  1. Yup. You wonder whether the organisers were making a sly joke, or if they actually don't know anything about that song! (I'd bet the latter)
  2. Best £45 I ever spent! - Caught the end of The Pretenders. Chrissie still sounds and looks great. - The screen graphics looked like a Nintendo game that had been designed by Monster energy. Oh well, there's a time and a place for good taste. - I was in the livelier part of the crowd (near the front of GA), full of people dancing and having a great time (me included - that is what being at a gig is all about). - Yes - golden circle was enormous. If that was a stadium show, something that size would have taken up nearly the whole pitch. And who's bright idea was it to put three enormous towers in there (obstructing the view of the peasants in GA)? - Axl sounds like a beast in his lower and mid ranges, but this does show up his lack of power on the high notes. Still, he hits them all. - Not sure if we'd miss Melissa's keyboards if they weren't there, but her backing vocals are amazing. - The guitar and bass mix was variable. Loud and clear on some songs, but inaudible on others (like Down On The Farm). - Some of Slash's playing is amazing, but there were times I wished he'd remembered that 'less is more' (like SCOM). - Richard and Slash are like Much Taylor and Keith Richards - seamlessly swapping rhythm and lead (Izzy and Slash were like Ronnie Wood and Keith - weaving around eachother). - Frank played some good fills. - I liked some of Dizzy's barrelhouse piano. - I enjoyed the lesser played songs the most. Coma was a treat. I even enjoyed Anything Goes, and I don't even like that song! Was this GnR's London swansong? Well it would be a better way to go out than the Spurs debacle last year.
  3. What a show! I'll post more thoughts later but, for now, here's a picture of a rather unfortunate sign that the organisers put on the screen after the show... https://imgur.com/a/2q8wP1K
  4. I told myself that I had seen GnR enough times. I told myself that I wasn't going to give in to FOMO. But... I saw that there was a GA ticket for £45 on AXS and I thought... Fuck it - let's go for one last time around with Axl and the boys. See you tonight!
  5. I've no doubt that the drum track for the final version of Hard Skool was heavily quantized, regardless of who played it. Alas, most modern rock songs are quantized and autotuned to death. And I really mean 'to death' because these processes sap the life out of songs.
  6. Just had the strangest memory - As I sit here passing the time in a pub in Bromley (London), I remember sitting in the exact same seat nearly a year ago, and reading this forum at the time we all convinced ourselves that these new songs were imminent. Months later, I am in the same seat, and these songs are still nowhere to be heard. Ain't it funny how much of the GnR fan experience is about waiting for things to happen?!
  7. Axl usually stays at the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge (at the opposite end of Hyde Park to where the gig will be). (Not saying that you will, but please don't give the band any hassle that they don't want). It's one of the most expensive - and best - hotels in town. If I had his cash I'd totally stay at places like that!
  8. About a year ago, Neil McCormick (who wrote the review of Guns at Glasto for The Telegraph) got heaps of abuse from fans of Blackpink because he only gave their album 4 out of 5. And the tone of that review was positive. So, if we are going to respond to Neil, let's at least be polite and constructive. The guy was only doing his job (although I agree that his comments about Axl's appearance were unnecessary).
  9. Siiiiiilllld N' The Bedouins (One for the old school Harry Hill fans).
  10. Oh don't do that, TB Calling out unfavorable journalists wasn't a good look in 1991 (Get In The Ring), and it isn't now
  11. I think that behind a lot of the moaning about GnR being on the bill is some people's disappointment that Taylor wasn't available this year.
  12. This. Tonight isn't the night for playing new songs and deep cuts. Give the millions of people watching the songs they know. And for god's sake, keep Slash's solo spot to a couple of minutes. His usual 10-15 minute bowl of noodles would really test people's patience.
  13. Don't get me wrong - I am as eager to hear new GnR songs as anyone. But I actually hope that they don't play any new songs at Glastonbury. This isn't a hardcore GnR audience that they are performing to and, in the two and a bit hours they have, they need to give the punters their best known songs only. (Don't forget about the millions watching on the BBC as well). They should save the new stuff for their own concerts.
  14. As with all social media controversies - it was really only a few loudmouths on Twitter who were complaining. I'm sure that nearly everyone who is actually going to Glasto will be too busy having a good time (whoever they are watching) to worry about the gender/race/sexual orientation balance of who is on stage.
  15. Funny - I always thought that Noel was a GnR fan. I remember him being very complimentary about their show at RIR3 (when Oasis were on the bill immediately before them) AND about Chinese Democracy. On the other hand - he just can't resist giving a provocative opinion. Remember how he came unstuck a few years ago when he questioned the choice of Jay-Z as a Glastonbury headliner?
  16. Yyeeeeeaaaah - Duff's version of events always seemed a little bit suspect. How convenient that he just happened to be in the same city, the same hotel and the same corridor as Axl ...
