you said. Maybe the guy does not want to be around that whole thing again, even WITH EVERYONE, clean and sober and the others have been so for decades now.

The offer, Duff said, was five figures lol. I know nothing about that kind of thing, and Izzy said they did want to split the loot equally, well, maybe he meant better than the offer. Not being paid like Axl, Slash, and Duff, but better than the offer presented of five figures

I am sure Izzy is  not crying in his coffee and could care less as Axl, Slash, Duff are jus fine too.

People change. At 57, no active or current social media, Izzy is just private , happy in his personal and professional life and hobby of his songwriting and his personal business interests. Life is not just performing on a stage.

just an assumption like all the other trajectories being launched here

I agree with your posts and Dash’s.

If I may launch my assumption based on nothing but an opinion I am  pulling out of the wind , lol.

Many fans here are diehard fans of the music and whole original group or whole group minus one or two former members . I respect that.  I am a casual fan,  55 thinking these days about the past. I did not do anything wrong morally, legally, nothing like that, I just wish I had done many things differently in the 1980s, my college years.

There's no  rumor really ,after 3 and a half years now , of Izzy and Steven rejoining the group,I mean the business company of GnR.  Both guys sold their interests  30 years ago and/or was fired,(Steven and rightly so won his lawsuit).  It would have been a real reunion tour with the real band members if one, Izzy, could have found a happy medium on his pay take and maybe legs of tour he would do. They other one , Steven, would love nothing more in world to do it all , even just one leg of it, the American shows and even be paid less than the GnR . One would not do it any of it , Izzy, and the other one , Steven, could not do any of it.

There will NEVER be A, S, D ,mwho are GnR, Inc sharing a stage with Izzy and Steven. And that is ok. It is what it is. These  five guys have never been together in the same room let alone a stage in over 30- 31 years.  You have seen 2 of them or 3 of them.  4 of them one short time with Steven playing one song, lol, in Argentine. Lol.Hmmmmm....... The Rock and Roll Hall  of Fame would have been a good , controlled stage show of the five of them performing 2-3 songs for 15 mins. No.  NO WAY!  Izzy and Axl did not go to that.  Refused . I forget their reasons why.  A choice between that and  root canal surgery , I think they would have preferred the root canal surgery than be there all together. Lol. Seriously, it is too bad the band of the original 5 could not come together for fans and even themselves. As middlle aged men, all the five guys are still fairly health and alive, and they are no getting younger . What, maybe in 10 years at 65-67, they might do some limited run of smaller , club shows together.  I doubt it.

I do not think Izzy is  flaky or bails. 30 years ago, he,was clean and sober for 1-2+ years and  band was chaotic, drugs, late, lawsuits, riots and worst at shows , record company and managers had no control over lead singer....etc. VR. He was invited by S and D and contributed. As group formed more and was ready, Scot W was picked for lead singer and how did that work out again....oh yeah. Scott  quit them and was a drug addict and od’d to his death. Hmm. The NYDolls thing. I read your link. Izzy agreed to a show....the company wanted more then, thus him having to learn more material, deal fell apart. Business deals sometimes do not go through.  Negotiations.

GnR Company  owned by A,S, and D could not find a happy medium in contract , maybe legs of tour too that Izzy would sign to do. Guess what. All parties are very happy with their personal and professional lives . Deal could not be worked. No love lost.  People grow up. People  change. People grow  and change due to age , time, other obligations like family, other businesses, other interests, new friends with similar things, lifestyles,  needs, wants, etc.  Maybe the five of them are just not friends anymore. It is not 1987.

Duffs interview said they offered him five figures, lol. The numbers tossed about here,  don’t know where anyone read that, $ 10,000 a show someone’s figure of 167 x that = 6 million, LoL. That  is funny. Peanuts. A night’s show would not be worth him waking up for , LoL, or 6 million by now if he had signed  their probably very fair or very reasonable offer, would not make nor break Izzy. He maybe earns that yearly or so  through his other work. He would probably have to pay half or more that in taxes, LoL.  Being on stage or putting out his lil hobby of music is not all there is in life or how he makes his living.  I am just assuming the guy has other income sources and  jobs. I am not knocking anyone’s post here.  Maybe at 57, no current or active social  media, no interviews, Izzy just likes being a  private person . It is his life.

Steven, man some fans here are hard on him too. He guy was voted off the island , lol, first.  Steven was not the only one using hard drugs, but he was not  a somewhat functioning , hard core drug addict like Duff and Slash. Does that make any sense? Those 3 were really so bad off. Drugs suck and do not work. Some people can pull themselves out it faster and for good , intrinsically like Izzy, of course facing federal prison for few years, LoL, was enough for him to get himself right , clean and sober.  True, Duff and Slash put that lifestyle away decades ago. Steve....not so. The guy , to me, who talks to anyone with mic, has, was left with some real delayed or cognitive issues.  Good for him that he does not have to work for real in real life at a real job clocking in and has enough money to live a decent life to take care of himself and has his mother, brother, wife to care for him. I am not making fun of him . He should stop talking about them . Really let go. He has no self pride.  He gets to play GnR songs in a cover  band and GnR (A,S,D) never shut down his show so he should be quiet and happy and just not grovel at them anymore.

  11. I am out of reactions for today. I wanted to send you a rose.

what an album. That’s what they were called back to then lol.

A real rock and roll group and that AFD , but not heavy metal, but not medium rock, but more rock heavy  ,  but fun rock n roll but not glam, cheese but GnR  and AFD set them apart from hair bands of then, but...

You see where I am going with my post, I hope.

AFD just ricked hard , the whole thing. This was not a ballard cute, chessey, album.

Frank is the drummer and will be  until this tour is over one day, some day. and until AR retires GnR. Frank has been for over 10 years. . Steve will never be given a bone by ADS. Mr. Matt has moved on.

just curious to pick your brain since you're a fan of Frank, why do you like him so much? I'm a drummer myself and I don't particularly like his style drumming and really don't like how he changes songs especially the most recognizable parts such as the November rain intro. While he wasn't the one that wanted to speed songs up (a lot of people have this misconception he just follows a click trick set by others), his tempo isn't as consistent as Sourm's. I also don't like his overuse of the cymbals especially his china. And his drums always sound flat, which may also be the fault of his drum tech/the mics he uses.

With all this in mind, he isn't very appealing to me as a drummer, especially in my favorite band. What makes you like him?

Not trying to insult and sorry it's off topic but would love to hear your opinion!

If fairness , Frank is doing, mostly likely, as he is paid to do so. This is what and how ADS want it.

Oh and btw, as a huge fan of Frank personally (which I've posted about a lot on here), I truly feel sorry for you that you can't hear the difference between Adler, Sorum and Frank when it comes to drumming.

I should not have said this site. All sites. You tube comments. All of it. It is always who likes  Matt vs Steve. I also said complimentary great points  about Frank.

Steven has shown that he can play Civil War and You Could Be Mine, at least. I would love to hear him play Coma, Double Talkin' Jive, November Rain and especially Locomotive if they ever play that one again. Obviously he can play Don't Cry and KOHD, too. The only song he might not play as well as Sorum would be Estranged IMO, it'd be really interesting to hear his take on that song.

Matt sucked the life out of some AFD songs. Steven injects new life into some UYI songs. Frank pretty much ruins everything.

No comments from you to Gordon  who said Frank mostly ruins everything.

  16. Reading around this morning....year  4 on The AxlDuffSlash tour,,coming up on 5 years Jan 2020, and yes, they I’ll go for it.

They are gong for  he longest tour record and biggest money tour ever.

Congrats to them. Each of these three men might cut themselevs check for 100 million  by the end of your for their total payday.,lol .They do not need or want Izzy and Steve. Again, Axl really does not need Duff . A n S are the main characters.

Izzy is almost 60 and has other lives that interests him. The money was hung he said, ehhh. Yeah. Really reading around, mit seems this guy is not interested in being away from his home, wife, other business interests, traveling, his own schedule, and more.

All of GnR are  pushing 60 as someone said here in an earlier post.

Steve, and some of you are pretty mean spirited in your posts, simply, common sense, cannot do a 4-5 year tour.

The Argentina , one or two special nags, was really pitiful in that Argentina is far away to go for a song or two. They could hav him play a song or two at The Troubador date or Forum. Adler is no better , no worst, well, did no more, no worst than the rest of them. Least he never had statutory rape charges on him. Duff and Izzy both almost died. Slash is running around with a pacemaker .

This is what is was since 2016 and is 2019 and will be 2020.

The  Axl Tour with special guests, Duff and Slash , and contracted, paid employees are the other people.

WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN cool, a huge money grab, big ticket price, for Guns n Roses , Steve, Izzy, Duff, Slash, and Axl, to tour The House Of Blues clubs . You have 12 or less of them.   No paid employees. A sold out show each instantly sold out.  Herevin the USA and not Argentina.A mini tour within their massive tour. Split the pay five ways. HofB has  x amount of tickets so people can see in the concert . It is standing up in the concert HofB. I been to shows before at  New Orleans  HofB. Band could play  AFD end to end and a few other songs. Something for old fans, Steve, and  Izzy.  Short show. 2 hours max.

Frank, he is the Black Guy and so I never hear fans on this site rave about him. He is great at his job to play the drums as a paid , contracted  employee of material not his.

Groove, swing, drum machine, technical, none of that matters. If any of you would close your eyes and not see the drummer and the band played one song  right now from AFD with each drummer, I bet no one could tell. Oh that is Steve.Oh that is Matt. Oh that is Frank. The drumming would sound the same. The drummer in GnR is not impt. Motley Crue, Yes. Metallica, yes. Their drummers ARE the band as each member IS the band.  GnR has had  several drummers. Steve gets sentimental praise for his stuff was AFD which started the band. He was 1/5. Matt played and jumped in a band with old music. Music already recorded. All he need to do was play the notes. Frank is even more of a hired hand. Frank or Hank or Tank, all  the same.

    Who is TB?

From what I gather,  Axls mngr., faithful family he chose, S.Seymous child’s former nanny from 1991 or so, housekeeper, personal staff, and more. TBTeam Brazil consists of a lady from Brazil and her now adult children. They are his everything and has been for  25-30 years now.

  18. Yes. What  I mean is that a lot  of their fans  are  young. I do  not mean it as to insult  anyone older or younger.

I just through that date out  there.

Point is  GnR has  many  fan  young enough to be their  children.

GnR  is  a  cool  thing  for  that  age group.  GREAT!!!

A band  wants to expand their audience.

I see nothing wrong  , again as I have said , with The Big Three  raking in the hundreds  of millions  on this 4 year record breaking  world tour.
